WESTERN PICNIC RACE CLUB STEWARDS REPORT SATURDAY 6/4/02
STEWARDS PANEL: CJ Waters (Chairman)
WEATHER – Fine . TRACK: Fast RAIL – True
RACE 1: Open Trophy Race – 800 metres
ANAHEIM was slow into stride. CIFIC returned to scale lame in the off side front tendon region.
RACE 2: Maiden Handicap – 1000 metres
TIERCEMAN was slow into stride.
RACE 3: Class “D’ Handicap – 1000 metres
SWEET DRIVE was very fractious prior to the start.
RACE 4:.Restricted Trophy Race - Div 1 – 1000 metres
Both STAFINDALE and TIME FLIES were fractious in the saddling enclosure prior to the event.
RACE 5: Restricted Trophy Race – Div 2 – 1000 metres.
NINI NIKI NANA was a late scratching from the race by order of the stewards after the mare reared high in the air in the saddling enclosure and struck it’s rider, Mr P Verhoeven in the face. On examination by the Ambulance Officer on course, Mr Verhoeven was stood down from riding in the race. As there was no other suitable rider available, the horse was declared a Late Scratching. STARLOW was slow into stride.
RACE 6: Open Trophy Race – 1200 metres
Rider Mr P Verhoeven was examined by the Ambulance Officer and declared fit ot ride. No racing incidents.
RACE 7: Class “D” Handicap – 1200 metres
WILLY TOLD was a late scratching from the event when the horse took charge of it’s rider and galloped a circuit of the course.
RACE 8: Open Trophy Race – 1600 metres
No racing incidents.
RACE 9: Jumbo Open Trophy Race – 800 metres
WILLY TOLD was examined by the Club Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race. C’MON DAD proved difficult to get to the starting point delaying the start of the race.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED. – No Bookmakers at this meeting.
