The start of this event was delayed 10 minutes awaiting a replacement ambulance after the original vehicle was called away to attend an emergency matter.

RACE 3: OPEN HDCP 1000 Metres
Stewards accepted the explanation from Trainer G Richardson regarding the late declaration of a rider for CANDID.
Trainer L Anderson was reprimanded for presenting GLENTHORN AVENUE late to the mounting yard.
CANDID – Improved onto heels of tiring runners approaching 100 metres, shifted out abruptly resulting in rider becoming unbalanced. App R Johnston-Bell was reprimanded for use of whip in forehand manner in successive strides prior to 100 metres.
RACE 4: CLASS B HDCP 850 Metres
Stewards delayed declaration of correct weight to view the DVD race replay to determine if BUTTER’N’DASH, which reared and lost significant ground at the start, was afforded a fair start. After taking evidence from starter Mr C Ryan and rider J Missen, stewards found BUTTER’N’DASH, which had been fractious in the gates and was being assisted by a barrier attendant, reared up of its own accord as the start was effected. The mare was therefore declared a starter, and trainer N Boyd was advised BUTTER‘N’DASH would require a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start.
WARLOCK – hung out making turn at the 600 metres and lost ground. Trainer M Park was advised a warning would be issued.
LUNA AZZURA – when questioned regarding below market performance App N Ogura stated the mare was unable to hold a forward position and was reluctant to stretch out after receiving kickback from other runners from the 600 metres onwards.
WAVERLEY HEIGHTS – crowded between runners near 700 metres. Rider reported had tendency to lay in at various stages from the 600 metres onwards.
RACE 5: BENCHMARK 65 CUP 1465 Metres
Stewards delayed declaration of correct weight to determine the reason why AASHIQ (App S Eilbeck) which was drawn in barrier 8 and BEAUTIFUL BARB (W O’Connell) drawn in barrier 9, saw AASHIQ begin from barrier 9 and BEAUTIFUL BARB from barrier 8. After taking evidence from starter Mr C Ryan and the riders of both runners, App Eilbeck and jockey W O’Connell each pleaded guilty to a contravention of AR128(1) in that they started from their incorrect allotted barriers as nominated by the starter. App Eilbeck and W O’Connell were each fined the sum of $100.
AASHIQ – shifted in near 1200 metres when not clear hampering another runner. Rider advised to exercise care. Shifted in under pressure in run to finish.
BEAUTIFUL BARB – hampered and steadied off heels near 1200 metres when taken in by another runner.
QUICK SPUR – slow to begin.
