GENERAL
J. Pointon the trainer of RADICAL MISS was fined the sum of $25 for failing to amend the stable return for that filly, to the correct ownership.
RACE 1 CLASS 6 HCP. 1400 METRES - (6 STARTERS): WIDER POWER jumped out and hampered DANCDEN.
Passing the 700 metre mark KALTRIX shifted out and made contact with STYLISH LEADER.
Near the 150 metre mark BOSTON RED had to be steadied when KALTRIX shifted in slightly.
RACE 2 SPECIAL CONDITIONS HCP. 1000 METRES - (5 STARTERS): LOKIE’S COURAGE jumped awkwardly and shifted out hampering NIGHT TRAIN.
It was reported that LOKIE’S COURAGE cast a plate on jumping away.
POETIC DECEPTION jumped awkwardly.
Passing the 700 metre mark TANVIERE was inclined to race with its head in the air.
When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on LOKIE’S COURAGE, apprentice Nathan Evans stated that it was his intention to be closer to the pace, however after jumping awkwardly he raced in a rearward position on the gelding. He further added that he attempted to following NIGHT TRAIN approaching the home turn to obtain clear running, however NIGHT TRAIN shifted out. He then stated that whilst attempting a run to the inside of TANVIERE near the 150 metre mark TANVIERE shifted back in resulting in LOKIE’S COURAGE having to be steadied and losing ground. LOKIE’S COURAGE then was obliged to alter course to the outside of TANVIERE and was unable to obtain clear running until over the concluding stages of the race.
RACE 3 CLASS 4 HCP. 1000 METRES - (4 STARTERS): FINAL MOUSE jumped awkwardly and hampered HOUSE ON FIRE.
RACE 4 CARLTON SILVER BOOTEE SUPER QRIS 2YO PLATE, 1100 METRES - (12 STARTERS): OCTOBER BLAZE reared on jumping away and lost considerable ground.
PEGUNNY JET jumped awkwardly.
STANWELL FLIER commenced to hang at approximately the 800 metre mark and tailed off after racing greenly throughout the event. A subsequent veterinary examination of STANWELL FLIER revealed no obvious abnormalities.
BRACE SLOT was briefly hampered near the 800 metre mark between STANWELL FLIER and KHAKI which commenced to race greenly and hang out near the 700 metre mark.
KHAKI continued to race greenly in the middle stages of the event.
THORNLEIGH TRUMP was obliged be steadied off the heels of SILVER SWITCH passing the 600 metre mark when THORNLEIGH TRUMP was reluctant to hold its position inside SILVER SWITCH at that point.
ARBEE was inclined to lay in down the straight resulting in its rider L. Roberts only being able to ride the gelding out in a hands and heels manner.
Subsequent to the race R. Mules reported that he had sustained injuries to the right foot after PEGUNNY JET made contact with the inside of the barrier partition. R. Mules was subsequently stood down for the remainder of the day on medical advice.
RACE 5 CLASS 2 HCP. 1100 METRES - (6 STARTERS): SPORTS CALL jumped awkwardly and hampered FIESAL.
RACE 6 MAIDEN HCP. 950 METRES – (10 STARTERS): R. Mules was replaced by G. Evans as the rider of SPYING MISS.
At the start COBBLER’S PEG and RADICAL MISS came together.
SPYING MISS jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
SPYING MISS was also inclined to hang approaching the first turn at the 700 metre mark. At the same stage RADICAL MISS had to be checked off the heels of RED ACTION, after RADICAL MISS hung out after being reluctant to hold its position inside of RED ACTION approaching the 700 metre mark.
KEEPING THE FIZZ had to be steadied approaching the 200 metre mark after RADICAL MISS was taken out by RED ACTION which shifted out slightly.
BOOKMAKERS: 6 bookmakers fielded at the race meeting.
SWABBING: All winners were sent to be swabbed and the samples collected were forwarded to the Racing Science Centre for routine analysis.
