MISS MINNIEME (M. Vance) stood flatfooted at the start and lost ground.

Approaching the 800m, RHODRY (S. Apthorpe) was forced to steady to avoid the heels of SOLO SOPRANO (L. Cassidy), which shifted in.

After being crossed by SOLO SOPRANO near the 700m, MR GOOD LOOKING (R. Ride) and NATURALLY SANDI (L. Tilley) both commenced to overrace for a short distance.

Near the 550m, MR GOOD LOOKING raced in restricted room between RHODRY and NATURALLY SANDI, which shifted our marginally.
Race 2: XXXX Gold Toowoomba Cup 1st June Benchmark 80 H'cap – 1625m

GUNNER KNOX (S. Payne) knuckled on jumping away and as a result lost ground.

GUNNER KNOX overraced in the early stages of the race.

ANCHOR BOLT (L. Tilley) raced keenly in the early stages whilst being restrained and then raced wide from the 800m.

Stewards questioned S. Payne in relation to the seemingly disappointing performance of GUNNER KNOX. Apprentice Payne advised that the gelding blundered on jumping away and as a result lost ground. He added that the his mount travelled comfortably during the middle stages, however due to the moderate tempo during the event, the gelding raced keenly and when asked to quicken from the 600m was left flatfooted and failed to run on in the home straight as expected.

A post race veterinary examination of PLAYACTION revealed the horse had been galloped on on the off hindleg during the running of the event.

Race 3: Audi Centre Toowoomba Class 1 H'cap – 1625m

As M. Hellyer was delayed in arriving at the track, R. Goltz was substituted as the rider of HEY FRISCO.

SHEZA LONHRO (T. Bell) stood flatfooted at the start and lost ground.

Near the 1400m, SHEZA LONHRO was tightened for room and forced to check when racing to the inside of UNDERCOVER ALBERT (S. Bogenhuber), which shifted in when not completely clear. MISS EXPRESS (B. Appo) and HEY FRISCO (R. Goltz), which were following, were both forced wider on the track.

CAMBO’S MATE (J. Orman) bled from both nostrils during the event. Connections were advised that CAMBO’S MATE would be barred from racing for a period of 3 months.

Stewards questioned jockey P. Holmes in relation to his riding of GOLD DEAL near the 200m whereby there appeared to be an opportunity for him to improve into a run between HIDDEN DANCER and CAMBO’S MATE, however jockey Holmes continued to shift to the outside of CAMBO’S MATE at that point of the race. Apprentice Holmes advised that at its most recent start at the Gold Coast on 19 April where he rode the gelding, it was reluctant to improve into the race between runners and therefore today he was of the view that it would be more advantageous to shift to the outside of CAMBO’S MATE to enable his mount clear and uninterrupted running to the finish. P. Holmes further advised that as a result of this manoeuvre he also felt that this placed his mount in superior going over the concluding stages.

Stewards questioned S. Payne in relation to the seemingly disappointing performance of BURNING SAILS. He advised that, in his opinion, BURNING SAILS did not feel entirely comfortable on the prevailing track surface today. A post race veterinary examination of BURNING SAILS revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind leg. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance would be required for BURNING SAILS prior to its next race start.

A post race veterinary examination of SHEZA LONHRO, which tailed off during the event, failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Jockey T. Bell advised that, in his opinion, the horse failed to handle the track conditions today.

Race 4: Mum’s Day @ TTC Sat Night QTIS 3yo Maiden H'cap – 1200m

As K. Matheson was indisposed, M. Vance was substituted as the rider of ROAD TRAIN.

LIDO (B. Evans) was slow to begin.

Near the 1100m, STAR AMORE (J. Orman) was forced to steady to avoid the heels of BLAZEN FELT (B. Appo), which shifted in abruptly to the leading position.

Passing the 900m, LUCKY DUCKY (A. Holt) was forced to steady to avoid the heels of ASYOUDO (M. Hellyer), which shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider.

During the early stages of the event, VIVID IMAGINATION (R. McMahon) raced with its head in the air whilst being restrained.

