Race 1: Bank Of Queensland – Agricultural Division Class 1 H'cap – 1300m

Track temperature – 18 degrees Celsius

On jumping, ESTEVEZ (S. Bogenhuber) was bumped by MOSSGLOW (L. Tarrant).

When challenged in the lead in the early and middle stages, ESTEVEZ (S. Bogenhuber) raced very keenly.

K. Yoshida explained that FLAGFLAMENCO was crossed in the early stages and travelled with cover in the early and middle stages. He said it did appear to resent racing between horses and from the 600m when he endeavoured to ride it along it dropped the bit, lost ground quickly and he became concerned there may be something amiss, and for this reason in the straight he eased the horse down. A post race veterinary examination of FLAGFLAMENCO failed to reveal any significant abnormalities other than its heart rate was lower than normal. Trainer R. Hawkswell was at a loss to explain the performance of the mare. He said he would discuss the mare’s plans with the connections, however his early indication would be that he would not continue with the horse’s current preparation. The performance was considered unsatisfactory and the mare would be required to perform satisfactorily in an official trial before being permitted to race again.
Race 2: Brookstead Farming / AJ & KT Naumann Electrical BM75 H'cap - 1200

Track temperature – 17 degrees Celsius

ARCTIC COMMAND (A. Best) and STARSTREAMED (R. Goltz) were slow to begin.

Approaching the 900m, STARSTREAMED (R. Goltz) was steadied when crowded for room inside HUSSMINDA (L. Cheshire), which was taken in slightly by TOUGH TAIMZ (L. Tarrant).

On straightening, CAPPIN JACK (S. Payne) was badly held up when disappointed for a run between SAVAGE (M. O'Brien) and DULBYDILLA (N. Nishio).

R. Goltz reported that on straightening the saddle on STARSTREAMED shifted back significantly, resulting in him being disadvantaged in riding the horse out.

Trainer J. Thomas reported that DULBYDILLA lost its near fore plate during running.

Race 3: Brookstead Hotel Class 2 H'cap – 1000m

Track temperature – 16 degrees Celsius

Near the 500m, SCARLET SUN (S. Lanigan) hung onto the heels of WENTING (K. Yoshida).

JUST A ROCKSTAR (A. Best) hung out around the turn.

Race 4: Brown & Hurley Maiden Plate – 1000m

Track temperature – 15 degrees Celsius

On jumping, JUST A PERLA (M. McKenzie) and EVERYWHERE (N. Nishio) bumped heavily and then were crowded for room when PEZENAS (N. Tomizawa) shifted in abruptly.

GOLD DEAL (R. Goltz) was slow to begin.

Near the 400m, PATTIE’S DRAGON (M. O'Brien) raced tight inside PEZENAS, which hung in away from TIGER TALES (S. Bogenhuber). PEZENAS then hung in in the straight.

FORCED SALUTE (K. Yoshida) hung out rounding the home turn.

S. Payne, rider of HEY MURRI, was reprimanded for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

Race 5: LGL Commodities 2yo Maiden Plate – 850m

Track temperature –15 degrees Celsius

PRETTY PARALLEL (A. Best) began very awkwardly and lost ground.

TISANI TOMSO (N. Tomizawa) raced greenly in the home straight and shifted ground on a number of occasions.

Race 6: Vanderfield Machinery QTIS 3yo BM65 H'cap – 1625m

Track temperature – 15 degrees Celsius

As D. Robinson was ill, R. Goltz was substituted as the rider of PAPA GEE.

When trapped wide in the early and middle stages, S. Bogenhuber elected to allow QUICKANDTHEDEAD to stride forward to the lead.

K. Yoshida, rider of FRENCH COMMAND, was reprimanded for using his whip more than 5 times prior to the 100m.

Race 7: Raff Family Class 3 H'cap – 1625m

Track temperature – 15 degrees Celsius

HI HI (B. Newport) was slow to begin.
