SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS
8/3/07: Steward today inquired into the results of the analysis of a breath sample provided by Trackwork Rider Aaron Cooper-Hayter after riding trackwork at Toowoomba on the morning of the 8th March 2007. A Cooper-Hayter pleaded guilty to a charge under AR81 (A) (a) in that the sample taken was found to contain a Blood Alcohol Level of 0.036%. Mr A Cooper-Hayters’ license to ride trackwork was suspended for a period of two calendar months to commence midnight 8/3/07 up to and including midnight 8/5/07.

RACE 1: EDWARDS SADDLEWORLD MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1024M.
1st – Pure Angel 2nd – Shovent 3rd – Dane Sahara 4th – Abenaki

Stewards accepted the explanations from Trainers S. Smith (INXCEDE) and J Compton (GRAND SCHENE) as to the reason why they had not declared riders by the appointed time.

As jockey K Banks (DANE SAHARA) was the only rider available, permission was granted for her to ride 1kg overweight replacing P Wolfgram who was to be 1.5kg overweight. Jockey P Wolfgram was subsequently fined the sum of $200 under AR120 (b).

SHOVENT which pulled a plate prior to entering the mounting yard was inspected by the Veterinary officer and passed to take its place in the field.

PENDAMORE and GRAND SCHEME were both slow to begin.

ABENAKI jumped away awkwardly making contact with SHOVENT.

INEXCEDE blundered on jumping away, shifted in making contact with DANE SAHARA.

Shortly after the start STYLISH IMPULSE shifted in making contact with PURE ANGEL.
Jockey P Denton (JADROY) was found guilty of careless riding under AR137 (a) for allowing his mount to shift in near the 800m when insufficiently clear of INXCEDE causing that horse to check and lose ground. Jockey P Denton was suspended from riding in races from midnight March 12, 2007 up to and including midnight March 22, 2007, a period of six (6) meetings.

DANE SAHARA hung out rounding the home turn.

Post race veterinary examination of MOLTAR, which compounded badly in the straight, could find no significant abnormalities with the gelding.

Post race Veterinary examination of PENDAMORE revealed the gelding to be shin sore in both fore legs. Connections were advised that a Veterinary certificate would be required prior to the gelding next racing.

RACE 2: XEROX SHOP TOOWOOMBA QTIS 3-Y-O MAIDEN PLATE – 1024M.
1st - Rockem 2nd – Crafty Ruler 3rd – Noteworthy 4th – Runatun

Stewards accepted the explanation from trainer J Atkins (RUNATUN) as to the reason why he dual engaged jockey K Banks as the rider.

Stewards accepted the explanation from trainer E Ropiha (DIAMOND EMBRACE) as to the reason why he had not declared a rider by the appointed time.

ORGANISED (P Wolfgram) broke through the front of the starting stalls dislodging the rider. As P Wolfgram suffered a knee injury in this incident and was unable to ride, ORGANISED was declared a late scratching at 4:47pm. Stewards ordered all monies invested on ORGANISED were to be refunded with deductions of 19c in the $1 for all win bets and 16c in the $1 for all place bets. Jockey P Wolfgram was further examined by the club doctor who advised jockey Wolfgram was stood down for the remainder of the day.

NOTEWORTHY was slow to begin.

BLONDE SPY shifted in at the start making contact with AFLING.

At the start, DIAMOND EMBRACE was tightened for room between RUNATUN, which jumped away awkwardly and BENNY ANGLE.

ROCKEM jumped away awkwardly.

Jockey N Tomizawa (NOTEWORTHY) was reprimanded for failing to make sufficient effort to relieve the pressure to BLONDE SPY when his horse was inclined to hang in, near the 800m, resulting in BLONDE SPY being tightened for room and losing ground.

DIAMOND EMBRACE raced greenly rounding the home turn resulting in NOTEWORTHY having to shift out away from its heels.

BENNY ANGLE raced wide throughout.

Post race Veterinary examination of CHEVEUX D’OR, which compounded badly, found no abnormalities.

Post race Veterinary examination of DIAMOND EMBRACE found the filly to be shin sore on the off-fore leg. Connections were advised a Veterinary certificate is required prior to the filly next racing.

RACE 3: THREE WAY RACE PHOTOS CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1024M.
1st – Gallant Pilot 2nd - Scissile 3rd – Midori Lad 4th – Dream’s Coming

DREAM’S COMING and DUSTY TAAN were both tightened for room at the start between LAURIE’S LAD and SCISSILE which shifted in.

GALLANT PILOT blundered on jumping away.

ONE FOR THE ROAD and PURDYPEEL, which were both slow to begin, came together on jumping away.

Near the 800m, DECKOBAYA steadied when DREAM’S COMING shifted in momentarily.

DUSTY TAAN raced wide throughout.

PURDYPEEL hung out throughout and rounding the home turn shifted wider forcing MIDORI LAD wider on the track.

Near the 250m, LAURIE’S LAD shifted in under pressure coming into minor contact with DECKOBAYA.

Post race Veterinary examinations of PURDYPEEL, ONE FOR THE ROAD and LAURIE’S LAD found no abnormalities.

RACE 4: CITY PACIFIC FINANCE CLASS 3 HANDICAP – 1326M.
1st – Lady’s Opinion 2nd – Ruby’s Party 3rd – Victory Hugo 4th – Star of Alaska

Jockey S Apthorpe (RUBY’S PARTY) replaced jockey G Geran who was injured at another venue.

HAPPY FARMER jumped out at the start making minor contact with VICTORY HUGO.