WHO’S YOUR CADDY (S. Bogenhuber) hung out from the 800m.

Near the 750m, LUCKY DUCKY (A. Holt), which was inclined to shift out, was forced to steady to avoid the heels of ASYOUDO (M. Hellyer).

Following this race, the track rating was downgraded to Dead 5 due to the deterioration of the track.

Race 5: Charlton Tyres Maiden Plate – 1100m

BLACKMORE VALE (A. Taylor), LOVE STORIES (A. Fancourt) and NO FLIES (N. Nishio) all began awkwardly.

WORLD EXPO (T. Bell) and LIFE’S LIKE THAT (R. Vigar) were tightened for room at the start between AUBREY’S ACE (R. Goltz) and REDREKA (S. Bogenhuber), which jumped inwards.

Near the 1000m, NAUTICAL LAD (J. Orman) shifted in abruptly and made heavy contact with the running rail and lost significant ground. Trainer S. Neylon was advised that NAUTICAL LAD would be required to trial in an official trial to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to racing again. A post race veterinary examination of NAUTICAL LAD failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

Passing the 750m, CHEAPER FOR CASH improved onto the heels of BLU LASS (B. Powell) and was forced to shift out.

Approaching the 100m, LOVE STORIES hung in under pressure.

On return to scale, A. Spinks advised that on pulling up he felt there was something amiss with the action of CHEAPER FOR CASH. Oakenfull was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required for CHEAPER FOR CASH prior to its next race start.

Race 6: Like TTC On Facebook Class 3 Plate – 1300m

HELL’S KITCHEN (R. Wiggins) began awkwardly and failed to muster early speed.

PRUSSIAN HEART (N. Tomizawa) hung out during the middle stages.

R. Wiggins, rider of HELL’S KITCHEN, was reprimanded for using his whip in a forehand manner on more than 5 occasions, 2 of which were in consecutive strides.

CASH IN lost its near hind plate in running.

On return to scale B. Evans, rider of SIGMUND, reported he was held up for clear running from the 500m to a point rounding the home turn, however despite this he was not of the view that this had an effect on his overall finishing position.

Following the event, G. Geran reported on return to scale that CHESTNUT VALLEY felt short in its action. A post race veterinary examination of CHESTNUT VALLEY revealed the horse to be lame in the near foreleg. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance would be required for CHESTNUT VALLEY prior to its next race start.

Stewards questioned S. Payne in relation to the seemingly disappointing performance of DON’TCRYARGENTINA. He advised that the gelding travelled well during the event, however when placed under pressure from the 500m failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing. Apprentice Payne further stated that, in his opinion, the going on the fence was inferior today, which may have been to the detriment of the gelding.

Jockey T.Bell was questioned regarding the seeming poor performance of GENERAL SHAREEF. He stated that the gelding travelled well throughout the event and into the home straight, however when placed under pressure failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing. Jockey Bell added that, in his opinion, GENERAL SHAREEF was not comfortable in the prevailing track conditions today, which he felt may have been to its detriment. Stewards noted the explanation.

SHOW AFFECTION (N. Masuda) knuckled on jumping away.

THIS IS WAR (B. Evans), which was slow to begin, raced wide throughout.

At the 300m, FRACTIONS (S. Payne) was forced to steady when tightened for room between THIS IS WAR (B. Evans) and PROXY RULER (M. Hellyer), which shifted in. M. Hellyer, rider of PROXY RULER, was advised to exercise more care.

S. Payne, rider of FRACTIONS, was reprimanded for using his whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.

Race 8: Tyrrell’s Wines Class 1 H'cap – 1200m

EASTERN PRINCE (T. Bell) and TELEMORE (M. McKenzie) made contact on jumping away.

When the pace of the race steadied near the 900m, INTERLUDE (R. Ride), which was racing keenly, shifted out abruptly to avoid the heels of MORE SAY (R. Goltz), taking BONTEENA (J. Letherby) and FRIGHTENING BOLT (J. Orman) wider on the track.

Leaving the 900m, TELEMORE, which was racing keenly in restricted room, shifted out, making contact with BEIJING DANCER (B. Stewart).
