MAJOR LEGACY – Bumped with another runner approaching the 100m. When asked to comment on the seemingly disappointing performance, apprentice B . Stower stated that the gelding travelled well in the early and middle stages when racing on the outside of the leader, however when placed under pressure in the home straight her mount failed to respond to her riding and proved disappointing.
IL PADRONE – Bumped with another runner at the start. Commenced to weaken from the 600m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
FOREWARD STRIKE – Bumped with another runner at the start. Bumped with another runner approaching the 100m.
A LADYS COMPLIMENT – Bumped with another runner at the start.
BLAZING ASALT – Bumped with another runner at the start. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse had bled from both nostrils. As this was the second occasion on which the gelding has bled, it will incur a mandatory lifetime bar from racing.
GOGERTY – Inclined to lay in under pressure in the home straight.
STAR OF AQUARIUS – When asked to explain her riding rounding the home turn, jockey S. Bogenhuber stated that she was placing her mount under pressure at that point, however A LADYS COMPLIMENT improved to her inside and due to that runner travelling better than her mount it was able to push out and obtain clear running. Stewards accepted the explanation.
Race 2: HYNE AND SON CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1200M
DR LEWICKI – Laid out rounding the home turn.
TIMELESS TALE – Slow to begin. When questioned with regards to the seemingly disappointing performance, apprentice B. Stower stated that the mare was back in distance today and as a result it got back further in the field than she had anticipated. She stated that her mount was not comfortable on today’s track and did not travel at any stage throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
SPIHRO – Laid in over the concluding stages. When asked to comment on the seemingly improved performance, trainer K. Hickmott stated that he was very pleased with the gelding’s first run at Ipswich when finishing close to the placegetters. He added that the horse’s second-up run did not displease him as it struck some interference in the middle stages of the race which he felt had a detrimental effect on the performance. He further added that in his opinion the horse appreciates tracks with some give in them and felt that these factors had contributed to the improved performance. Stewards noted the explanation.
SUEMORI – Obliged to race three wide for the majority of the event.
GOLD DEAL – Slow to begin.
LEICA PEGASUS – Slow to begin.
Race 3: JAMES HARDIE QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H'CAP – 1100M
FLYING LUCKY – Made heavy contact with another runner on jumping away. Checked and lost ground when tightened for room leaving the 1000m.
LA NINA SONADOR – Shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider leaving the 1000m, causing tightening to other runners.
AQUAMARINE – Shifted in near the 900m and had to be steadied from heels.
BOMBAY ROCK – Slow to begin and then was reluctant to compete in the early stages and raced ungenerously. When questioned with regards to the performance, rider G. Geran stated that the horse jumped very awkwardly and was reluctant to compete despite his urgings. He added that he was required to pressure the horse throughout and that the horse responded to his riding from the middle stages and made up significant ground in the home straight. Trainer S. Iverson was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly’s racing manners.
FINE OWNER – Checked and lost ground when tightened for room leaving the 1000m.
SNAP FREEZE – Made heavy contact with another runner on jumping away. Tightened for room shortly after the start. Checked and lost ground when tightened for room leaving the 1000m.

SWEET AND SAVAGE – Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped another runner. When questioned regarding the performance, apprentice E. Ljung advised that the mare did not handle the prevailing track conditions and after being pressured from the 700m failed to respond as expected and proved disappointing over the concluding stages. She added that the horse had a hard run first up from a spell on 18 October and this may have had an effect on today’s performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Stewards will interview trainer B. Currie in coming days with regards to the horse’s performance.
