RACE 1: VB MAIDEN H'CAP E1600M.

RIPPLING STEEL jumped out at the start.

MARSELUCK, which was slowly away, got its head up and raced ungenerously for some distance.

Approaching the 1200m ZACOBBA got its head up for some distance whilst being steadied as the pace slowed.

Leaving the 500m ZACOBBA shifted out forcing PICASSO wider on the track.

Leaving the 400m RIPPLING STEEL was eased when tightened for room by PICASSO (R. Goltz), which shifted in. R. Goltz was advised of his obligations when his mount is shifting ground.

ZACOBBA raced greenly in the straight.

Time off 4.14 pm.

RACE 2: FOSTER’S LIGHT ICE MAIDEN H'CAP E1100M.

AS IT IS, which cast the near fore plate at barrier, delayed the start whilst being re Eshod.

LET’S GO LOU and BARTOK were slowly away.

BETENOIRE jumped awkwardly lost ground.

LADY MAGISTRATE jumped out at the start.

Leaving the 850m PETRO RANGER got its head up and raced ungenerously for a short distance.

Leaving the 800m BETENOIRE was momentarily crowded for room when LADY MAGISTRATE shifted in.

Leaving the 500m PETRO RANGER was held up for clear running for a short distance.

Over the concluding stages ARGANAUTIKA shifted in coming into minor contact with PETRO RANGER.

AS IT IS raced wide throughout.

Time off 4.58 pm.

RACE 3: CROWN LAGER SUPER QRIS 3-Y-O MAIDEN H'CAP - 1300M.

NEDESTO was slow away.

MAYNE EDGE jumped out and across the running of RAPADAMA, which was slowly away.

As the gates opened TEE SQUARED jumped out hampering STUCK FAST.

Approaching the 1000m RIDE THE SEAS and CAWDOR CROW were eased when tightened for room by BON BONS, which was lying in and away from TEE SQUARED, which was lying in.

Near the 850m RIDE THE SEAS was eased from the heels of BON BONS.

Approaching the 800m STUCK FAST was inclined to lie in.

Apprentice F. Villella (BON BONS) was found guilty of a careless riding charge in that he permitted his mount to shift in approaching the 750m when insufficiently clear of PENTHOUSE VIEW, resulting in that horse being checked when tightened for room. F Villella was suspended from riding in races for a period of 8 meetings to take affect as of mid Enight 13-04-02 and to expire at mid Enight 25-04-02.

Approaching the 750m RAPADAMA shifted out coming into contact with GO TEMPO.
Approaching the 600m PENTHOUSE VIEW was checked when tightened for room by RIDE THE SEAS, which was taken in by TEE SQUARED, which was lying in.

MAYNE EDGE, which was following, shifted abruptly to avoid the heels of PENTHOUSE VIEW, resulting in MONTEAL BEAU, RAPADAMA and GO TEMPO being forced wider on the track.

Approaching the 50m STUCK FAST was eased when tightened for room by TEE SQUARED, which shifted in whilst hanging in.

Time off 5.35 pm.

RACE 4: CASCADE PREMIUM LIGHT CLASS 4 H'CAP E1300M.

OZZEL was slowly away.

Leaving the 800m OZZEL was eased when it improved to the inside of the heels of DOUBLE CROSSED where there was restricted room.

Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the reason OZZEL (T Ikenushi) lost ground near the 500m when racing to the inside of DOUBLED CROSSED (T Ono) and HELLIE MISSED (J Sharp).

At the entrance of the home straight T Ono was dislodged from his mount DOUBLE CROSSED, which blundered when striking the heels of REGAL GARTER (C Eaton), which shifted out. Stewards took no action against C Eaton as her mount was hanging out when it shifted out rounding the home turn.

Time off 6.15 pm.

RACE 5: CARLTON DRAUGHT TOOWOOMBA CUP H'CAP E2050M.

AULD HAT blundered on jumping.

KIWI WARRIOR, which was slowly away, got its head up leaving the 1200m whilst racing keenly.

