NATIVE BLOSSOM and MY BEAUTY were both withdrawn due to there being no suitably weighted jockeys to ride the horses.

The start of this race was delayed when IMAREEDYGIRL (T. Bannon) proved difficult to load. Connections were advised that IMAREEDYGIRL would be required to pass a further barrier test before racing again.

BRAVE KALA (R. Hall) jumped away awkwardly and missed the start.

SOLAR ROAN (C. Beets) and IN THE STUDY (N. Evans) were a little slow to jump.

WANDARRI LORD (A. Pattillo) was eased out of the race near the 800m when the horse was inclined to race ungenerously. Jockey A. Pattillo explained he felt something was amiss with the horse. Whilst the veterinary surgeon advised the horse did not appear lame, there was some response under flexing of the off shoulder. In light of the veterinary surgeon’s report, and the fact that the horse has performed in a similar fashion previously, connections will be advised that a veterinary clearance must be provided for the WANDARRI LORD, and that the horse must trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start. A post race veterinary examination of WANDARRI LORD failed to reveal any clinical abnormalities at the time of examination.

WANGARATTA WAHINE (C. Beets) and MISS GYPSY KAAT (D. Tanti) were inclined to overrace rounding the first turn.

Approaching the 200m, BELLARA GOLD (B. Stewart) and AIR WAVES (R. Hall) were both cramped for room by SLEEKUPONEM, which shifted in, making contact with AIR WAVES. B. El-Issa, rider of SLEEKUPONEM), was cautioned and advised to take greater measures to keep his mounts straight.

COLT FORTYFIVE (S. Katsidis) was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight.

Close to the finish line, BELLARA GOLD (B. Stewart) had to be eased to avoid the heels of the tiring MIRANDIZE (N. Evans).

A post race veterinary examination SLEEKUPONEM revealed the horse to be lame in the off foreleg. Connections were advised that a veterinary clearance would be required for SLEEKUPONEM prior to its next race start.

Race 4: Hahn Premium Open Handicap- 900 metres
1st Don Caudillo 2nd Let It Hail 3rd Kouneli 4th – Fleet The Bongo

Correct weight was delayed to enable jockey N. Patchett and trainer J. Rundle the opportunity to view the film of the start to ascertain if NEVACANTEL was afforded the opportunity of a fair start. After heaving evidence from the starter, Mr Fisher, and viewing the film, stewards were satisfied that as the start was effected, NEVACANTEL reared of its own accord and missed the start. Stewards were satisfied that the horse had been afforded the opportunity of a fair start and correct weight was semaphored on the Judge’s placings.

NASHUA GOLD (T. Bannon), which jumped away awkwardly, was tightened for room shortly after the start by NUDE ETRUSCAN (S. Katsidis), which shifted inwards.

Following the late withdrawal of both runners at 3.30 pm and 3.37 pm respectively, deductions of 28 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets, 25 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets applied to bets placed prior to the withdrawal time of BYTHEMOUNTAIN. For bets placed between the withdrawal time of BYTHEMOUNTAIN and the withdrawal time of HALFNIUM, deductions of 7 cents in the dollar on the face value of win bets and 8 cents in the dollar on the face value of place bets were applicable.

The start of this race was delayed due to the track having to be cleared of kangaroos.

STRAIGHT A STUDENT (S. Katsidis) jumped inwards at the start and made contact with PRAIRIE KING (R. Hall).

ALL ROYAL (D. Tanti) was slow to begin.

JUSTFORSATISFACTION (C. Beets) bled from both nostrils during the event, and trainer J. Rundle was advised that the horse would be barred from racing for a period of 3 months. A swab sample was taken from JUSTFORSATISFACTION.