Approaching the 1000m HIS REFLECTION was forced to ease to avoid the heels of CRESWINA as the pace steadied.

Near the 900m VICTORY HUGO which was lying in was steadied from the heels of RUBY’S PARTY which got its head up whilst being eased from the heels of LADY’S OPINION.

VICTORY HUGO raced wide from the 800m.

Approaching the 500m STAR OF ALASKA was tightened for room and made contact with the running rail when VICTORY HUGO shifted in.

HAPPY FARMER raced wide throughout.



Approaching the 200m HAPPY FARMER, which was tiring, was forced to ease when tightened for room between RUBY’S PARTY and VICTORY HUGO which shifted in under pressure, VICTORY HUGO then continued to shift in making contact with RUBY’S PARTY. Jockey R Goltz (VICTORY HUGO) was severely reprimanded for this incident.

RACE 5: CLIVE BERGHOFER GROUP CLASS 4 HANDICAP – 1640M.
1st – Ram Jam Inn 2nd – Winsome Loot 3rd – Gowhen 4th – Spanish Tycoon

Jockey R Goltz (SHALE SHAKER) replaced jockey G Geran who was injured at another venue.

Jockey K Yoshida (ZABLINK) replaced jockey P Wolfgram who was injured in race 2 and stood down on medical advice for the remainder of the meeting.

ZABLINK was slow to begin.

MIRIMBA BAY jumped with its head in the air losing ground.

WINSOME LOOT over-raced in the early and middle stages of the race.

Approaching the 500m SPANISH TYCOON shifted out making contact with SHALE SHAKER forcing that runner wider on the track.

GOWHEN and ZABLINK were both held up for clear running from the 400m to the early stages of the home straight.

Leaving the 200m ZABLINK was again disappointed for a run to the inside of ROSIBOY which shifted in.

M Kropp, the trainer of MIRIMBA BAY, which tailed off badly, could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance apart from this race being the horse’s first start under lights. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance app S Bogenhuber stated the horse had travelled well to the 800m and from that point she felt the horse had laboured breathing and over the final 400m elected to stop placing pressure on the horse as she felt that there was something amiss with the gelding. Stewards advised trainer Kropp to monitor the horse and advise of any changes in its condition. Post race Veterinary examination of MIRIMBA BAY could find no abnormalities.

When questioned regarding the performance of beaten favourite SHALE SHAKER, rider R Goltz stated the horse had travelled well to the 600m and when he placed pressure on the horse it had failed to run on. He further stated that over the final 200m he was very disappointed with the way the horse finished the race off. Trainer C Pollard stated that, in his opinion the gelding has only a short sprint and that he felt the horse was unable to sustain its run when placed under pressure early in the race. Post race Veterinary examination of SHALE SHAKER could find no abnormalities.







RACE 6: LIVESTOCK TRANSPORT GROUP CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1640M.
1st – Fair Halo 2nd – Another Ransom 3rd – Local Dust 4th – New South

Jockey K Yoshida (TORINO LUGE) replaced jockey P Wolfgram who was injured in race 2.

LOCAL DUST blundered on jumping away.

ANOTHER RANSOM and DANE SPRING were both slow to begin.

SIR LARA shifted in shortly after the start.

Near the 1400m SIR LARA commenced to over race whilst being eased from the heels of JUST JEDDAH. SIR LARA continued to over race to near the 800m.

DELESIA was inclined to over race when eased from the heels of NEW SOUTH near the 1300m.

Leaving the 400m JUST JEDDAH shifted out making contact with TORINO LUGE forcing that horse wider on the track.

LOCAL DUST was inclined to shift out under pressure over the concluding stages.

Once placed under pressure in the home straight NEW SOUTH was inclined to lay in causing the rider difficulty in fully testing his mount.

RACE 7: WEETWOOD TICKETS ON SALE NOW CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1226M.
1st – One Small Step 2nd – Semi Impose 3rd – Agent Eightysix 4th – Novesta

Jockey N Tomizawa (ZED STREET) replace jockey G Geran who was injured at another venue.

As no other senior rider was available Stewards granted permission for App H Hamada (PENALIZED) to replace jockey P Wolfgram who was injured in race 2.

CLASSY SYL jumped in at the start taking SEMI IMPOSE in onto ONE SMALL STEP.

NOVESTA, ROCKABABE and WIDE BAY were all slow to begin.

NOVESTA, ZED STREET and FORTY WINKS were all tightened for room leaving the 800m to the inside of KOVU.

App H Hamada (PENALIZED) found guilty and charged of careless riding under AR 137(a) in that near the 400m he placed pressure on CLASSY SYL resulting in that horse running out of room and having to be checked and lose ground which in turn resulted in FORTY WINKS which was travelling behind, also having to check and lose ground, ZED STREET which was racing to the outside was buffeted and became awkward to the inside of ONE SMALL STEP. App H Hamada was suspended from riding in races commencing midnight March 10, 2007 up to and including midnight March 21, 2007, a period of seven (7) meetings.

Leaving the 400m SEMI IMPOSE shifted out causing WIDE BAY to be eased.

Post race Veterinary examination of PENALIZED could find no abnormalities, however the Veterinary officer did advise the gelding had lost the near-fore plate in running and a small portion of the hoof had broken away as a result.

Post race Veterinary examination of KOVU which was forced to race wide throughout, could find no abnormalities.

Post race Veterinary examination of ZED STREET revealed the gelding had sustained minor lacerations to the lower off-hind leg.
