TOOWOOMBA TURF CLUB STEWARDS REPORT 16TH MARCH 2002


STEWARDS PANEL: S Rowe (Chairman), J Williamson, P Reardon, N Rudunz, R Hitchener

WEATHER – FINE TRACK – GOOD RAIL – 4 Metres


RACE 1: JOE BRADY ENTIRES AND GELDINGS MAIDEN H'CAP – 1213M.

SPECIAL FORCES jumped in at the start tightening KOBANDILA forcing that horse in onto ALTAREG, which had to ease.

MAYNE EDGE jumped in at the start taking FORMAL AFFAIR in causing tightening to BLAZING PRINCE which inturn shifted in onto MR MILO.

Approaching the 1100m FORMAL AFFAIR shifted out making contact with BLAZING PRINCE, which then came into contact with UNATTAINABLE.

App F. Villella was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that he permitting his mount SPECIAL FORCES to shift in leaving the 1100m when insufficiently clear of ZEDBISK which was forced to check and shift in coming into heavy contact with HARCOURT PRINCE. App F Villella was suspended from riding in races from midnight March 16, 2002 up to and including midnight March 27, 2002 (6 meetings).

BLAZING PRINCE held up for clear running approaching the home turn.

Time off 4.04 pm.

RACE 2: IRISH CLUB HOTEL FILLIES AND MARES MAIDEN H'CAP – 1213M.

MY MISS SPRITELY and MAGIC HEELS were both slow to begin.

DIAMOND LASS held up for clear running approaching the home turn.

PLUSH SPLENDOUR inclined to hang in down straight.

Jockey J. Sharp (HEALER) cautioned for allowing his mount to shift in over the concluding stages forcing PALATINE to shift in, which in turn caused PLUSH SPLENDOUR which was following to shifted in to avoid that fillies heels.

Time off 4.44 pm.





RACE 3: DOWNS MICROSYSTEMS CLASS 3 H'CAP – 1213M.

KOHINOOR BLUE jumped with its head in the air and was slowly into stride.

When the pace eased at the 800m HOO HA shifted out to avoid the heels of CREONA DARKNESS and in doing so forced CLEAN FORGOT and MALDREMI wider on the track.

Jockey D. Green (MALDREAMI) reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in leaving the 800m causing HOT FEET to ease.

Nearing the 750m MIGHTY CHATAIN rolled in inconveniencing KOHINOOR BLUE.

Approaching the 700m MALDREAMI shifted out coming into contact with NATHAN CITADEL, which raced wide throughout.

OUTRANK inclined to hang in on the home turn.

Time off 5.20 pm.



RACE 4: JACK McCAFFERTY MEMORIAL ST PATRICK CUP H'CAP – 1213M.

SONIC SWITCH jumped awkwardly.

JUST GUS was slow to begin.

Approaching the 800m TANBRIDGE WAY, which shifted in, came into minor contact with GORILLA’S GALORE.

Nearing the 450m MASTER JOLLY eased from the heels of CAJUN JESTER.

Approaching the 300m CAJUN JESTER, which was tiring, rolled out causing TANBRIDGE WAY to check.

Time off 5.55 pm.











RACE 5: KEVIN McGRATH FUNERALS CLASS 6 H'CAP – 1875M.

Protest lodged by jockey M. Dorrington (KWILA STAR) rider of 5th placegetter against THE APACHE KID (R. Goltz) being declared second and BAY DUKE (L. Morrison) being declared 3rd on the grounds of alleged interference over the final 50m of the race dismissed and judges placings to stand.

GOD’S LUCK was withdrawn by order of the Stewards at 6.36 P.M. acting on Veterinary advice. All bets on GOD’S LUCK refunded and deductions made less 3c the win, less 4c the place, face value of the ticket. Tnr P. Parsons advised veterinary certificate required prior to next racing.

Approaching the 1700m INVOICE was tightened onto the fence when ROKSHOW shifted in.

When the pace slackened approaching the 1400m ROKSHOW had to be checked off heels losing considerable ground.

Passing the 300m BAY DUKE rolled out coming into minor contact with THE APACHE KID.

Jockey R. Goltz (THE APACHE KID) was sevearly reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in whilst under pressure over the concluding stages of the race resulting in KWILA STAR being forced to check and avoid the heels of BAY DUKE which had shifted out marginally.

Time off 6.37 pm.




RACE 6: AIR AND HEATING SERVICES/MITSUBISHI CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1620M.

The saddle on BRANDY SUCCESS slipped during the race and on entering the straight shifted out hampering HEART OF LIGHT. On returning to scale it was found the Surcingle on BRANDY SUCCESS had worked loose.

Approaching the 1400m WILL RISK had to be checked off heels when the pace slackened.

Time off 7.13 pm.




RACE 7: BRAMMER ARCHITECTS CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1313M.

Jockey J. Warrington reported ill, replaced by jockey J. Sharp (DEVIL’S CLAW). Jockey J. Warrington advised medical certificate required prior to next riding.

BRAVE WORDS and NO MATTER WHAT both jumped awkwardly.

OVERSLADE LANE was held up for clear running from the 400m to the 300m.

Time off 7.50 pm.

ALL WINNERS WERE SWABBED.
