SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

From TTC, 6.3.10 – Race 6

Stewards questioned trainer M. Kropp regarding the performance of HOPE OF SEVEN. Trainer Kropp stated that the horse had been in work for some time, however due to wet conditions in recent weeks he had not been able to continue with his desired training program. He added that he believed HOPE OF SEVEN had been too fresh for this race and accordingly raced too hard in the early stages and refused to settle. He added that these circumstances, together with the wide barrier draw, had contributed to the horse’s poor performance. Stewards noted M. Kropp’s comments. Stewards also spoke to trainer Kropp regarding his obligation to remain on course for the required period of time after the race. Mr Kropp stated he may have left the track a few minutes early, however due to regional flooding, it was his intention to travel home as soon as possible. In the circumstances, stewards took no action, however advised him to seek the permission of stewards in similar circumstances in future.

Stewards questioned trainer J. Brown regarding the poor performance of JONDY IGGY. Trainer Brown stated that she was disappointed with the run and had expected a forward showing in light of the gelding’s last run where it had performed exceptionally well. She believed the quick back up after its run the previous week, together with the fast early pace in this race, were contributing factors in the poor performance. J. Brown added that nothing had come to light in recent days with the gelding that may have had a bearing on the performance. A post race veterinary examination of JONDY IGGY failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer Brown was reminded of her obligations regarding leaving the course prior to the prescribed time. Bearing in mind regional flooding conditions, no further action was taken by stewards.
