SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

From BRC, Race 6, 28.12.13

Trainer R. Heathcote advised a further veterinary examination of Pinch River, revealed some sensitivity to its suspensory attachment in the near foreleg, and is receiving treatment and will keep Racing Queensland advised.

Mr Patrick Stephens was fined $200 for working as a stablehand whilst unregistered.

Trainer B. Currie was fined $500 for failing to present his Record of Treatment Book to stewards when requested. B. Currie was also fined $200 for employing the services of an unregistered person.

Race 1: Wimmers Soft Crinks Class 1 H'cap – 1000m

SAY I WON’T (T. O’Hara) was slow to begin.

TOTAL AUTHORITY (N. Yamada) jumped away awkwardly.

CHAMPAGNE ELOPING (R. Jamieson) jumped inwards at the start and made contact with PEZENAS (N. Tomizawa).

Leaving the 700m, CHAMPAGNE ELOPING improved to the inside of the heels of ZAHA’S ACE (R. Wiggins) where there was insufficient room and had to be steadied.

TOTAL AUTHORITY, MAGNETIC MISS (J. Orman), STARZOU (T. Bell), and GREY COUNTESS (B. Evans) raced wide throughout.

GREY COUNTESS laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.


Race 2: Billo Castles Memorial Benchmark 75 H'cap – 1625m

DIAGO was declared a late scratching at 8.20 am on veterinary advice.

STARSTREAMED (B. Appo) and BELWINA (A. Taylor) were slow to begin.

When the pace slackened in the middle stages, BLAKTAR (S. Bogenhuber) overraced at the heels of CARN (G. Geran) and had to be restrained.

B. Appo, rider of STARSTREAMED, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that near the 500m he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of BLAKTAR (S. Bogenhuber), resulting in that horse clipping the heels of STARSTREAMED and blundering, losing ground. B. Appo was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings, to commence at midnight, 31 December and to expire at midnight, 12 January 2014.

STARSTREAMED laid in over the concluding stages when under pressure.


Race 3: Niel Mansell Transport Maiden H'cap – 1200m

The start of this race was delayed when GOLDEN CASH (A. Allen) became fractious in the barriers, dislodging the rider.

SUPERCOACH (M. Cahill) jumped with its head in the air.

ZODIAC (Michael Palmer) was slow to begin.

BILLABONG BIRD (J. Orman) made the turn awkwardly at the 900m and shifted out and had to be steadied from the heels of ARTALO (T. Bell).

MASTER CAT (L. Cassidy) raced wide for the majority of the race, and near the 300m had to be steadied when tightened for room between SUPERCOACH (M. Cahill) and LOVETHENIGHTLIFE (A. Allen), which shifted out slightly.



Race 4: Tyrrell’s Wines Maiden H'cap – 1200m

As J. Kehoe was overweight, Michael Palmer was substituted as the rider of VICKI’S CHOICE.

At the request of rider James Orman, ALMASEA was examined by the veterinary surgeon prior to the start and passed suitable to race.

ALMASEA (J. Orman) was slow to begin.

HOW SWEET (D. McIntosh) jumped away awkwardly.

VICKI’S CHOICE (Michael Palmer) was laying on the side partition prior to the start and as a result jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

Leaving the 1000m, TELL A STORY (M. Hellyer) shifted in despite the efforts of its rider, resulting in HOW SWEET (D. McIntosh) being tightened for room between TELL A STORY and MELODIAL (K. Yoshida) and having to be steadied. HOW SWEET became unbalanced in this incident and lost ground.

P. Holmes reported that DASHING CONQUEROR hung out from the 500m and proved difficult to ride out in the straight.

LOUPPY BEND (S. Bogenhuber) raced 3 wide without cover throughout the event.

MELODIAL (K. Yoshida) hung in throughout the event.

A post race veterinary examination of ALMASEA, which compounded badly in the straight, failed to reveal any abnormality. Trainer L. Fraser advised stewards that, in his view, the mare was suffering from muscle soreness following the event.

Race 5: Clifton Sand and Gravel Country Cup Special Conditions H'cap – 1200m

Due to a heavy thunderstorm this race was delayed and rescheduled to jump at 6.12 pm.