Approaching the home turn PLANET KING was eased when tightened for room between THE APACHE KID, which hung in and away from BAY DUKE, which shifted in marginally and REGAL TYCOON, which shifted out whilst being eased from the heels of THIS MANSHOOD. In this incident the saddle of REGAL TYCOON shifted to the near side placing the rider in difficulties for the remainder of the race.

ALMIGHTY ALLIANCE and BRAVE TATTLER, which were following were both hampered in the incident.

Approaching the 250m BRAVE TATTLER was crowded for room between KIWI WARRIOR, which shifted out and YUPPIE.


KIWI WARRIOR returned to scale lame. Trainer R Macrae was advised that a veterinary clearance was required for KIWI WARRIOR prior to his next start

Time off 6.55 pm.

RACE 6: CARLTON MIDSTRENGTH BITTER CLASS 3 H’CAP E1600M.

As the gates opened DIPPERMOUTH jumped out making contact with FLASHBORNE. FLASHBORNE then shifted out taking SHOW MARTIAL out onto STRANGE CONFLICT.

Approaching the 1200m WILL RISK eased from the heels of DIPPERMOUTH, which eased from the heels of SHOW MARTIAL as the pace slowed.

Near the 1100m DIPPERMOUTH was crowded for room by GOLD HEART, which shifted in.

DIPPERMOUTH laid in over the concluding stages.

SILVERTHORNE was held up for clear running for the entire length of the straight.

The saddle of GOLD HEART slipped forward approaching the 1300m placing the rider in difficulties for the remainder of the race.

Time off 7.34 pm.

RACE 7: THE CHRONICLE CUP 2-Y-O MAIDEN H'CAP E1200M.

GLOUCESTER ROAD, which was slowly away, jumped out.

STRUCTURE was slowly away.

Near the 850m CLEVERNESS and SLICKS were crowded for room by STRUCTURE, which was hanging in and away from PICCOLO PLAYER.

FLASHING JACK made the home turn awkwardly.

Time off 8.12 pm.

RACE 8: RAY WHITE TOOWOOMBA CITY CLASS 1 H'CAP E1200M.

PEEPING THOMAS, which jumped with its head in the air, got its head up leaving the 900m whilst being eased.

Approaching the 800m PALACE MOON, was crowded for room by PEEPING THOMAS, which improved to the inside of the heels of WARWICK DANCER where there was restricted room.

Near the 200m J Sharp was dislodged from his mount MIGHTY CHATAIN, which broke its
Near fore fetlock. MIGHTY CAHATAIN was subsequently euthanased.

PULL MY STRING, which was following was severely hampered in the incident.

Time off 8.55 pm.

ALL WINNERS WERE SWABBED. Two pre race in Race 5

ADDENDIUM 11-04-02.

Stewards concluded an inquiry into the fall during the running of the Weetwood Handicap Race 6 on the 11th April 2002, after taking further evidence from Jockey M Pelling (Startell), stewards could find no rider at fault as it was determined to be accidental, as at the 400m, Startell had struck the heels of Rocket Ball ( J Sharp ) which was being steadied off the heels of Liam Lad ( H Akiyama ) which at that point was loosing ground. Stewards took no further action.

R Goltz (TREASURE THE KWILA) was severely reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift out approaching the 350m when insufficiently clear of LIAM LAD, resulting in LIAM LAD being eased when tightened for room.

ADDENDIUM 13.4.02

On the 2nd April 2002 stewards inquired into a complaint lodged by Mr L McCoy regarding a credit bet which was placed on Richesse in Race 6 at Toowoomba on the 15th December 2001 in Mr McCoy’s name with licensed Bookmaker Mr J Forde by Apprentice T Banks. After taking evidence on this day from Apprentice Jockey T Banks, his representative and mother Mrs Banks, Mr J Forde and Mr L McCoy, it was decided by stewards that the inquiry be reconvened on the 13th April so that Mr J Forde’s son and licensed clerk Mr J Forde Jnr could be present.

After hearing further evidence from all parties and Mr Forde Jnr, Apprentice T Banks was charged and found guilty of contravening ARR 83 (c) and fined the sum of $500. Apprentice Banks was further charged with contravening ARR 175(a) and disqualified for a period of 4 months to commence immediately and to expire 13th August 2002.
