SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT: Townsville Saturday 23 August 2014:
Race 3: Graham H Roberts OAM Memorial Class 4 Handicap 1630m:
Trainer Mr J Manzelmann expressed disappointment with the performance of A FINE DROP OF RED and stated that the mare had pulled well and it was now his intention to freshen up A FINE DROP OF RED and drop the mare back sharply in distance.
Race 6: EDE Events Townsville Amateurs Cup Open Handicap 1960m:
Trainer Mr J Manzelmann confirmed the instructions issued to C Whitely which had been similar to the gelding’s most recent start at Cairns 9th August that being to make a mid-race move in an attempt to obtain a significant lead. Mr Manzelmann expressed some disappointment with the performance however added that in his opinion the gelding was stepping up in grade. His explanation was noted.
Race 1: Ray White Atherton Class 3 Plate 1000 metres:
1st – PUDZIANOWSKI 2nd – SNITZEM 3rd – AIR OF HEAVEN 4th – WISHFUL
MOCKBA – Slow to begin.
CASHED UP BULLY – Crowded shortly after the start.
PUDZIANOWSKI – Apprentice reported that gelding was inclined to hang out throughout.
Passing the 400m DAZZLUNA had to be steadied when racing tight to the inside of AIR OF HEAVEN (F Edwards) which shifted in when not clear. F Edwards was severely reprimanded under AR137(a).
Race 2: Toga & District Lions Club Maiden Handicap 1100 metres:
1st – LADY OF THE LAW 2nd – SAVE THE PLANET 3rd – CHILAGOE 4th – ROMAN VIRTUE
ROMAN VIRTUE – Crowded at the start.
LADY OF THE LAW – Shifted out at the start.
Race 3: Annick Cesaro Memorial Benchmark 60 Handicap 1200 metres:
1st – DAZZLE ON 2nd – DRAGON SIGN 3rd – OTTANA 4th – LE CHAT BOTTE
TREASURE SON – As the start was effected gelding refused to jump and took no competitive part in the race. Trainer Mr B Furber was told that prior to racing again TREASURE SON would have to perform satisfactorily in a jump out.
Race 4: Atherton Hallorn’s Leisure Park Benchmark 70 Handicap 1400 metres:
1st – GOD’S REWARD 2nd – IDLE SITUATION 3rd – GOLD BENDER 4th – ELECTRIC BLUE
BOLD TROJAN – When questioned jockey J Dickinson said that after beginning awkwardly BOLD TROJAN lost ground. He said that he then rode his mount along in the early stages however BOLD TROJAN failed to respond and settled at the rear of the field. He added that when placed under pressure in the straight BOLD TROJAN failed to respond to his urgings and was disappointing.
Race 5: Atherton Hotel Open Handicap 1000 metres:
1st – BALUSTRADE 2nd – MIDNITE RAID 3rd – STIEG 4th – GLAURANG
When R Ryan was ill stewards permitted F Edwards to ride CHEVAL ARGENTE.
CHEVAL ARGENTE – Was found to be lame in the off hind leg and was subsequently a late withdrawal at 3.21pm on veterinary advice. Trainer Mrs J Ryan as told that prior to CHEVAL ARGENTE racing again a veterinary certificate of fitness must be produced.
