Race 1: Become A TTC Member 2yo H'cap – 1050m

Apprentice E. Ljung was reprimanded for failing to claim her full allowance on WHAT A TIGER. In issuing a reprimand, stewards were mindful that apprentice Ljung was declared as a late riding engagement this morning.

BRAVE DAZZLER (N. Tomizawa) was tightened for room at the start and lost ground between CAUGHT A CRACKER (N. Yamada) and VULCANIC DRAGON (R. Vigar), which jumped inwards.

Near the 700m and again near the 500m, MAYPOLE (B. Stower) was forced to steady after improving on to the heels of SHELLEY CHINA (J. Orman). MAYPOLE was then held up for clear running until entering the straight.

BRAVE DAZZLER raced wide throughout.

Stewards questioned B. Stower in relation to the tactics adopted on MAYPOLE from the 500m whereby the filly was held up for clear running for a considerable distance when there was opportunity to shift wider on the track to the outside of SHELLY CHINA, which would have afforded her clear running from passing the 500m. Apprentice Stower advised stewards that as a result of the prevailing track conditions she had limited visibility at that point of the race due to the significant kickback onto her goggles and as a result was reluctant to shift wider on the track until such time as she was satisfied that she was clear to do so. Stewards in noting the relevant track conditions nevertheless advised apprentice Stower that, in their opinion, she had erred in not attempting to shift wider to obtain clear running sooner than she did. However, as stewards were not comfortably satisfied that her riding had fallen below the requisite standard, took the matter no further.

Race 2: Wimmers Premium soft Drinks Class 1 H'cap – 1050m

Trainer P. Facoory was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for LA CHATEAU by the prescribed time.

CRAIGLEA DANSAL (R. Faehr) was hampered at the start by SINGA’S LADY (N. Yamada), which jumped outwards.

JEB’S BOY (J. Orman), which was a little slow to begin, was further hampered at the start by RUSTIC PLAY (S. Bogenhuber), which shifted out.

LA CHATEAU (N. Nishio) laid in under pressure in the home straight.

On return to scale, J. Orman reported to stewards that JEB’S BOY, after being hampered at the start, was forced to race further back in the field than he anticipated. He added that as a result of this, in his opinion, the gelding resented the kick back off the track and proved disappointing.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of DUSTY, jockey K. Yoshida advised that he obtained a midfield position tonight, however, in his opinion, the mare failed to handle the prevailing track condition and never travelled comfortably throughout the event. He added that as DUSTY was first-up tonight without trialling, it suggested to him it would derive a fitness benefit out of the race. A post race veterinary examination of DUSTY revealed a slow post-race recovery.

Race 3: TTC Racing Awards 13th September Class 4 H'cap – 1050m

Correct weight was delayed to allow stewards to consider whether a protest should be lodged on behalf of the connections of second placegetter, THIS IS WAR, against EMBRAER being declared the winner due to interference shortly after the start. After viewing the patrol films, and bearing in mind the margin between the relevant horses at the conclusion of the race, stewards could not be satisfied that a protest was warranted and correct weight was declared on the Judge’s placings.

PALPITATE (A. Merritt) was tightened for room at the start between SANDY VIEW (N. Nishio) and VICE OR VIRTUE (E. Ljung), which shifted out.

Shortly after the start, THIS IS WAR (J. Orman) was tightened for room and forced to ease when racing between TOWNIE (S. Bogenhuber) and EMBRAER (R. Vigar), which shifted in when not fully clear. R. Vigar, rider of EMBRAER, was reprimanded.

R. Vigar, rider of EMBRAER, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that leaving the 900m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of TOWNIE, resulting in that horse having to be checked to avoid the heels of EMBRAER. R. Vigar was suspended from riding in races for a period covered by 8 meetings, to commence midnight, 26 July and expire at midnight, 8 August.

Near the 500m, EMBRAER made contact with the running rail and became unbalanced.

DEEP HEAT (N. Yamada) raced wide throughout.

Race 4: Charlton Tyre Service Class 2 H'cap – 1300m

Trainer B. Currie’s representative was advised that a $200 fine would be imposed for failing to engage S. Fawke as the rider of HOT TESTA. R. Vigar was subsequently declared as the rider of HOT TESTA when S. Fawke failed to arrive on course.

HOT TESTA (R. Vigar) raced wide throughout.

BARAKULA (E. Ljung) laid out rounding the home turn.

Stewards questioned apprentice E. Ljung and trainer L. Morrison regarding the disappointing performance of BARAKULA. Apprentice Ljung advised that after beginning well she obtained a forward position where the gelding travelled comfortably in the early stages of the event. She further added that her mount was under pressure from the 600m, which she attributed to the horse not being entirely comfortable in the prevailing track conditions tonight. Mrs Morrison advised that following the disappointing performance of BARAKULA, the gelding would now be sent for an immediate spell.

Race 5: Functions @ TTC BM80 H'cap – 1625m

HERE’S ROGER was declared a late scratching at 7.33 am.

Leaving the 600m, EXTREME MOVER (S. Bogenhuber) was momentarily tightened for room between MODERN AL (J. Orman) and CRAIGLEA BLONDIE (R. Faehr).

J. Orman, rider of the winner MODERN AL, was fined $200 for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

Race 6: Neil Mansell Transport Maiden H'cap – 1000m

ATTACK JACK (E. Ljung), which was slow to begin, was further hampered at the start between SECOND LOVE (N. Nishio) and BAY ENZO (B. Stower), both of which shifted ground.

Near the 700m, LORD WIVENHOE (N. Yamada) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of BAY ENZO, which shifted out.

STRONG BLACK (J. Orman) laid out rounding the home turn.

ATTACK JACK raced greenly in the home straight.

A post race veterinary examination of CRYSTAL BEACH revealed the filly sustained a laceration to the coronet on the near foreleg.

Race 7: Channel 7 Maiden Plate – 2150m

EM ONE (C. Small) was tightened for room at the start between NODLAND (J. Orman) and GOGERTY (E. Ljung), which jumped inwards.

OUR LITTLE MISSY (S. Fawke) was slow to begin.

On return to scale J. Orman reported that NODLAND raced keenly during the early and middle stages of the event.

Approaching the 400m, PUNTERS JOURNEY (S. Bogenhuber) was momentarily forced to steady to avoid the heels of OUR LITTLE MISSY, which shifted in.

A post race veterinary examination of EM ONE, which tailed off, failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer’s representative for K. Purdy advised that it was now the intention to retire the horse.
