THE QUEENSLAND RACING CARNIVAL IS WHERE CHAMPIONS EMERGE

Long regarded as the ultimate launching pad to Group 1 success, the carnival reinforced that status again last spring through the rise of Autumn Boy and Half Yours on the national stage.

The winter carnival starts to heat up with the Kingsford Smith Cup and the Queensland Derby on May 30, as the road to the Stradbroke draws closer.

Following last year’s postponement, the two Group 1 events return to take centre stage at Eagle Farm.

The Kingsford Smith Cup is set for another classic running, after the 2025 edition saw Joliestar pip Zarastro on the line in a dramatic finish to add another Group 1 to the Waller-McDonald tally.

In the Queensland Derby, it was Kiwi galloper Maison Louis who held off the rest of the field to take out the Group 1 race.
