SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:

Race 1: Neil Mansell Concrete Class 1 H'cap – 1000m
1st – Millyen 2nd – Angelina 3rd – Commendatore 4th – Scarlett Sun
Track temperature: 29 degrees Celsius
YOU'RE BLESSED (A. Smith) stumbled at the start and lost ground.
MR GREEDY (C. Maund) was steadied when COMMENDATORE (N. Yamada) shifted out slightly shortly after the start.
Near the 400m, EASE ON BY (S. Drake) was eased when crowded for room between MR PIN WA (M. O'Brien) and MR GREEDY, which shifted out slightly away from ANGELINA (A. Best).
I'M GOOD hung out throughout the race.
Race 2: WWW.thelaststride.com Class 3 Plate – 1100m
1st – Starstreamed 2nd – Fast Lover 3rd – Diamond Heist 4th – Stay Put
Track temperature: 25 degrees Celsius
Approaching the 400m, DIAMOND HEIST (R. Goltz) was checked when badly held up behind LISSOY'S LASS (M. O'Brien).
Near the 350m, CAPTAIN FUN (A. Best) was steadied when taken in slightly by STAY PUT (D. Robinson), which in turn was taken in by STARSTREAMED (B. Appo).
When asked about the disappointing performance of CAPTAIN FUN, A. Best explained that, in his opinion, the horse was better suited when being able to race up on the pace and resents racing in amongst or behind other runners. He said in tonight's event he was unable to show sufficient speed to cross and was obliged to allow LATIN AMERICAN (S. Bogenhuber) to cross into the first turn. He said after this, CAPTAIN FUN dropped the bit and never travelled, and when crowded slightly near the 400m, the horse appeared to resent this and failed to respond to his riding in the straight.
Race 3: Hello Singapore Turf Class 2 H'cap – 1300m
1st – Jack 'n' Me 2nd – Lady Oscar 3rd – Halo'd Be Thy Name 4th – Tisani Star
Track temperature: 17 degrees Celsius
As G. Geran was delayed due to transport difficulties, D. Robinson was substituted as the rider of MISS VITALITY. G. Geran's explanation was accepted.
After being boxed, MISS VITALITY got its off hind leg up on the partition in the barriers. MISS VITALITY was removed from the barriers, examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed suitable to race.
MISS VITALITY was slow to begin.
R. Ride was questioned as to why she elected to remain racing 4 wide on TISANI STAR rather than steady her mount and shift back in to a position one-out-and-one-back with cover. Apprentice Ride stated that she had been instructed by trainer K. Kemp to have the horse in the lead if possible and if not to ride TISANI STAR along in the early stages as the horse was inclined to drop the bit and not travel when racing in behind other runners. She added tonight when BACH (A. Best) was racing keen to her inside she was hopeful that horse might have crossed, which would have allowed her to move in with that horse and race outside the lead. Trainer K. Kemp confirmed the instructions given and stated that TISANI STAR is a horse which was reluctant to race when positioned in behind other horses.
Race 4: Sky Racing Maiden Plate – 1300m
1st – Sell The Silver 2nd – Reigning Magic 3rd – Johanne's Diamond 4th – No More Doubts
Track temperature: 12 degrees Celsius
SWISHING (S. Drake) raced keenly in the early and middle stages of the race.
When questioned regarding the improved performance of the winner, SELL THE SILVER, trainer B. Currie stated that following its disappointing performance at Toowoomba on 5 May, it became apparent that the horse had an abscess in its near side hind pastern. Mr Currie was subsequently fined the sum of $200 for failing to report this condition to the stewards. AR140 (c)
A post race veterinary examination of SWISHING revealed the horse to have an abnormal heart beat. Connections were advised that veterinary clearance, including the results of an ECG, would be required prior to the horse's next race start.
Race 5: Tattsbet Benchmark 85 H'cap – 1200m
1st – Somnambulist 2nd – Primed 3rd – Convictor 4th – Fifth Leg
Track temperature: 12 degrees Celsius
SOMNABULIST (N. Tomizawa) shifted out at the start and bumped PRIMED (M. O'Brien).
In the early and middle stages, ROCKIN APPEAL (J. Brown) raced keenly.
K. Gates, rider of FIFTH LEG, was reprimanded for shifting in near the 900m when not properly clear of SOMNAMBULIST, resulting in it being eased.
Leaving the 700m, PRIMED and CONVICTOR (K. Yoshida) bumped on a number of occasions.
Near the 400m, ROCKIN APPEAL (J. Brown), which was weakening, was severely checked when crowded for room by FIFTH LEG, which got its head on the side and hung in away from SOMNABULIST, which itself shifted in slightly.
A post race veterinary examination of ROCKIN APPEAL, failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
Race 6: Silver Sovereign QTIS 2-year-old H'cap – 1200m
1st – Obliviate 2nd – Bullet One 3rd – Heartfelt Quest 4th – Darlington
Track temperature: 12 degrees Celsius
BULLET ONE (G. Geran) raced keenly in the early and middle stages.
Near the 500m C. Maund, ride of HEARTFELT, attempted to take a narrow run to the inside of SIERRA RAPID (B. Richardson) and brushed the fence and became unbalanced.
A post race veterinary examination of NATURAL MIST, which tailed off, revealed the horse to have an unusual action. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance would be required for NATURAL MIST prior to its next race start.
Following the event, trainer D. Gollan advised that NATURAL MIST may have a problem in its stifle and did not stretch out following the event. Mr Gollan undertook to have the horse examined by his veterinary surgeon and would report the results to stewards and would advise stewards of its post race condition.
Race 7: 4GR AM Class 3 Plate – 2000m
1st – Rock Hit 2nd – Grab The Loot 3rd – Rocket Boots 4th – Famous Fortune
Track temperature: 12 degrees Celsius
Trainer P. Moody was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for ROCK HIT by the prescribed time.
Turning out of the straight on the first occasion, the saddle on BOYNG (M. O'Brien) shifted forward, placing her at a distinct disadvantage for the remainder of the race.
Rounding the home turn, ROCK HIT got on the wrong leg, commenced to shift out and bumped the shoulder of ROCKET BOOTS (N. Evans), resulting in ROCKET BOOTS being carried wider and becoming momentarily unbalanced. L. Nolan, rider of ROCK HIT, advised that it was the filly's first time going in a clockwise direction and got on its wrong leg half way around the turn, resulting in it shifting ground the way it did.
GENERAL
Stewards inquired into the conduct of apprentice J. Brown following Race 5. Evidence was taken from apprentice J. Brown in the presence of her master Ms T Wolfgram. Apprentice J. Browne pleaded guilty to a charge under AR175(q), in that following Race 5, in the vicinity of the mounting yard and within earshot of members of the public, she used expletives directed towards trainer B. Currie, and further passing through the weighing room she threw her saddle against the wall. Further whilst in the weighing room she directed expletives towards apprentice K. Gates and Chairman of Stewards of the meeting, Mr M. Knibbs. Apprentice Brown's licence to ride in races was suspended for 2 months, of which 1 month be wholly suspended for a period of 12 months on the condition that she not be found guilty of any conduct or behavioural related rule.
