SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
From Toowoomba, 14.3.14 – Race 5.
Trainer M. Nolan reported to stewards that upon returning to his stables Princess Dat bled from both nostrils. As this was the first occasion on which it has bled, Princess Dat will now be barred from racing for a period of 3 months.
Race 7.
Trainer P. Facoory reported that following the poor performance of Darlisha the filly was found to be in season upon returning to his stables, which may have affected its performance. Mr Facoory further advised that he will step the filly up in distance for its next start, following which he will review its racing future.
From Toowoomba, 15.3.14
Following the disappointing performance of Heavenly Class, trainer J. Anderson reported that veterinary examinations revealed the filly to be a grade 3 roarer. Ms Anderson further advised that based on this advice, Heavenly Class will undergo a wind operation to rectify the issue.
Race 7.
Trainer K. Kemp advised that Plumage, which was found to be lame following this event, was still lame in the days after the event as a result of muscle tears and as such has been sent for a spell.

Race 1: Like TTC On Face Book Class 3 Plate – 1650m
ILLUDE (J. Letherby) was slow to begin.
MORVEN (G. Geran) was steadied at the start to avoid the heels of OUTBACK PRIDE (J. Orman), which was taken out by WARP NINE (B. Stower).
Rounding the turn near the 1300m, YOUR GIRL OR MINE (S. Bogenhuber) threw its head in the air whilst being restrained. YOUR GIRL OR MINE then raced keenly for a considerable distance after this point.
MORVEN was held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight.
G. Geran, rider of MORVEN, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that near the 150m he permitted his mount to shift in in an endeavour to obtain clear running when insufficiently clear of HOT TESTA (N. Evans), resulting in HOT TESTA being tightened for room and clipping the heels of MORVEN and losing ground at that point. G. Geran was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings, to commence at midnight, 23 March and to expire at midnight, 6 April.
Jockey N. Evans expressed disappointment in the performance of HOT TESTA. He advised that the gelding travelled well throughout the event, however when placed under pressure failed to respond to his riding. Jockey Evans further added that whilst the horse did meet with significant interference near the 150m, it was a beaten horse prior to this point.
Race 2: Suna Shoes & Accessories Class 1 H'cap – 1200m
The start was delayed slightly when S. Bogenhuber was dislodged from MIDNIGHT BEAUTY behind the barriers. Jockey Bogenhuber was examined by ambulance officials and cleared to fulfil her remaining engagements.
RUSTIC PLAY (N. Evans) jumped outwards at the start and made heavy contact with HURRICANE CASSIE (G. Geran).
Shortly after the start, THAIDAY (L. Rolls) had to be steadied from the heels of MAKOSSA (N. Yamada), which shifted in marginally.
Near the 900m, MODERN ROSE (J. Letherby) and LITTLE ORPO (A. Fancourt) were both tightened for room between KOKADOODLEDOO (B. Stower), which shifted in marginally, and TANGARA (E.Ljung), which shifted out after being bumped by MIDNIGHT BEAUTY (S. Bogenhuber). As a result, LITTLE ORPO was forced to be steadied to avoid the heels of KOKADOODLEDOO.
After passing the 200m, MAKOSSA was tightened for room when attempting a run between KOKADOODLEDOO and THAIDAY, which shifted out marginally. MAKOSSO then had a tendency to lay in for the remainder of the event.
KOKADOODLEDOO, MILITARY BRIDE (N. Tomizawa) and HURRICANE CASSIE all raced wide throughout.
Race 3: RMA Engineers QTIS 3yo H'cap – 1100m
REAL FAVULOUS (J. Orman), which was slightly slow to begin, was further hampered at the start by TIERES ROCK (N. Tomizawa), which shifted in and made contact with that runner.
BUSH CAVIAR (G. Geran) had a tendency to hang out from the 500m until the early stages of the home straight.
A. Fancourt, rider of TINTO, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that near the 900m she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of REAL FAVULOUS (J. Orman), resulting in that runner being tightened for room and forced to be checked. A. Fancourt was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 7 meetings, to commence at midnight, 29 March and to expire at midnight, 11 April.
After passing the 200m, BUSH CAVIAR (G. Geran) shifted in under pressure marginally, resulting in TINTO (A. Fancourt), which was following, being steadied and obliged to shift in to secure clear running.
Race 4: Precinct Urban Planning Benchmark 80 H'cap – 1200m
LOTTO HILL (B. Stower) jumped inwards at the start and made contact with AROUND THE WORLD (N. Yamada).
SKY EFFORT (G. Geran) began awkwardly.
