SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS

Toowoomba Turf Club 11-10-08 Race 3:– Apprentice A Winfield (HIGH DEE) was reprimanded for failing to ride her mount out to the finish – AR137 (b)

Jockey G Lynch reported ill and replaced on all rides as per summary sheet.

RACE 1: HIGHFIELD MANORS QTIS 3YO MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1300M.
1st – Que 2nd – Sam’s Crossing 3rd – Chadwick 4th – Famous Fortune

CHADWICK (S Apthorpe) was slow to begin.

At the start QUE (P Spry) jumped outwards making heavy contact with FAMOUS FORTUNE (S Drake).

Leaving the 1100m, QUE (P Spry) commenced to over race and continued to do so until a point approaching the 800m.

Leaving the 500m, FAMOUS FORTUNE (S Drake) was disappointed for a run and forced to steady to the inside of CHADWICK (S Apthorpe), which shifted in.

QUE (P Spry) raced wide from the 600m onwards.

WIP (J Brown) was inclined to lie in from the 400m onwards.

A post race Veterinary examination of COPERNICA (C Spry) revealed the filly to be sore and suffering the symptoms of a bowed off-fore tendon. Trainer R Maund’s representative was advised a Veterinary certificate is required prior to the filly next racing.



RACE 2: HIGHFIELD MANORS CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1300M.
1st – Kell’s Way 2nd – Silversmith 3rd – Tully Tenor 4th – Bucksome Belle

BALHAM (R Hinricks) was considerably slow to begin.

Near the 900m, LET’S BOUGGIE (K Yoshida) over-raced on the heels of MENOTTI (S Richardson) for a short distance.

Near the 400m, ARDMILAN (J Pujolas) which was tiring quickly laid in coming into heavy contact with PRANK CALLER (B Evans), which was taken in onto SECRET REQUEST (N Evans).

Near the 350m, LET’S BOUGGIE (K Yoshida) shifted out abruptly to avoid the heels of the tiring ARDMILAN (J Pujolas) making heavy contact with MENOTTI (S Richardson), which in turn shifted out making contact with ROCKTARI (A Merritt). SON OF ARES (S Holcombe) was also forced to check and shift out to take evasive action. Trainer I Duke (ARDMILAN) was advised the gelding is to be scoped prior to next racing.

SON OF ARES (S Holcombe) and BUCKSOME BELLE (S Drake) raced wide throughout.

LET’S BOUGGIE (K Yoshida) returned to scale with blood in both nostrils and under AR53A is barred from racing for a period of three months.

Following race 2, Stewards upgraded the track rating to Good – 3 at 4.50 p.m.

RACE 3: CLIVE BERGHOFER LAND SALES CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1000M.
1st – Cattleman 2nd – Pat Attack 3rd – Lady Showheart 4th – Actions

Jockey C Spry (ACTIONS) replaced P Spry who was unable to make the required weight. Jockey P Spry was subsequently found guilty under AR120 (b) and fined the sum of $200.

JARHNNE (N Evans) was slow to begin.

WHISPERING GYPSY (J Brown), which was slow to begin, was further hampered between WILD GLOW (A Winfield) and LITEASAIR (S Drake) both of which shifted ground.

Approaching the 500m, JARHNNE (N Evans) raced with its head in the air for a short distance and lost ground.

Leaving the 500m, PAT ATTACK (K Yoshida) improved onto the heels of DIASCO (A Merritt) and had to be steadied.

LADY SHOWHEART (R Goltz) raced wide on the home turn.

LITEASAIR (S Drake) raced wide throughout.

A post race veterinary examination of JARHNNE (N Evans) revealed the mare to be showing the early signs of a virus. Trainer M Currie advised Stewards that the mare would now be spelled.

Jockey C Spry (ACTIONS) was reminded of his obligations in riding his mount out to the finish line.

