SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
As C. Maund was ill, rider changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet.

Race 1: Clifton Sand and Gravel QTIS 2yo Maiden Plate – 1050m
HAY LIFE (J. Letherby) began awkwardly and lost ground.
Near the 900m, ROSCO (E. Ljung) was tightened for room between WHAT A TIGER (B. Appo) and MADGE (R. Goltz), which shifted in after being taken in by SPINTHESONY (B. Evans), which shifted in and away abruptly from BIMBIARRA (P. Holmes), which shifted in when not completely clear. P. Holmes, rider of BIMBIARRA, was issued with a reprimand.
A short distance later, TROYSTAR (N. Nishio) was tightened for room and checked when racing to the inside of WHAT A TIGER (B. Appo), which was tightened for room by MADGE when that runner shifted in after being taken in by SPINTHESONY, which in turn shifted in when BIMBIARRA shifted in when not completely clear. P. Holmes, rider of BIMBIARRA, was again issued with a reprimand.
BOWLED OVER (J. Orman) raced wide throughout.
Race 2: Become A TTC Member Class 1 H'cap – 1300m
Prior to the event, trainer W. Oakenfull advised stewards he would be instructing jockey N Yamada not to use the whip on MANNER RIDGE tonight as the gelding resents being struck with the whip and confirmed this was how the horse had been ridden in previous starts.
The start was delayed when THE LUCKY ONE became fractious in the barriers. The gelding was removed from the gates, examined by the veterinary surgeon deemed suitable to race.
CAZNOT (A. Best) stood flatfooted at the start and lost considerable ground.
SNOWTOP (P. Holmes) was slow into stride.
Passing the 1000m, VINO VOLO (B. Evans), which was racing keenly, improved onto the heels of VALLEY OF SUCCESS (J. Letherby) and as a result shifted wider on the track for a short distance.
Approaching the finish line, THAT SNOW ATHLETE (A. Fancourt) improved onto the heels of THE LUCKY ONE (E. Ljung) and as a result shifted out, making minor contact with EUPHONIUM (R. Goltz).
Race 3: Charlton Tyres Maiden H'cap – 1050m
Trainer T. Catip was reprimanded for failing to declare P. Holmes as the rider of BODNANT by the prescribed time. In assessing penalty, stewards took into account Mr Catip’s exemplary record regarding breaches of this rule.
On arrival on course, TONI’S LUCK cast a hind plate, which despite all attempts was unable to be refitted by the farrier. Subsequently the other hind plate was removed and the horse raced bare behind.
TONI’S LUCK (B. Appo) and SESANCHO (K. Yoshida) were both tightened for room at the start between BODNANT (P. Holmes) and STREET FEVER (S. Bogenhuber), which shifted in.
BODNANT (P. Holmes) raced very greenly during the middle stages of the event.
A post race veterinary examination of SESANCHO, which tailed off, failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. In light of tonight’s performance, trainer P. Cox advised that he would now review the current preparation of SESANCHO. Mr Cox was nevertheless advised that the gelding would not be permitted to start at TAB meetings until such time as it established better form at non TAB venues.
Trainer G. Arnold was advised that a warning would be issued to KASH FOR PATCH, which proved uncompetitive at its first race start tonight.
Following the disappointing performance of TONI’S LUCK, trainer W. Kuskopf was advised that the filly would not be permitted to start at TAB meetings until such time as it established better form at non TAB venues.
Race 4: Dea And Shai Border Wedding Class 3 H'cap – 1625m
LUXTON DEEPING (R. Goltz), which was fractious in the mounting enclosure, was examined by the veterinary surgeon on arrival at the barriers where no abnormalities were detected and the horse was passed fit to start.
In the early stages, LEPRECHAUN LAD (A. Fancourt) resented being restrained and threw its head in the air, shifting wider on the track. LEPRECHAUN LAD continued to race ungenerously and was steadied from heels on a number of occasions until a point near the 900m.
