From Dalby, 3.11.12 – Race 5

Jockey L. Appo was fined $200 for using his whip in the forehand more than 5 times prior to the 100m and in consecutive strides.

Race 1: Roughiesonly.com.au QTIS 3yo Maiden H'cap – 1050m
1st – Prefect 2nd – Spent 3rd – Muriqui 4th – Stamp Of Authority

Track temperature: 24 degrees Celsius

GENERAL KINGSMAN (C. Maund) began awkwardly.

MISS MEGA HERZ (N. Nishio) raced keenly from the 800m, and approaching the 600m was forced to ease to avoid the heels of PREFECT (L. Morrison).

MURIQUI (M. O'Brien) laid out rounding the home turn.




Race 2: Computer Troubleshooters Toowooba West Class 2 H'cap – 1050m
1st – Taimzuptina 2nd – Skytana 3rd – Embellish 4th – Give It A Crac

Track temperature: 23 degrees Celsius

EMBELLISH (C. Maund) and CARRY LARRY'S ROSE (G. Goold) were hampered at the start by FLASH APACHE (W. O'Connell), which began awkwardly and shifted in.

BRYNNE (K. Yoshida) began awkwardly.

Near the 800m, FLASH APACHE was tightened for room and was forced to steady when racing between GIVE IT A CRAC (S. Bogenhuber) and SKYTANA (M. O'Brien), which was taken in by TAIMZUPTINA (A. Fancourt), which shifted in when not completely clear. Apprentice A. Fancourt, rider of TAIMZUPTINA, was advised to exercise more care. EMBELLISH (C. Maund), which was following, was forced to steady as a result of this incident.


Race 3: XXXX Gold F&M Maiden Plate – 1200m
1st – Rhiatenn Road 2nd – Town Dazzler 3rd – Secrets To Lose 4th – Princess Cinders

Track temperature: 20 degrees Celsius

KAHAANI (R. Goltz) was slow to begin.

TOWN DAZZLER (N. Nishio) and TUBE RIDE (M. Abe) bumped on a number of occasions between the 700m and 500m.

MASSIE BELLE (T. Serjeant) hung out for the duration of the event. Trainer M. Hemming's representative was advised that a warning would be placed on the filly regarding its racing manners.


Race 4: Neil Mansell Group CG&E &E Maiden Plate – 1200m
1st – Supreme Show 2nd – Mossglow 3rd – Bundu Boy 4th – Busker Blues

Track temperature: 19 degrees Celsius

BUNDU BOY (R. Goltz), MOSSGLOW (N. Tomizawa), BUSKER BLUES (S. Bogenhuber) and RENNAM (M. Abe) were all tightened for room at the start between GYPSY JAZZ (N. Nishio) and BITUMINOUS (C. Maund), which jumped outwards at the start. In this incident, BUSKER BLUES and RENNAM lost ground.

Approaching the 400m, BUSKER BLUES improved onto the heels of MOSSGLOW and was forced to steady and shift out to obtain clear running.

Jockey C. Maund reported that BITUMINOUS hung out from the 1000m.


Race 5: PSP Video Class 1 H'cap – 1200m
1st – Fine Tune 2nd – Liadain 3rd – Snow's A Lady 4th - Affirmative

Track temperature: 18 degrees Celsius

Jockey W. O'Connell was examined by the ambulance officers after riding in Race 2 and stood down from his engagement on UNANIMOUS DECISION. I. Coombes was substituted as the rider of UNANIMOUS DECISON.

CRAFTY'S LAST (B. Appo) began awkwardly.

UNANIMOUS DECISION (I. Coombes) was slow to begin.

Near the 900m, LIADAIN (M. O'Brien) was steadied to avoid the heels of SNOW'S A LADY (N. Nishio), which shifted in. N. Nishio, rider of SNOW'S A LADY, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Leaving the 200m, LIADAIN improved on to the heels of the tiring AFFIRMATIVE and was forced to shift in to obtain clear running. A short distance later, AFFIRMATIVE shifted in and bumped LIADAIN.

This race was run in heavy rain.


Race 6: Trackside Photography Benchmark 75 H'cap – 1625m
1st – Spinada 2nd – Playsova 3rd – Stigori 4th – All In Time

Track temperature: 17 degrees Celsius

Stewards accepted the explanation from trainer S. Tregea for the late declaration of rider for PLAYSOVA.

GRIFFITH LAD (J. Johnson) overraced in the early and middle stages.

Stewards questioned apprentice J. Johnson and trainer D. Brusnahan regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of GRIFFITH LAD. Apprentice J. Johnson advised stewards that after beginning well, GRIFFITH LAD raced keenly in the early and middle stages, however did travel comfortably during this time. She added that when asked to improve into the race from the 700m, the gelding failed to respond to her riding as well as she had expected, and in her opinion proved disappointing in the run to the finish. Trainer D. Brusnahan also expressed his disappointment with the performance of GRIFFITH LAD, and advised that he will now review its current preparation, which may include giving the horse a short let up from racing. A post race veterinary examination of GRIFFITH LAD failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.






Race 7: K&R Plumbing Supplies Benchmark 80 H'cap – 1300m
1st – Tisani Boy 2nd – Starstreamed 3rd – Typhoon Red 4th – Kneel And Raise

Track temperature: 16 degrees Celsius

N. Tomizawa reported that TYPHOON RED had a tendency to hang out for the majority of the race.