Apprentice A Winfield (WILD GLOW) pleaded guilty to a charge under AR137(b) in that she stopped riding near the 100m and failed to ride her mount out from that point onwards. Apprentice A Winfield was suspended from riding in races for a period of two weeks commencing midnight October 18.10.08 and concluding midnight 01.11.08

RACE 4: FUTURE AUTOMOTIVE SERVICES CLASS 4 HANDICAP – 1200M.
1st – Icedane 2nd – Decibella 3rd – Pearly Mist 4th – Patties Mate

STRADDI (K Yoshida) and ICEDANE (S Drake), which were both slow to begin, were further hampered shortly after the start when SHOW BIZ MISS (R Goltz)shifted out and away from PEARLY MIST (S Bogenhuber), which shifted out.

ICEDANE (S Drake) was held up for clear running from leaving the 500m to approaching the 300m.

PEARLY MIST (S Bogenhuber) raced wide throughout.

When questioned regarding the poor performance of SUBTLE GLANCE, trainer D Schmidt advised Stewards he felt the gelding had come to the end of his preparation and would now be sent for a spell. A post race Veterinary examination of SUBLTLE GLANCE failed to find any abnormalities.

RACE 5: WINDAMERE HOMES CLASS 6 PLATE – 1600M.
1st – Palace Lover 2nd – Spectacular Pic 3rd – Attackengo 4th – Mozambesi

PALACE LOVER (G Hoobin) was slow to begin.

Shortly after the start, RULES FOR LIFE (S Apthorpe), PICWORTH (C Spry) and TIME AND DANDY (R Goltz) were all tightened for room between SUPER PRINCE (M Dorrington) and FAIR ACE (R Hinricks) which was taken out by ATTACKENGO (S Holcombe).

FAIR ACE (R Hinricks) raced fiercely in the early and middle stages of the race.

SUPER PRINCE (M Dorrington), which blundered at the 1400m crossing, then became unbalanced until a point approaching the 1200m.

PALACE LOVER (G Hoobin) raced wide from the 700m onwards.

RACE 6: G & M CONSULTANTS QTIS MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1600M.
1st – Super Wonton 2nd – Legally Ours 3rd – Stiletto Heels 4th – Three Tales

Jockey R Goltz (SUPER WONTON) replaced P Spry who was unable to make the required weight.

STILLETO HEELS (B Evans), TYRCONNELL (S Bogenhuber) and WHATAHOUTE (A Taylor) were all slowly away.

KWILLEM (G Hoobin) raced wide during the early stages.

Near the 1000m, LEGALLY OURS (J Brown), which was inclined to over race was steadied when tightened for room between LAVA MAN (N Evans) and KWILLEM (G Hoobin), which hung in at that point.

Approaching the 700m, LAVA MAN (N Evans) shifted out forcing LEGALLY OURS (J Brown) wider on the track. LEGALLY OURS (J Brown) raced wide from this point onwards.

Approaching the 500m, TYRCONNELL (S Bogenhuber) was forced to steady and shift in to avoid the heels of the tiring KWILLEM (G Hoobin).

Near the 300m TYRCONNELL (S Bogenhuer) had difficulty obtaining clear running.

Post race veterinary inspection of PURE DREAMS, which tailed off, found the horse to have a poor recovery rate. Connections were advised that the results of an ECG and Endoscopic examination are required prior to next start.

When questioned regarding the improved performance of SUPER WONTON (R Goltz), Trainer N Hocking stated that, in his opinion, the distance of todays’ event was more suitable for the gelding and that this coupled with both a gear change of Winkers on and the drop in class of todays event contributed to the forward showing. Explanation was noted.

RACE 7: BOSS CONSTRUCTIONS MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M.
1st – Light the Tunnel 2nd – Relative Velocity 3rd – Forever More 4th – Worthy

RELATIVE VELOCITY (S Bogenhuber) was difficult to load causing a delay. Trainer D Gollan’s representative was advised a warning is placed on the filly.

SEQUINS ‘N’ PEARLS (G Hoobin) was slowly away and raced wide throughout.

CHECK THE LEADER (A Taylor) and RELATIVE VELOCITY (S Bogenhuber) were both slowly away.

Near the 900m, WORTHY (P Spry) threw its head in the air whilst being steadied to avoid the heels of GRADUEIGHT (J Brown), which shifted in.

Near the 800m, ARGENTA (C Spry) and FOREVER MORE (S Drake) were both tightened for room to the inside of ARAYNAM (S Apthorpe) which shifted in.
