AMPERES (M Barnham) was fractious in the barriers prior to the start

REECES COMET (S Sheargold) was slow away

AMPERES jumped out and bumped CLIMATE CHANGE (C Pye)

Jockey M Cant reported PRINCESS VELLA raced greenly throughout the event.

Race 2: Patlaw Security Class B Handicap- 1100 metres
1st El Mirage 2nd Checker Champ 3rd Blue Bayou 4th- Talismans Luck

Trainer S Finn was fined $50 for failing to declare a rider for CHECKER CHAMP by the prescribed time.

Shortly after the start VANDALISTIC (App C Pye) knuckled

CHECKER CHAMP (S Sheargold) jumped in resulting in CRAFTY NUMBER (T O’Hara) having to check and lose ground.

TALISMANS LUCK (M Barnham) jumped awkwardly outwards on to EL MIRAGE (A Coome).

At approximately the 300m CHECKER CHAMP commenced to lay in onto EL MIRAGE, shortly after EL MIRAGE then shifted out and bumped CHECKER CHAMP to maintain clear running. From the 200m to the 100m CHECKER CHAMP continued to lay in.

Race 3: Pacific Hotel Class 4 Handicap- 1200 metres
1st– Pyper’s Image 2nd Dubaione 3rd Emma’s Sonnet 4th- Club Fugazi

Trainer A Johnson was fined $50 for failing to declare a rider for TOKYO TANGO by the prescribed time.

Prior to the event Stewards were advised that CHESTER’S EXPRESS (M Cant) would be ridden in a better than midfield position if possible, a public announcement was made. Jockey M Cant reported that the gelding was unable to muster any early pace in order to take up a forward position.

CLUB FUGAZI (M Barnham) raced wide throughout.

GOL (App C Pye) was held up for clear running behind TOKYO TANGO (S Sheargold) from the 300m to the 200m.

Jockey J Stephens reported that the saddle shifted forward on OCCLO and he was placed at a disadvantage.

Race 4: Yeppoon Stockfeeds & Garden Supplies QTIS Maiden Plate- 1200 metres
1st Rytarga 2nd Miss Allykat 3rd Jedilad 4th – Devil’s Deal

DEVIL’S TIME (M Barnham) was slow away

JEDILAD (S McGovern) jumped in and bumped RYTARGA (D Whitmore)

At approximately the 150m KOBBER’S MAGIC (App A Taylor) shifted in slightly and bumped IRON EAGLE (App C Pye)

At approximately the 100m JEDILAD bumped MISS ALLYKAT (J Stephens).


Race 5: GJ Gardiner Homes Yeppoon Cup Open Handicap- 1400 metres
1st Cannyclimb 2nd Writer 3rd Star of Minto 4th- King Demonic

At the start BEAU DE LAGO (T O’HARA) was tightened between WRITER (A Coome) and CANNYCLIMB (App C Pye) both of which shifted ground.

Shortly after the start WRITER shifted in and bumped KING DEMONIC (App F Freihaut)

BEAU DE LAGO and FALVEROSA (App A Taylor) both raced wide throughout.

Jockey T O’Hara reported that BEAU DE LAGO was unable to be restrained in the early and middle stages which resulted in BEAU DE LAGO racing wide.