Near the 1000m, SILVER COMMAND (S. Bogenhuber) shifted in abruptly and made contact with the running rail.
TOUGH TAIMZ (N. Tomizawa) and DR BARNARD (A. Fancourt) were held up for clear running from the 400m until the early stages of the home straight.
LOTTO HILL (B. Stower), KYOGLE TOWN (J. Letherby) and KNOCKABOUT (N. Evans) raced wide for the majority of the race.
Race 5: Aspect Architects & Project Managers Class 2 H'cap – 1000m
Both KASEY CHELSEA (A. Fancourt) and JOINT INITIATIVE (S. Bogenhuber) hung out rounding the home turn.
GULLY COMMAND (B. Stower) raced wide throughout.
Stewards questioned B. Stower in relation to the tactics adopted on GULLY COMMAND whereby the colt raced wide for the majority of the event. Of concern to stewards was whether there was an opportunity for her to obtain a position closer to the rails in the early stages. Apprentice Stower advised that after beginning fairly she initially was of the view to attempt to obtain a trailing position behind JOINT INITIATIVE in the early stages, however she felt that she would have to overly restrain the colt in the early stages to assume this position. Apprentice Stower further advised that following this she attempted to ride her mount forward to cross JOINT INITIATIVE, which would have positioned her outside the leader, however when JOINT INITIATIVE maintained its position to her inside, she was unable to cross and as a result was forced to race 3 wide for the remainder of the event. After reviewing the film, apprentice Stower agreed with the assessment of the stewards that it would have been more beneficial for her to restrain her mount in the early stages to a trailing position behind JOINT INITIATIVE which would have afforded her a better run throughout.
Stewards questioned apprentice E. Ljung in relation to her riding of CAPTAIN SPUR in the home straight whereby the gelding was held up for clear running from passing the 100m, resulting in CAPTAIN SPUR going to the line without being fully tested. Apprentice Ljung advised it was her intention to obtain clear running to the inside of KASEY CHELSEA, which hung out rounding the home turn, however when attempting to obtain this run in the early stages of the home straight, she was of the view that KASEY CHELSEA was shifting back in at that point of the race and as a result she committed herself to the outside of that horse’s heels, however when JOINT INITIATIVE laid in under pressure, it resulted in her being held up. Stewards noted the explanation.
M. Abe, rider of the winner HI HI, was fined $200 for making a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post.
Race 6: Dan Flohr Mechnical Maiden Plate – 1300m
KADJABI JILL, which was injured at its stable complex, was declared a late scratching at
4.05 pm.
QALAERAL (S. Bogenhuber) and SAGA BOMB (A. Fancourt) made contact on jumping away.
MISTER LOOSEEL (J. Letherby) began awkwardly and lost ground.
SELFIE (J. Orman) raced ungenerously whilst being restrained in the early and middle stages.
Race 7: Suncorp Bank Maiden Plate – 1650m
Following Race 6, jockey S. Bogenhuber advised stewards that she was feeling the effects of being dislodged at the barriers in Race 2, and was subsequently stood down from her engagement on DEUTERONOMY and replaced by A. Merritt.
HENNY BOY (J. Kehoe) was very slow to begin.
Near the 1200m, TELL A STORY (J. Orman) improved onto the heels of NEVER IGNORE (A. Fancourt) and had to be steadied.
HENNY BOY and LAWMAKER (A. Pattillo) raced wide from the 700m to a point near the 400m.
Passing the 400m, TELL A STORY (J. Orman) improved onto the heels of the tiring ZODIAC and was eased.
OUR BOY (N. Yamada) was held up from the 500m to rounding the home turn and was inclined to shift out under pressure in the home straight.
Stewards sought an explanation from jockey N. Evans with regard to the seemingly disappointing performance of ZODIAC. Jockey Evans stated that he obtained a forward position on the horse as per instructions, however it never travelled comfortably and hung out throughout. He was unable to offer any further explanation for the performance. Stable representative D. Joyce will be contacted regarding the disappointing performance.
Stewards questioned jockey A. Merritt regarding the performance of DEUTERONOMY, which trailed the field by a significant distance throughout and was uncompetitive. A. Merritt stated that DEUTERONOMY refused to stretch out in the early stages, resulting in the horse losing significant ground, which required him to pressure the gelding throughout the event. He added that DEUTERONOMY failed to respond to his riding and approaching the home turn he elected not to pressure the horse any further as it was not responding. A post race veterinary examination of DEUTERONOMY failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer P. Nolan was advised that the gelding would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to its next race start.
