Race 1: WEETWOOD RACE DAY 13TH APRIL MAIDEN H'CAP – 1300M

Track temperature – 32 degrees Celsius

D. Robinson (DAME DELLA) was reprimanded for initially weighing out without his body protector. Stewards took into account the explanation tendered by jockey Robinson and the fact that when he reweighed he was able to make the correct weight.

DAWN BOY (A. Merritt) stood flat-footed and lost considerable ground at the start and then was slow to muster speed in the early stages.

N. Tomizawa (GRAND SUITE) was reprimanded for using the whip in a forehand manner more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

Trainer N. Hocking (DAWN BOY) explained that the horse has only had two previous starts for him, one of which was on the cushion surface. He said DAWN BOY is a horse which has a history of being slow to begin and again tonight was consistent with its usual pattern at the start. He said the horse has been working well, however he is of the view that DAWN BOY will appreciate being stepped up further in distance in its races, which is now his intention. He said should the horse continue to show a reluctance to race in the early stages over increased distance, he would give consideration to its immediate racing future.

Race 2: WEETWOOD CALCUTTA 10TH APRIL CLASS 2 H'CAP – 1300M

Track temperature – 32 degrees Celsius

HOME AND HOSED (S. Lanigan) was slow to begin.

Race 3: JOY COLLINS 80TH BIRTHDAY CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1050M

Track temperature – 29 degrees Celsius

Trainer K. Waller was fined $100 for failing to declare K. Yoshida as the rider of RED WARNING by the prescribed time.

KEEP YOUR HAT ON (N. Evans) began awkwardly with its head up.

GET ‘EM GOIN’ (J. Warrington), which was reluctant to load, was then slow to begin.

ESTHER CAROLINE (N. Tomizawa) dipped at the start.

Near the 800m RED WARNING (K. Yoshida) was tightened, and MOSSGLOW (L. Tarrant) awkwardly placed, inside the heels of ESTHER CAROLINE, which shifted in when not properly clear.

For some distance after the 600m RED WARNING and MOSSGLOW again bumped on a number of occasions due mainly to MOSSGLOW being awkwardly placed inside the heels of ESTHER CAROLINE.

In the middle stages KEEP YOUR HAT ON hung in badly.

Rounding the home turn LAREDO (D. Robinson) hung out and made heavy contact with ESTHER CAROLINE.

In the straight GET ‘EM GOIN’ hung in badly.

Race 4: WWW.THELASTSTRIDE.COM MAIDEN PLATE – 1625M

Track temperature – 26 degrees Celsius

On jumping WICKED FRAAR (C. Jokic) was badly unbalanced when bumped heavily from the inside by JUST ONE KAY (N. Tomizawa).

WICKED FRAAR raced keenly in the early and middle stages.

Near the 200m and again near the 100m WICKED FRAAR shifted in and bumped COURTING GRACE (S. Bogenhuber).

Race 5: WEETWOOD BARRIER DRAW 10TH APRIL QTIS 3YO H'CAP – 850M

Track temperature – 25 degrees Celsius

Correct weight was delayed to afford L. Morrison, the rider of 2nd placegetter ROBERT’S COMMAND, the opportunity of viewing the Stewards’ patrol footage to ascertain whether she had grounds to lodge an objection against the winner EVANGELIST (D. Robinson) in relation to interference near the 700m. After viewing the video, jockey Morrison declined to lodge an objection and correct weight was declared on the Judge’s placings. At a subsequent inquiry D. Robinson, the rider of EVANGELIST, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that after the 800m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of ROBERT’S COMMAND, resulting in that horse being crowded for some distance and eventually having to be checked. Jockey Robinson’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings, to commence at midnight on Monday, 1 April, and expire at midnight on Friday, 12 April 2013.

ROBERT’S COMMAND (L. Morrison) dipped at the start, shifted in and bumped CASTLES SAKURA (K. Yoshida).

MYSTIC MEDUSA (W. O'Connell) was slow to begin.

For some distance after the 700m CASTLES SAKURA hung in very badly and then rounding the home turn continued to hang in and in the straight when placed under pressure was difficult to ride out.

Race 6: NEIL MANSELL TRANSPORT BENCHMARK 75 H'CAP – 1200M

Track temperature – 25 degrees Celsius

Near the 1100m TAIMZUPTINA (K. Yoshida) was inconvenienced when STOP LYING (N. Tomizawa) shifted in when not properly clear.

Approaching the first turn near the 900m TICTACS (C. Jokic) became badly unbalanced when racing tight inside of STOP LYING.

Apprentice C. Jokic (TICTACS) said in her opinion the horse raced extremely keenly and although she was intent on allowing STOP LYING to cross, she was unable to do so in the early stages because of the keen manner in which TICTACS was racing. She said as a result of the manner in which it raced in the first half of the race, TICTACS failed to respond and over the concluding stages weakened badly. Trainer S. Jokic said he was of the view that TICTACS, which was having its first start on the cushion track, did not appreciate the cushion track conditions and it was now his intention to have blood samples taken from the horse to ascertain whether there was any onset of a virus and may intend on giving the horse a short let-up. A post-race veterinary examination of TICTACS (C. Jokic) revealed no abnormalities. Mr Jokic undertook to report to Stewards as soon as practical should anything obvious become apparent.

Race 7: CHANNEL 7 CLASS 3 PLATE – 1625M

Track temperature – 22 degrees Celsius

MAGINNIS MAGEE (T. Jeffries) was slow to begin.