SPANISH SUN was declared a late scratching at 6.12 pm on veterinary advice. Subsequent to the event, all monies invested on SPANISH SUN were ordered to be refunded, with the following deductions applicable to successful wagers place prior to the withdrawal time: 7 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 6 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets for the winner, MIND YOU, 9 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets for 2nd placegetter BEAUTIFUL BARB.


Race 6: Brisbane Bloodstock Hopeful Plate – 1000m

Near the 700m, ANOTHER WHISKEY (B. El-Issa), when racing greenly, shifted in and bumped EEJAY STYLE (R. Wiggins), which in turn shifted in and made contact with LA TENZA (S. Apthorpe).

Rounding the home turn, SARISARA (K. Yoshida) shifted out around the heels of VIENNA ROYALE (C. Munce) to obtain clear running and in doing so made contact with FIFTYSHADES DARKER (M. Cahill).

VIENNA ROYALE (C. Munce) hung out rounding the home turn.

RAMBLIN’ DAISY (Michael Palmer) hung out rounding the home turn and continued to shift ground outwards over the concluding stages, inconveniencing VIENNA ROYALE near the 100m.

ANOTHER WHISKEY laid in under pressure in the home straight.

When asked about the performance of EEJAY STYLE, jockey R. Wiggins said his mount travelled well in the early stages and felt he was a winning chance rounding the home, however EEJAY STYLE did not respond to his riding in the straight and proved disappointing. R. Wiggins added that the filly raced like it needed further.


Race 7: TRC City of Toowoomba Bernborough H'cap – 1625m

Correct weight was delayed to enable stewards to view the video footage of the concluding stages to ascertain whether there were grounds to lodge an objection on behalf of the connections of PEPPERWOOD (M.Hellyer) relevant to an incident near the 50m involving the first and second placegetters. After viewing the official footage, stewards did not believe there were grounds on which to lodge an objection and correct weight was semaphored on the Judge’s placings.

R. McMahon, rider BENNY’S BUTTONS, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that approaching the 1100m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of BLACK CASH (M. Cahill), resulting in BLACK CASH being taken in on to ALMA’S FURY (G. Colless), resulting in G. Colless having to take hold of that horse and lose his rightful running. R. McMahon was suspended from riding in races, to commence at midnight, 8 meetings, to 4 January and to expire at midnight, 18 January 2013.

G. Colless, rider of ALMA’S FURY, was severely reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift out passing the 300m, resulting in ROTHERA (C. Whiteley) being tightened between ALMA’S FURY and DANAGAZE (T. Bell) having to be steadied.

Leaving the 300m, SCORPIO QUEEN (J. Byrne) shifted in and bumped BILLY AUCASH (R. Wiggins), which in turn shifted inwards, taking BLACK CASH (M. Cahill) in on to ABSALON (L. Cassidy), which when tiring became unbalanced and lost ground.

Inside the final 50m, PEPPERWOOD was disappointed for a run between ESSINGTON (B. El-Issa) and SCORPIO QUEEN (J. Byrne).

B. Wakefield, trainer of FIREBOLT, which compounded from the 600m, will be interviewed with regards to the horse’s immediate racing future.



Race 8: Strathayr F&M H'cap – 1200m

At scale A. Taylor reported that ELLAWISDOM was slow to begin and failed to muster early speed.

G. Goold reported that AIN’T SHE SWEET travelled well in the early stages and was under pressure passing the 500m and tired badly over the concluding stages.

MISS IMAGICA (S. Bogenhuber) hung out when racing wide in the middle stages.

R. Ride reported that AROUND THE WORLD was inclined to hang out approaching and rounding the home turn, and in an endeavour to have AROUND THE WORLD race truly she allowed it to run along leaving the 500m. She further informed stewards that AROUND THE WORLD continued to lay out and shifted its ground appreciably over the concluding stages.


Race 9: We Run As One Benchmark 80 H'cap – 1200m

WINDEL TORI, which reared over in the enclosure, was examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to start.

EMOTICON (N. Tomizawa) jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

Both L. Rolls (NAKANAI) and B. Evans (REGAL PRINCE) were severely reprimanded for allowing their mounts to shift ground inside the 200m, resulting in WINDEL TORI (A. Taylor), which was tiring, having to be steadied.

PREACHER BOY (T. Bell) and SPOT ON MAGGIE (C. Munce) raced wide throughout.
