AVOID THE COST (W.Doyle) stood flat-footed and as a result lost ground as the start was affected.

NAVILLUS PICALL (S. Galvin) failed to handle the dirt track conditions.

Prior to the declaration of correct weight Jockey C. Dixon, the rider of fourth placed RAPT IN RHYTHM, lodged an objection against GOLDEN PORTRAIT (B. Richardson) being declared the winner on the grounds of interference near the 100m. After hearing evidence from both riders and trainers and viewing the patrol footage, Stewards noted that GOLDEN PORTRAIT had a tendency to shift in under pressure in the home straight and at the same time GATO (C. Gilby) was inclined to hang out causing RAPT IN RHYTHM to be momentarily checked when tightened for room. However, bearing in mind the margins between first and fourth Stewards could not be satisfied that the interference prevented RAPT IN RHYTHM finishing ahead of GOLDEN PORTRAIT and subsequently dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the numbers semaphored by the judge. Jockey B. Richardson was reprimanded and reminded of her obligations to keep her mount straight.
