Race 1: SEDL AGENCIES CLASS 2 H’CAP – 1500M
1st – Grain Trader 2nd – Punto Vista 3rd – Honourdo 4th – Alinga Star
Track temperature: 17 degrees Celsius
SAM'S CROSSING (C. Priest) was tightened for room at the start between GRAIN TRADER (G. Geran) and SCENE OF THE CRIME (P. Wolfgram) which shifted in.
CHECK THE LEADER (W. Abbey) was slow to begin.
HONOURDO (J. Letherby), which was slow to begin, overraced in the early and middle stages and after racing wide from the 1000m improved to a leading position near the 700m.
SCENE OF THE CRIME overraced in the early and middle stages and shifted in near the 900m.
GRAIN TRADER shifted out abruptly near the 400m, making contact with SILENT FORCE (N. Evans), which was forced wider on the track.
ALINGA STAR (N. Yamada) laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight.
PUNTO VISTA (S. Drake) was held up for clear running for a short distance leaving the 400m.
Stewards questioned jockey P. Wolfgram in relation to the disappointing performance of SCENE OF THE CRIME. Jockey Wolfgram stated that the gelding began well and despite overacing in the early stages was able to obtain a position with cover during the middle stages of the event. Jockey Wolfgram added that the horse then travelled well until a point near the 500m and when asked to improved failed to respond to his riding. Jockey Wolfgram further advised that the horse was inclined to lay in over the concluding stages and in his opinion proved disappointing. Stewards noted the explanation.
Race 2: TTC FAMILY FUN DAY JULY 23 CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1000M
1st – Wild River Queen 2nd – Grey Mambo 3rd – Itala Prince 4th – Built Tough
Track temperature: 15 degrees Celsius

ITALA PRINCE (N. Evans), ESKERVINTH (M. O'Brien) and BUILT TOUGH (S. Drake) were all tightened for room at the start between PIONEER WAY (W. Clasohm) and WILD RIVER QUEEN (P. Wolfgram), which shifted out. ESKERVINTH and BUILT TOUGH lost ground in this incident.
ESKERVINTH and PIONEER WAY both raced wide throughout.
Leaving the 550m BUILT TOUGH improved on to the heels of ISTAAR (N. Yamada) and had to be steadied.
FRANGELA (A. Best) and ISTAAR both laid in under pressure in the home straight.
Approaching the 100m ISTAAR had difficulty obtaining clear running.
Stewards questioned trainer P. Sexton in relation to the improved performance of WILD RIVER QUEEN. Mr Sexton stated that the horse was having its first start for his stable so he was unable to clearly explain the disappointing performance of the horse last preparation. Mr Sexton did, however, advise that WILD RIVER QUEEN had worked well in preparation for tonight's event as well as performing extremely well in two recent jumpouts. Stewards noted the explanation.
Trainer T. Wolfgram was advised that THURSDAY JOY, which had bled from the off nostril, would be required to perform satisfactorily in a gallop over 1000m in the presence of a steward before being permitted to race again.
A post-race veterinary examination of MONTY ROYAL revealed the filly to be lame in the near hind fetlock. Trainer L. Richardson was advised that he must produce a veterinary clearance for MONTY ROYAL prior to its next start.
Race 3: MELBOURNE CUP BOOKINGS NOW OPEN MAIDEN H’CAP – 1000M

JUNABEE ROSE (M. Dorrington) jumped in the air at the start and lost ground.
CURRAWEE LASS (J. Letherby) was slow to begin.
PRECIOUS SHADOW (R. Hancock), which was slow to begin, raced greenly in the early stages of the event and then near the 900m was forced to ease when crowded for room between FINE TUNE (G. Geran) and VANGUARD (W. Clasohm), which shifted out.
TAT DONE WELL (J. McKinnon), which jumped away awkwardly, shifted out shortly after the start and lost ground.
PALACE SEQUAL (M. O'Brien) dwelt at the start and was then hampered by ZARALI (N. Evans), which shifted in.
CURRAWEE LASS (J. Letherby) hung out badly rounding the 800m turn and shifted extremely wide on the track. Trainer W. Baker was advised that CURRAWEE LASS must perform satisfactorily in an official barrier trial prior to its next start.
Near the 900m EUREKA STRIKE (S. Bogenhuber) brushed the running rail when being eased from the heels of VANGUARD which shifted in whilst laying in and away from SELL THE SILVER (P. Wolfgram).

1st – Fantastic Blue 2nd – Paper Weight 3rd – Musashi Of Mieko 4th – Tripitz
Track temperature: 11 degrees Celsius.
Trainer P. Nolan advised stewards that it would be the intention to have FANTASTIC BLUE (G. Geran) ridden in a forward position if circumstances permit. The horse was ridden accordingly.
RELEASED (A. Best) began awkwardly and raced wide throughout.
Approaching the 1200m RATTLE 'N' RUN (L. Cumberland) got its head in the air when being restrained.
Stewards questioned trainer M. Webb and jockey A. Best in relation to the disappointing performance of RELEASED. Both Mr Webb and A. Best were of the opinion that the tempo of the race tonight did not suit RELEASED, which usually races towards the tail of the field, and in their opinion the performance was not entirely disappointing. Stewards noted the explanation.
Stewards afforded apprentice J. Letherby, the rider of MUSASHI OF MIEKO, the opportunity to explain his riding of that gelding in the early stages of the event whereby the horse raced some distance behind the remainder of the field. Apprentice Letherby advised that it is the racing pattern of MUSASHI OF MIEKO to race at the tail of the field and given the slow tempo of the race he was not concerned as to his position in the early stages. Apprentice Letherby further advised that when the pace of the race slackened near the 1100m he was able to regain contact with the body of the field without pressuring his mount. The explanation was noted.
Race 6: SNOOZE TOOWOOMBA MAIDEN PLATE – 1500M

ISLE DE PINES was held up for clear running for a short distance approaching the 400m.
J. Kehoe, the rider of BREAKING OUT, was reminded of his obligations regarding use of the whip on horses out of contention.
