SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:
As W. Clasohm was to be overweight on HULA GISELLE (Race 1), CANADIAN JOY (Race 2) and DUKE WILLIAM (Race 3), riding changes were made as per the Stewards Summary Sheet. W. Clasohm was fined the sum of $200.
Race 1: Fitton Insurance Charity Race Day Sep 24 Class 1 H'cap – 1200m
1st – Mondiah 2nd – Night Wanderer 3rd –Sars Mario 4th – Yveline
Track temperature: 18 degrees Celsius
WHISPRIAN (P. Wolfgram) required an adjustment to be made to its saddle at the barriers, resulting in a slight delay to the start of this event.
NIGHT WANDERER (G. Geran), VICTORY SHIELD (W. Abbey) and ITALA PRINCE (N. Evans) were slow to begin.
Rounding the home turn, PROFITABUL (S. Drake) hung in badly.
For some distance after straghtening, ITALA PRINCE had difficulty obtaining a run between WHISPRIAN and YVELINE (A. Best).
Race 2: Trevor Smith McGrath Class 3 H'cap – 1100m
1st – The Jazzy Prince 2nd – Camphor 3rd – Whydidyouleaveme 4th – Zoso
Track temperature: 18 degrees Celsius
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, stewards inquired into an incident at the start where it was reported that J. Brown was dislodged from LONARO. On the evidence put forward, it was established that as the gates were released, LONARO, which had been fractious in the barriers, reared high, resulting in J. Brown being dislodged. As stewards were of the view that the horse was standing at the time the gates were released, LONARO was declared a starter and correct weight was semaphored on the Judge's placings.
Near the 600m THE JAZZY PRINCE (P. Wolfgram) shifted in and bumped BOARDIES (S. Drake).
Race 3: Mining CFMEU – Mining And Energy Division Class 4 H'cap – 1300m
1st – Convictor 2nd – Fizzy 3rd – Mallory Park 4th – Smart 'n' Crafty
Track temperature: 17 degrees Celsius.
Near the 600m, CONVICTOR (K. Yoshida) shifted out and bumped ARGENTEUM (J. Brown).
P. Wolfgram, rider of LADY LEO, explained that the mare raced comfortably behind the leader in the early stages, however from the 800m he became concerned that it was not travelling well, and from the 500m when the tempo quickened, LADY LEO failed to respond to his riding and in the home straight proved most disappointing. The explanation was noted.
Race 4: K&R Plumbing Supplies Maiden H'cap – 1300m
1st –Halo'd Be Thy Name 2nd – Retracted 3rd – Monde Bijou 4th - Catgotyourtongue
Track temperature: 17 degrees Celsius.
GOLD REEF CITY (N. Yamada) was slow to begin, and then the early stages raced ungenerously and got its head up.
ONCEASAURUS (G. Geran) was slow to begin.
Race 5: Electrical Trades Union Maiden Plate – 1000m
1st – August Bishop 2nd – Sahara Court 3rd – On Appeal 4th – Hi Hi
Track temperature: 17 degrees Celsius.
JUST JUNABEE (O. Turpin) stood flatfooted at the start and lost ground.
ON APPEAL (P. Wolfgram) and ARDI BEATSEM (G. Geran) both shifted ground and made heavy contact on jumping away.
MORGAN MISS (N. Tomizawa) was a little slow into stride, and then near the 800m had to be steadied when crowded between ON APPEAL (P. Wolfgram) and HI HI (W. Clasohm), which shifted out and away from ASHBY FLAG (J. Kehoe).
SAHARA COURT (N. Yamada) hung out throughout the race.
LETS FALL IN LOVE broke down after passing the winning post.
Race 6: XXXX Gold QTIS 3yo H'cap - 850m
1st – Tomcat 2nd – Slysera 3rd – Flammable 4th – Junabee Rose
Track temperature: 17 degrees Celsius.
FLAMMABLE (N. Tomizawa) blundered at the start and shifted out, bumping JUNABEE ROSE (O. Turpin).
Shortly after the start, TYCOON COUGAR (P. Wolfgram) shifted out, causing SILVERDO (W. Clasohm) to be steadied.
Race 7: Channel Seven Class 2 H'cap – 1625m
1st – Isataar 2nd – Dodging Eddie 3rd – Primera 4th – Punto Vista
Track temperature: 17 degrees Celsius.
TINGLES MY TOES (J. Warrington) jumped away awkwardly and shifted out abruptly, losing considerable ground.
