WARWICK TURF CLUB STEWARDS REPORT SAT. 29.06.02

STEWARDS PANEL: D. Wann (Chairman), C. Reibelt & R. Hitchener (Cadet)

WEATHER – FINE TRACK – GOOD RAIL – TRUE

GENERAL:

As apprentice A. Ware was indisposed for the entire meeting the jockey alterations were:
Race 4 Yombe Apprentice M. Spriggs
Race 6 Emma Ready Apprentice M. Spriggs

RACE 1: WARWICK FURNITURE AND BEDDING MAIDEN H'CAP – 800m

The declaration of correct weight was delayed to inquire into an alleged malfunction of the starting stalls. After hearing evidence from the starter and all jockeys involved in the event it was resolved that the starting stalls had malfunctioned and released before the starter could activate the starting mechanism. All horses in the event were not inconvenienced with the exception of MY BLUE JAE, which was riderless. MY BLUE JAE was therefore declared a non-runner with deductions of 12 cents in the win and 11 cents in the place.

Approaching the 200m, GROOVER shifted in away from CROWN DELPHIN which was racing ungenerously and hanging in.

GROOVER continued to race ungenerously down the straight brushing the running rail at the 50 meters.

KING FRIENDLY shifted in down the straight.

JESTERANA shifted out down the straight.

RACE 2: WARWICK FURNITURE AND BEDDING MAIDEN H'CAP – 800m

GASHEDA jumped awkwardly and out coming into minor contact with FOREIGN TOUCH.

MANITOBA MUSIC jumped awkwardly and was then slow into stride.

GASHEDA was included to hang in from the 500 meters to the straight.

ROGUE PUPPY hung out extremely wide around the home turn forcing FOREIGN TOUCH very wide. Subsequently ROGUE PUPPY was ordered to pass an official barrier trial prior to next start.

At the 200 meters MCGOO which was inclined to lay in was forced to ease off the heals of IL MONDO which was shifting out.

RACE 3: WARWICK ROTARY SUNRISE CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1200m

At the start CAWDOR WARRIOR jumped in, ROYAL MEATH jumped out resulting in tightening to MISS CANTHRILL.

Jockey P. Spry was issued with a reprimand for allowing his mount to shift in at the 600 meters resulting in PULL MY STRING easing.

Jockey L. Karklis was cautioned when shifting out abruptly resulting in minor inconvenience to PICASSO.

CAWDOR WARRIOR shifted in and brushed NOLA’S DREAM inside the final 50 meters.
RACE 4: WESTSIDE FIVE STAR SUPERMARKET OPEN H'CAP – 1200m

At the start BLUE ON GREEN jumped in forcing YOMBE inwards resulting in KIMBERLEY’S HOPE easing.

When attempting a run at the 150 meters mark BLUE ON GREEN shifted out coming into slight contact with PITY OF LOVE.

An inquiry was opened into the interference suffered by RIVER AFFAIR and KIMBERLEY’S HOPE. After hearing initial evidence from Apprentice Z. Landry, L. Karklis, P. Spry and A. Merritt the inquiry was adjourned to a date to be fixed to enable jockey L. Roberts to be present.


RACE 5: COUNCIL EMPLOYEES MAIDEN H'CAP – 1500m

YAHBINI WAY hung out form the 500 meters to the 250 meters.

COME ON CLYDE was held up for running from the 450 meters to the 300 meters.

At the 150 meters DANCECITI eased momentarily when COME ON CLYDE shifted out to obtain clear running.


RACE 6: MAYORAL CLASS 3 H’CAP – 1500m

BACK TO SCRATCH and HOW FRAAR were slow to begin.

Jockey J. Baker was cautioned for shifting out abruptly across HOW FRAAR at the 125 meters.