When the pace of the race eased near the 1200m, both HAKAKUNA (N. Yamada) and HELL’S KITCHEN (S. Bogenhuber) raced keenly for a short distance and shifted wider on the track to avoid heels.
GOLD DEAL (P. Holmes) laid out under pressure in the home straight and shifted wider on the track.
When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of LUXTON DEEPING, R. Goltz advised that the mare, which was very fractious in the mounting yard, began well and led the event comfortably during the early and middle stages. Jockey Goltz further added that when placed under pressure rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the home straight, LUXTON DEEPING failed to respond to his riding and proved somewhat disappointing.
Race 5: Wimmers Premium Soft Drinks Maiden Plate – 1625m
ELUSIVE CHATEAU (K. Yoshida) knuckled on jumping away.
ROCKIN’ DUDLEY (J. Letherby) was slow to begin.
In the early and middle stages, SECRET OF THE ROCK (B. Appo) raced very strongly.
J. Orman, rider of GOGERTY, was reprimanded for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.
Apprentice E. Ljung reported that passing the 1200m RING TRUE improved onto heels and as a result was forced to shift out, resulting in that runner racing ride for the remainder of the event. She further reported that after passing the 1000m she endeavoured to ride her mount forward to obtain a position closer to the rail, however was unable to do so when runners to her inside improved.
Following the disappointing performance of COSMIC MELODY (N. Yamada) tonight, trainer B. B. Robinson advised stewards it was now the intention that the mare leave his stable. A post race veterinary examination of COSMIC MELODY failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Mr Robinson was advised that should COSMIC MELODY race again it would firstly be required to officially trial satisfactorily.
Stewards questioned trainer J. Hanna in relation to the seemingly improved performance of EAT YOUR HEART OUT. Mr Hanna advised stewards that at its most recent start at Dalby on 8 June he was disappointed in the manner in which the gelding was ridden, and furthermore at its previous start to that at Ipswich on 21 May, EAT YOUR HEART OUT was forced to race wide throughout and tired over the concluding stages. He further stated that tonight he added a tongue-tie to the gelding’s gear, which he felt may have contributed to the improved performance. Stewards noted the explanation.
Following this event the track rating was downgraded to Heavy 8 retrospective to this event.
Race 6: Hannas Toowoomba Benchmark 75 H'cap – 870m
TOWNIE (E. Ljung) and AMBER ALE (S. Bogenhuber) were both tightened for room at the start between GIRLS WORLD (G. Killen) and MR THATCHER (A. Fancourt), which jumped inwards.
E. Ljung (TOWNIE) dropped her whip near the 200m.
TOWNIE and GREY COUNTESS (B. Evans) bumped near the 150m when both horses shifted ground.
Stewards will question trainer C. Williamson regarding the performance of GIRLS WORLD at a later date.
Following this race the track rating was downgraded to Heavy 9.
Race 7: Neil Mansell Transport Class 3 H'cap – 1100m
Stewards approved the late riding change of N. Yamada replacing R. Goltz on WYLIE.
Trainer B. Currie was fined $100 for failing to produce the registration papers for a EXTRA.
After beginning a little awkwardly, LORD BEAUFORT (J. Orman) was further hampered at the start when tightened between FEISTY LADY (A. Fancourt) and TURBO TEDDY (K. Yoshida), which shifted in. As a result, LORD BEAUFORT settle further back in the field than anticipated.
K. Yoshida reported that TURBO TEDDY resented the kick back and as a result raced ungenerously for a short distance and lost ground nearing the 800m.
On return to scale, K. Yoshida was dislodged from TURBO TEDDY and suffered a harmless fall.
Apprentice A. Fancourt reported that FIESTY LADY began well and obtained a forward position, however only travelled comfortably for a short distance and when placed under pressure from the 500m failed to respond to her riding and proved disappointing.
Stewards will interview jockey P. Holmes in relation to his use of the whip on EXTRA at a later time.
