GENERAL
As J. Warrington and W. Clasohm were injured, riding replacements were made as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
Race 1: CFM CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1850M
1st – Without Reproach 2nd – Griffith Lad 3rd – Mayalbe 4th – Provincial
Track temperature: 36 degrees Celsius
Shortly after the start SHEZA SPUR (R. Ride) lost its near fore plate.
In the middle stages PROVINCIAL (A. Best) was caught wide without cover and after the 1300m was allowed to stride forward to eventually cross to the lead near the 900m.
After the 900m SHEZA SPUR commenced to weaken despite being ridden along, gave ground quickly, tailed off and finished a distanct last. Trainer J. Smith was advised that the mare would not be permitted to start at TAB meetings until such time as it can establish more competitive performances in the country.
Race 2: BUNDABERG RUM NYE PARTY BENCHMARK 75 H’CAP – 2000M
1st – The Clandy Man Can 2nd – Run Jake Run 3rd – Heathen Chemistry 4th – I Love Tobouggie

No racing incidents.
Race 3: MERRY CHRISTMAS TTC MEMBERS F&M MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M
1st – Astrobabe 2nd – Strategical Plan 3rd – Philocracy 4th – Stromglad
Track temperature: 28 degrees Celsius.
At the start JUDITH (N. Tomizawa) shifted out and bumped BURNIN' AWAY (A. Smith).
Shortly after the start NO HOOPS (S. Egan), which was racing keenly, got its head up when being restrained when crowded slightly between PHILOCRACY (J. Brown) and STROMGLAD (G. Geran).
Making the first turn PHILOCRACY was bumped by STROMGLAD, which shifted in.
Race 4: BRISBANE RIVERVIEW HOTEL C&G MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M
1st – Hardman Harry 2nd – Masakari 3rd – General Collins 4th – Cajun Gold
Track temperature: 28 degrees Celsius.
Consideration was given to an objection lodged by apprentice J. Brown (MASAKARI), which was placed 3rd, against GENERAL COLLINS (K. Banks) being declared the 2nd placegetter, alleging interference near the 100m. On the evidence it was established that after the 200m GENERAL COLLINS commenced to shift ground outwards and then near the 100m shifted across the running of MASAKARI, resulting in that horse being severely checked. As the Stewards were of the view that the extent of the interference suffered by MASAKARI exceeded the long neck margin between the two horses at the finish, the objection was upheld and the placings were amended accordingly.
At a subsequent inquiry K. Banks (GENERAL COLLINS) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that after the 200m she permitted her mount to shift out until a point approaching the 100m where it shifted across the running of MASAKARI, resulting in that horse having to be checked severely. K. Banks' licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings, with the term of suspension to commence at midnight on Saturday, 31 December 2011, and expire at midnight on Sunday, 8 January 2012.
On jumping MASAKARI (J. Brown) shifted in and bumped FUNHOUSE (N. Yamada).
Near the 800m HARDMAN HARRY (J. Letherby), which was racing keenly, was checked off the heels of PEEP SHOW (G. Geran).
Near the 500m FUNHOUSE momentarily shifted in and caused crowding to PEEP SHOW.
Rounding the home turn ROCKLEA RAIDER (K. Yoshida) hung out.
Race 5: NYE BLACK TIE EVENT QTIS 2YO H’CAP – 1050M
1st – Sierra Rapid 2nd – Craiglea Stellar 3rd – La Femina Express 4th – Darlington County
Track temperature: 26 degrees Celsius.
Shortly after the start HUSH TALK (K. Forrester) received slight crowding between CRAIGLEA STELLAR (A. Best) and SIERRA RAPID (N. Yamada).
Near the 500m LITTLE DAZZLER (N. Tomizawa), which was racing greenly, was bumped on the shoulder by LA FEMINA EXPRESS (J. Letherby). Shortly after this LITTLE DAZZLER then became badly unbalanced and lost its position between LA FEMINA EXPRESS and PREFECT (J. Brown). DARLINGTON COUNTY (K. Yoshida), which was following, was checked and shifted out abruptly to avoid that horse. In the circumstances no action was taken. Shortly after this LITTLE DAZZLER continued to race greenly, shifted in and caused crowding to SIERRA RAPID.
In the straight CRAIGLEA KEY (M. Hellyer) raced greenly and shifted ground on a number of occasions.
Race 6: NEIL MANSELL CONCRETE CLASS 1 H’CAP – 1000M
1st – High On Octane 2nd – Langelinie 3rd – Declare 4th – No Monica
Track temperature: 26 degrees Celsius.
SPARTANEOUS was a late scratching at 3.55 p.m. after it pulled a plate. Trainer G. Teal was advised that a veterinary certificate will have to be provided.
LEICA STORY (K. Forrester) was fractious in the mounting yard and then initially refused to parade to the barriers. After arriving at the gates LEICA STORY initially refused to be loaded and once in the stalls then reared on a number of occasions. When the gates were released LEICA STORY stood flat-footed and lost considerable ground. As the pre-race manners of LEICA STORY have been a concern in recent times, trainer R. Maund was advised that the mare would be required to perform satisfactorily in the pre-race parade and then be competitive in an official barrier trial before being permitted to start again.
DECLARE (J. Brown), which was standing awkwardly, jumped in the air at the start and lost ground.
OUTBACK LEGEND (N. Tomizawa) began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped KID CHOCOLATE (A. Erhart).
Near the 800m NO MONICA (J. Letherby) was steadied when awkwardly placed close to the heels of LANGELINIE (K. Yoshida), which shifted out slightly.
Making the turn near the 700m OUTBACK LEGEND hung out.
N. Tomizawa (OUTBACK LEGEND) explained that from the draw today, whilst the horse has shown good early speed to date, he was not confident that he would have sufficient speed to cross HIGH ON OCTANE (A. Best). For this reason he elected to sit outside that horse, however he said today the filly never settled, overraced badly and was inclined to hang out in the middle stages. He added that when placed under pressure in the straight OUTBACK LEGEND failed to respond, changed stride on a number of occasions and was most disappointing over the concluding stages. Trainer T. Sears advised Stewards that he was of the view that OUTBACK LEGEND had come to the end of its preparation and it was now his intention to send the filly for an immediate spell.
K. Yoshida (LANGELINIE) was reprimanded under AR. 137A(5)(a)(ii) for using his whip 6 times in a forehand manner prior to the 100m.
Race 7: JOHN GILBERT ELECTRICAL CLASS 3 PLATE – 1200M
1st – Fear No Other 2nd – Regal Ruben 3rd – Love Our Girls 4th – Huff And Puff
Track temperature: 23 degrees Celsius.
LATIKA (M. Hellyer), which was fractious in the stalls, then reared as the gates were released, began very awkwardly, almost dislodged its rider and as a result lost considerable ground.
ANNETTE'S PUMPKIN (A. Best) began very awkwardly, shifted in and bumped LOVE OUR GIRLS (S. Egan).
