TOOWOOMBA TURF CLUB STEWARDS REPORT 16th February 2002


STEWARDS PANEL: S Rowe (Chairman), J Williamson, L Carvosso, P Lane, N Rudunz,

WEATHER – Fine TRACK – GOOD RAIL – 3M.

GENERAL:
G Hatch trainer of LAKEY’S LANE was fined $25 for late stable return.

RACE 1: FOSTERS’ LIGHT ICE CLASS 2 H'CAP – 900M.

PENNY SERENADE and BUCCANETTE were both slow to begin.

WILGARVIN jumped away awkwardly.

WILGARVIN, which was racing greenly rolled in at the 400m tightening the running of MIAMI DRIVE and PENNY SERENADE, which had to be eased.

Time off 4.04 pm.

RACE 2: CROWN LAGER MAIDEN H'CAP – 1110M.

L Morrison who was held up after riding at another venue failed to arrive on course and was subsequently replaced by jockey J Sharp on her mount STRAWBERRY BANKE.

STRAWBERRY BANKE, which through itself down in the parade ring, was inspected by the clubs vet and passed fit to start.

SHEZABON and AFRAID were both slow to begin.

STRAWBERRY BANKE, which raced ungenerously in the early and middle stages had to be checked off the heels OUR JUGGERNAUT at 900m and again at the 700m when the filly made contact with the rail.

SOLO LASS hung out making the first turn taking QUEEN MAI out onto SHEZABON

CARRISSIMA rolled in at the 500m tightening the running of BELLE SHY, which made contact with the rail.

BLACK PILL raced greenly in the straight, shifted in across the heels of CARISSIMA and had to checked.

SHEZABON shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages.

Time off 4.46 pm.


RACE 3: VICTORIA BITTER CLASS 4 H'CAP - 1210M.

POCKETSFIL slowly into stride.

Time off 5.20 pm.

RACE 4: CARLTON DRAUGHT CLASS 6 H'CAP – 1310M.

NAROO slow to begin.

KEEP THE ACE was inclined to hang out making the first turn.

Rounding the home turn B Appo rider of KIDBURG was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in when attempting to regather his whip, in doing so inconviencing KEEP THE ACE which inturn hampered FARISIKNOW.

KEEP THE ACE was tightened for room between KEWPIE DOLL and TRULY BRAVE, which shifted ground over the concluding stages. Jockey G Geran was reminded of his obligations when his mount shifts ground.

Stewards questioned the ride of L Morrison IN THE GIDGEE as to her lack of vigour over the concluding stages. Apprentice Morrison stated that as the horse, in her opinion, was not going to run into the placing’s, any further vigour was not warranted. Stewards noted her explanation.

Time off 5.55 pm.

RACE 5: CARLTON MIDSTRENGTH BITTER CLASS 3 H'CAP – 2069M.

Stewards questioned the ride of S Apthorpe rider of GO WIN he stated that the horse pulled hard through the early and middle stages and was unable to finish the race off. His explanation was noted.

Time off 6.37 pm.

RACE 6: CARLTON & UNITED BREWERIES MAIDEN H'CAP – 1615M.

On jumping SIMONCELLO was tightened for room between MISS PFEIFFER and SIR KWILA both of which shifted ground. MISS PFEIFFER continued to shift out causing SIMONCELLO to clip heels and blunder. Apprentice R Hurley was reminded of his obligations when his mount begins to shift.

Rounding the home turn AUNTY BESS was held up for clear running when attempting a run to the inside of WAITAWHERO GOLD were there was insufficient room.

After the event the clubs vet inspected TRUMP DOMINION and found the gelding to be sore in the off hind. Connections were notified that a veterinary certificate would be required prior to next start.

Time off 7.12 pm.

RACE 7: CASCADE PREMIUM LIGHT CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1210M.

DELCORSO was slow to begin.

T Banks, rider of MISS D’VINA, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that he permitted his mount to shift in near the 1000m. When insufficiently clear of DANCING SOUND, resulting in that runner being forced in onto NOLA’S DREAM forcing the mare to be checked, take the heels of CAWDOR WARRIOR and blunder. T Banks was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 16 February, and to expire at midnight, 27 February 2002.

SILVER RAE when racing keenly had to be eased off the heels of TIGER MALT at the 700m.

Making the home turn SILVER RAE was held up for clear running.

Upon entry to the straight jockey R Goltz rider of GREAT EXPECTATIONS, forced a between CAWDOR WARRIOR and TIGER MALT. Jockey R Goltz was cautioned in this incident.

Shortly after CAWDOR WARRIOR, after rolling in, shifted out abruptly causing GREAT EXPECTATIONS to be tightened onto TIGER MALT.

At the 300m, DANCING SOUND was forced wider on the track when NOLA’S DREAM shifted out and away from DELCORSO, which shifted out. DELCORSO continued to shift out to obtain clear running forcing NOLA’S DREAM to ease.

Time off 7.47 pm.
