Race 1: City Pro Computers Class 1 H'cap – 1100m

Track temperature – 19 degrees Celsius

The start of this race was delayed when MISS TIPPI proved difficult to load. Whilst this was occurring, THE ROBBER (R. Ride) became very fractious in the gates, turned around and became cast for some considerable time. When being released, THE ROBBER broke through the gates and returned to the enclosure riderless. Acting on veterinary advice, THE ROBBER was declared a late scratching at 4.55 pm.

All monies invested on The Robber were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable.

1 cent in the dollar for the Win #3
2 cents in the dollar for place of winner #3
6 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #1
5 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #4

Trainer K. Waller was advised that a warning would be placed against MISS TIPPI for being difficult to load. Due to the circumstances, trainer K. Dowling was advised that a warning would be placed on THE ROBBER. As a result of these occurrences, the start of this race went approximately 10 minutes last.

Approaching the first turn, KEEP A LID ON IT (N. Nishio) and MISS TIPPI (B. Richardson) were crowded for room between MOUNT MORGAN (L. Tarrant), which shifted out slightly, and SAYORI (A. Taylor), which shifted in.

BAM’S BOY (R. Jamieson) shifted ground in the straight on a number of occasions, bumping with TIGER TALES (S. Bogenhuber). R. Jamieson, rider of BAMS’S BOY, was severely reprimanded.

Race 2: Veetone Entertainment Class 6 Plate – 1300m

Track temperature –16 degrees Celsius

DULBYDILLA (N. Nishio) began very awkwardly, resulting in its rider losing his left stirrup iron. Apprentice Nishio did not regain the use of this iron until near the 400m.

Near the 1000m, CAPPIN JACK (R. Ride) and STIGORI (S. Bogenhuber) were crowded for room inside DULBYDILLA when its rider was having difficulty controlling that horse without the use of his left stirrup iron.

When questioned, R. Jamieson, rider of LOVE OUR GIRLS, stated she was advised that the horse is usually a little slow to begin and that she should have the horse ridden midfield with cover if possible. She said LOVE OUR GIRLS began well tonight and when attempting to restrain the horse to follow instructions, the gelding proved far too strong for her and as a result was unable to get LOVE OUR GIRLS back in with cover. Miss Jamieson added that in the middle stages both CAPPIN JACK and MAKER’S MARQUE (A. Taylor) were racing to her inside and she was unable to shift either of those horses in, resulting in LOVE OUR GIRLS racing extremely wide throughout without cover. She said whilst racing keenly, LOVE OUR GIRLS was also inclined to lay out. R. Jamieson added that given the manner in which her mount raced and the ground she covered, she was of the view that whilst it was not one of her better riders, she was a victim of circumstances in the early and middle stages.

Race 3: Event Illusions Class 2 H'cap – 1625m

Track temperature – 13 degrees Celsius

UNTOWARD (L. Cheshire) was crowded on jumping away when LOFTY’S MATE (L. Tarrant) shifted in.

In the early stages, NIGHT WANDERER (R. Jamieson) got its head up on a number of occasions.

Near the 1400m, due mainly to the pace, SCOTCH ROCKET (A. Taylor) began to race very keenly on the heels of NIGHT WANDERER and had to be checked, and when doing so shifted out abruptly, resulting in LOFTY’S MATE being severely crowded and checked.

When caught wide in the early stages without cover, SCOTCH ROCKET, when racing keenly, was then allowed to stride forward and cross to the lead near the 800m.

For a considerable distance after the 500m, HI HI (K. Yoshida) was badly held up and did not obtain clear running until near the 200m.

Shortly after straightening, TELESIUS (M. O'Brien) was disappointed for a run between LOFTY’S MATE and UNTOWARD, and for this reason was shifted in in an endeavour to find clear running.
In the straight whilst weakening, NIGHT WANDERER hung in badly.

Passing the 100m, LOFTY’S MATE and TOWN DAZZLER (N. Tomizawa) came together when taken in slightly by UNTOWARD, which was hanging.

Race 4: WWW.Confidentialdocs.com.au QTIS 3yo H'cap

Track temperature – 12 degrees Celsius

Consideration was given to a protest lodged by N. Tomizawa, rider of PURE SHORES, which finished 2nd, against LOTTO HILL (L. Tarrant) being declared the winner, alleging interference inside the 200m. On the evidence it was established that LOTTO HILL shifted ground gradually in the straight and approaching the 100m made slight contact with PURE SHORES before being straightened by its rider. Whilst PURE SHORES was inconvenienced slightly by being carried wider in the straight, stewards were not comfortably satisfied that the extent of the interference suffered to PURE SHORES exceeded the neck margin between the 2 horses at the finish and therefore dismissed the objection.

Race 5: Robert Oatley Vineyards Class 4 H'cap – 1000m

Track temperature – 11 degrees Celsius

UNO JOKER (S. Bogenhuber) bounded at the start and lost ground.

WINDS OF FIRE (A. Taylor) was slow to begin.

On straightening, BLOODED (R. Jamieson) was shifted across the heels of TOMCAT (M. O'Brien) to improve.

Race 6: Tooheys 5 Seeds Maiden Plate – 1200m

Track temperature – 11 degrees Celsius

Trainer R. Hilton was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider for BARE FEET by the prescribed time.

On jumping, LEPRECHAUN LAD (L. Tarrant) was bumped heavily by ZANTARO (M. Speers), which shifted out.

Approaching the first turn, LEPRECHAUN LAD, which was racing very keenly, was steadied to avoid the heels of LILLY DE BUSH (B. Richardson), and when doing so got its head up and shifted out abruptly.

For some distance after the 400m, TUBE RIDE (M. O'Brien) was held up when attempting to take a narrow run inside MY SWEET ONE (A. Taylor).

DAILY PLANET (R. Jamieson) was held up rounding the home turn.

Race 7: 102.7 FM Maiden H'cap – 1625m

Track temperature – degrees Celsius

T. Jeffries, rider of INSOLENT, was reprimanded for shifting in near the 1500m, resulting in DARYL’S RUN (S. Bogenhuber) and KING JULIAN (A. Taylor) being crowded for room.

A. Merritt, rider of RENNAM, was reprimanded for shifting in near the 1200m, bumping heavily with GRAND MARINIER (N. Tomizawa).
