RACE 1: HUNT & HUNT LAWYERS CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1119M.
MILLCAY was slowly away.
MADAM RAUTAI and MAVOURNIN made contact shortly after the start.
Leaving the 850m DRIVES ME CRAZY was steadied from the heels of NO MAN’S LAND, which shifted in.
Approaching the 600m LAGERETTE was eased when tightened for room by EBONY TOUCH (J. Warrington), which shifted in. J. Warrington was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear.
DRIVES ME CRAZY was held up for clear running rounding the home turn.
CASHEL FLIGHT laid in over the final 100m.

RACE 2: PROVINCIAL DISTRIBUTORS MAIDEN PLATE – 1018M.
PEDRO’S POLARIS, which reared high in the barriers was examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and was subsequently cleared to take its place in the field.
PEDRO’S POLARIS and RED KEA were both slowly away.
SIOUXDO and SPECIAL LYRIC jumped away awkwardly.
TASMAN EXPRESS jumped out coming into contact with PRINCESS LIL.
Shortly after the start TASMAN EXPRESS was crowded for room between MONTEAL BEAU and PRINCESS LIL which shifted in.
Near the 950m SIOUXDO was steadied when cramped for room between MONTEAL BEAU and SPECIAL LYRIC.
STRONGIE hung out rounding the home turn.
Near the 250m PRINCESS LIL shifted in and away from TENNESSEE PRINCE, which shifted in abruptly.
Approaching the 50m PRINCESS LIL, which appeared to resent being ridden with the whip, shifted out abruptly taking ANOTHER TAAN out and across the running of SIOUXDO, resulting in ANOTHER TAAN and SIOUXDO having to be eased. TENNESSEE PRINCE, which was following was eased from the heels of SIOUXDO in the incident.
PEDRO’S POLARIS returned to scale with a small amount of blood in the off nostril.

RACE 3: HEALTHY LIFESTYLES CLASS 4 H'CAP - 1018M.
At the start SUMMER AFFAIR lost ground when tightened for room between ANNIE SUCCESS and BIG CAT NAP, which jumped out.
Leaving the 800m NICEOSS was steadied when momentarily crowded for room by CUT IT OUT, which was taken in by BIG CAT NAP.
Near the 400M CUT IT OUT was forced wider on the track by DEVONPORT, which shifted out to improve.
On the point of the home turn KISS AN ANGEL (G Geran) shifted out taking SUMMER AFFAIR onto DEVONPORT. CUT IT OUT, which was racing to the outside of DEVONPORT, was steadied from that horse’s heels. G Geran was reminded of his obligations when his mount is shifting ground.
Leaving the 100m ANNIE SUCCESS shifted out under pressure.
KISS AN ANGEL shifted out over the last 100m.
KISS AN ANGEL (G Geran) shifted in after the winning post taking DEVONPORT in. G Geran was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift ground when insufficiently clear.
ANNIE SUCCESS (J Sharp) shifted in after the winning post tightening the running of NICEOSS and BIG CAT NAP. J Sharp was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift ground when insufficiently clear.
J Warrington (NICEOSS) was cautioned for not riding his mount right to the finish when he was still in contention to finish in the prizemoney. J Warrington was advised that if he had been beaten out of 4th place he most likely would have had a penalty imposed on him.
When questioned why NICEOSS got so far back in the middle stages, Jockey J Warrington stated that after his mount began fairly he appeared to become unbalanced after rounding the first turn and was reluctant to stretch out despite his efforts to keep his mount in touch with the field. J Warrington also stated that he is of the opinion that NICEOSS is sore, explanations noted. The patrol film confirmed that from leaving the 800m J Warrington was pushing his mount along and leaving the 600m he gave his mount a few hits with the whip. A subsequent Veterinary examination of NICEOSS failed to reveal any abnormality. Trainer R Kirwin indicated that NICEOSS has had problems in the past and he intends having the gelding examined by the stable Veterinary Surgeon. Mr Kirwin gave an undertaking that he will supply Stewards with any findings from his stable Veterinary Surgeon.

RACE 4: QRSE FILLIES & MARES CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1219M.
BERTHA broke through the front of the barrier after taking fright when ON THE WEEKEND jumped forward coming into heavy contact with the gates.
BERTHA, which was restrained after going a short distance and ON THE WEEKEND were both examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and subsequently cleared to take their place in the field.
BERTHA and LOVE AND GOLD jumped away awkwardly.
I LIKE THE MUSIC was slowly away.
Shortly after the start VODNAR was steadied when crowded for room between CITY ROSE and DANARIA, which shifted out.
Approaching the 100m LATE WARRIOR shifted in and brushed BERTHA.
DISCORD was taken in over the concluding stages by DANARIA, which shifted in under pressure.
Approaching the 50m CITY ROSE shifted in abruptly whilst under pressure.
DISCORD and LATE WARRIOR raced wide throughout.

RACE 5: TOOWONG PRIVATE HOSPITAL CLASS 6 H'CAP – 1320M.
Stewards accepted the explanation of Trainer C Castles why the rider for VAIN AND HANDY was not declared by the required time.
At the start BORDEAUX HOPPER, VAIN AND HANDY and EYES FOREVER were all tightened for room between ZEPHYR MAN, which jumped out and DANU, which jumped in.
Leaving the 850m BORDEAUX HOPPER knuckled when tightened for room by DANU, which shifted in whilst racing ungenerously with its head in the air. EYES FOREVER, which was following was steadied from the heels of BORDEAUX HOPPER.
Leaving the 50m ZEPHYR MAN shifted in under pressure.
VAIN AND HANDY pulled hard in the early stages.

RACE 6: TRESS COX LAWYERS MAIDEN H'CAP – 1320M.
L Deguara (MARWOOD ROAD) replaced R Goltz who had commitments at the Eagle Farm meeting.
GOLDEN SILVER and MOUNTAIN FURY were slowly away.
FOREVER LODGE turned its head to the side as the gates opened, resulting in the gelding losing ground.
Leaving the 950m MCINTYRE LAD got its head up and raced ungenerously for some distance.
Leaving the 900m SHE’S ASTUTE shifted in and made contact with the running rail.
Near the 450m MARWOOD ROAD brushed the running rail.
Leaving the 400m RECKLESS JESTER shifted out coming into contact with DUFFIELDS DANE.
MARWOOD ROAD was held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight.
Approaching the 100m FOREVER LODGE shifted in abruptly.
Near the 50m SHE’S ASTUTE shifted in abruptly.

RACE 7: EUREST PREPARED FOODS CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1888M.
Stewards accepted the explanation of Trainer I Gleeson why the rider for RANCHO’S LOVE was not declared by the required time.
MOWGREEN was withdrawn on Veterinary advice at 9.01 am.
Near the 1600m RANCHO’S LOVE was steadied when crowded for room by DREAM OF YOU, which was taken in by MEMPHIS TENNESSEE.
Leaving the 450m CHIEFODEON was cramped for room between INVERLEIGH LAD and BARITONE, which shifted in.
THE PROMS pulled hard in the early and middle stages.

16/08/04: Veterinary Surgeon G Laws reported that NICEOSS was suffering from muscle soreness in the girth area.
