Connections advised that PUNTERS CORNER (G. Goold) would be ridden off the pace. The horse was ridden accordingly.

On jumping, THEGREATANDTHEGOOD (N. Nishio) began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped the hind quarters of MY MATE SULLY (G. Geran).

PERFECT DAYS (M. Abe) was slow to begin.

Near the 900m PUNTERS CORNER was checked on the inside of MY MATE SULLY which, when racing keenly, got its head up and hung in away from the heels of DEEP HEAT (M. O'Brien) which had shifted across when properly clear. Whilst the check was of some significance to PUNTERS CORNER, Stewards were satisfied that the actions of jockey Geran (MY MATE SULLY) were satisfactory in endeavouring to avoid the interference occurring. In the circumstances no action was taken. In this incident, UNCLE HEAVEN (S. Drake), which was following, was also inconvenienced.

Near the 500m MY MATE SULLY, which was racing ungenerously, was shifted away from the heels of DEEP HEAT (M. O'Brien) and in doing so bumped the hind quarters of THEGREATANDTHEGOOD.

He said in his opinion NIGHT WANDERER is a horse which is better suited to a moderate tempo as it tends to be one-paced. He said in addition NIGHT WANDERER was not only up in class but up in weight as well on its previous start.
