Race 1 Super QRIS Maiden Handicap of 1000m 9 Starters
Due to unavailability of riders at acceptance time A Cameron secured B Richardson to ride SUMMER REFUGE at 1.5kg overweight.
Race 2 Craiglea Stud Handicap of 1000 metres 8 starters
COUNT SARI (T Austin) broke through the boxes but was quickly restrained and took its place in the field. As the filed jumped MULL’S MATE threw its head in the air striking Jockey R Graveson in the face. He sustained injury to the nose and cheekbone and was treated by the ambulance officer.
Race 3 Class 6 Handicap of 1200 metres 4 Starters
MIGHTY RIDE (C Prow) broke through the boxes prior to the start but was quickly restrained and took its place in the field.
Race 4 Class 1 Handicap of 1200 metres 10 Starters
R Bellert reported that his mount EL IRISH dropped the bit and reused to gallop when he attempted to settle that horse shortly after the start. SHEREE’S STAR (R Graveson) eased form a general tightening approaching the 1000m. At a subsequent enquiry R Barone the rider of BAILEY’S SPIRIT was reprimanded for allowing his mount to drift in at that point.
Race 5 Matilda Highway Class 3 Handicap of 1400m 10 Starters
Approaching the 1200m STYLET (R Hammond) was racing fiercely and shifted ground when its rider attempted to hold it up and in doing so rolled in onto PARADISIAC (T Austin) and VAIN TO VEGAS (R Barone) causing that horse to ease. Due to a lack of corroborating evidence R Hammond was given the benefit of a grave doubt and reprimanded.
