Race 1: EACHAM ABRASIVE BLASTING QTIS MAIDEN PLATE- 1100 metres
1st – SUNQUALO 2nd - MEGABOY 3rd - STRESS ATTACK 4th – SARAHS HEART
LOTUS AND MAPLE was declared a late scratching by Stewards at 7.58am on veterinary advice. A veterinary certificate relating to the geldings injuries was furnished.
STRESS ATTACK (S. Morris) was slow into stride.
HARDACTTOFOLLOW (D. Philpot) commenced to over-race in the early stages, hung out from approximately the 800 metres and raced wide for the remainder of the event.
From approximately the 800 metres, MY BELLA NERA (J. Felix) raced in a three wide position.
Jockey G. Lemos reported SARAHS HEART hung out for the majority of the race.
In the straight, SARAHS HEART shifted out under pressure hampering STRESS ATTACK on two occasions.
Race 2: TABLELAND REAL ESTATE CLASS B HANDICAP- 1200 metres
1st - BAR BENDER 2nd – DESERT LIGHTNING 3rd – MIRACLE BAZ 4th – HYPATICA
At the start, HYPATICA (App. T. Fujinuma) jumped awkwardly outward.
MIRACLE BAZ was slow to begin.
HYPATICA raced wide around the home turn and in the straight.
A post-race veterinary inspection of KONINGIN STAR did not reveal any apparent abnormalities.
Race 3: NQ BULK MOLASSES CLASS 2 HANDICAP- 1000 metres
1st - ACCOLADE 2nd – A KNOWN FACT 3rd – GENERAL SPARK 4th – LANG SUPREMACY
GENERAL SPARK (I. Toward) knuckled badly on jumping away.
At the start, SMILEAWAY (App. T. Fujinuma) jumped in onto LANG SUPREMACY (J. Felix)
A KNOWN FACT (S. Morris) knuckled on jumping away.
At approximately the 800 metres, SMILEAWAY shifted in slightly which caused GENERAL SPARK to be steadied. Stewards issued App. T. Fujinuma a reprimand for careless riding for allowing his mount to shift in. (ARR 137a)
A KNOWN FACT shifted out under pressure in the straight, taking ACCOLADE (D. Crossland) wider on the track. Jockey S. Morris was reminded of his obligations to stop riding and straighten his mounts.
Correct weight was delayed when Trainer J. Ryan and Jockey S. Morris requested to view the photo finish.
Race 4: PAYLESS TIMBERS OPEN HANDICAP – 1100 metres
1st – HOBSON’S CHOICE 2nd – TEEJAY HUNTER 3rd – FACE THE ACTION 4th – EDGEWANA
HOBSON’S CHOICE (G. Lemos) jumped awkwardly inwards and lost some ground.
At approximately the 800 metres, TEEJAY HUNTER (D. Philpot) had to be steadied from the heels of FACE THE ACTION (F. Edwards) which had shifted inwards to take a position on the rail. TEEJAY HUNTER commenced to race ungenerously when initially restrained, shifted outwards and bumped SKY MOUNTAIN (I. Toward), raced in restricted room for a short distance and lost further ground. Stewards advised Jockey F. Edwards to exercise more care when shifting ground.
At approximately the 600 metres, TEEJAY HUNTER over-raced and was steadied.
At approximately the 100 metres, TEEJAY HUNTER shifted out under pressure and made contact with SKY MOUNTAIN.
A post-race veterinary inspection of SKY MOUNTAIN did not reveal any apparent abnormalities.
