Race 1: GEORGE BOURNE ASSOCIATES & BRODIE AGENCIES MAIDEN HANDICAP 800m:
1ST-- IT’S COMPLICATED 2nd -- SPECK OF GOLD 3rd – TOP PAL 4th-- LAST CAN
LAST CAN (S. Galvin) reared in the barriers prior to the start and dislodged jockey S. Galvin. LAST CAN was sub sequentially removed from the barriers and a veterinary inspection showed no abnormalities and was cleared to race. Jockey S. Galvin was also cleared to ride by attending ambulance officials. LAST CAN attempted to rear in the barriers as the gates were opened which caused the horse to be slow away. Trainer G. Browne was advised that a barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards will need to be passed prior to the gelding’s next start.
SEDGEFORD PRINCE (J. Rudd) showed no early speed and raced ungenerously throughout.
DASHING DUB (T. Brummell) traveled wide in the middle and closing stages of the event.
Race 2: ELDERS RURAL SERVICES & BARCALDINE DOWNS MERINO STUD CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1000m:
1ST -- CICERAO MOUNTAIN 2nd – RAVEN RAIDER 3rd – RIVERS END 4TH -- KING KARENA
FILLE DE LA VILLE was a late scratching at 8:10am as trainer N. Seymour had transport difficulties and was unable to attend the race meeting.
CICERAO MOUNTAIN (R. Faehr) was slow into stride and traveled wide in the middle and late stages of the race.
CLASSIC CADILLAC (R. Hancock) traveled wide for the majority of the event.
NOVARUPTA (S. Galvin) hung out down the home straight and had to be corrected.
CICERAO MOUNTAIN (R. Faehr) lay in down the straight.
RECAP’S CHOICE (D. Rewald) was eased at the 200m as jockey D. Rewald felt the horse was sore and awkward in her action. A veterinary inspection upon the mare cooling down showed no abnormalities.
Race 3: NORTH GREGORY HOTEL WEIGHR FOR AGE 1000m:
1st –EMILA 2nd – SURPASSER 3RD – GESINK 4th – THREE MONKEYS
REIGNING TO WIN (R. Hancock) raced ungenerously and wide throughout to avoid the dusty track conditions.
MANNERS PLEASE (T. Chambers) traveled wide in the middle and late stages of the event.
Race 4: NORMAN (NORM) ELLIOTT MEMORIAL CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1200m:
1st – RETRIAL 1ST – POMATINI 3RD -- EQUALES 4th – CARDS’N’OWLS
WAYNE (T. Brummell) and CARDS’N’OWLS (R. Mules) were both slow away.
MARUMUNGEE (S. Galvin) traveled wide for the majority of the event.
Race 5: RON MURPHY MEMORIAL CLASS 6 HANDICAP 1200m:
1ST- CRAIGLEA RAWIE 2ND- NO OTHER WAY 3RD- WHETSTONE 4TH- SEAGAL
TALLICA was a late scratching at 8:10am as trainer N. Seymour had transport difficulties and was unable to attend the race meeting.
NO OTHER WAY (D. Rewald) was slow into stride and traveled wide from the 400m.
CRAIGLEA RAWIE (R. Hancock) traveled wide from the 250m.
Stewards noted WHETSTONE (A. Spradau) was agitated in the mounting yard and a veterinary inspection of the gelding revealed a slightly elevated heart rate and seemed to be slightly dehydrated.
RACE 6: LANDSBOROUGH SANTA / STOP LYING BM70 HANDICAP 1400m:
1ST-- LIGHT WARRIOR 2ND -- TATYOON 3RD-- STARBURST 4TH-- ROCKBEL
DAAD’S OVERTIME (S. Egan) hit the gate on the way out of the enclosure and underwent a veterinary inspection at the barriers which cleared the gelding to start.
TATYOON (R. Faehr) was slow away.
LIGHT WARRIOR (R. Hancock) shifted out down the home straight and had to be corrected.
TATYOON (R. Faehr) was slightly impeded by LIGHT WARRIOR’S shift and had to change course to gain clear running.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
