Race 1: PARMELAT B’MARK 65 HCP 1380m
SNIP ESPRIT (R. Faehr) was slow to begin.
ROSEHIP (S. Bayliss) began awkwardly.
HONOUR JACKO (I. Coombes) and RYTARGA (K. Gates) both raced wide in the early stages.
Jockey Bayliss reported at scale that in his opinion ROSEHIP did not appreciate the sand track.
A post race veterinary examination of STAR GIGGLE, which performed below market expectations revealed the mare to be showing signs of tying up. Trainer T. Hess advised stewards that he would now send the mare for a short spell.
Race 2: SIMPLOT MAIDEN PLATE 1090m
Correct weight was delayed to allow the connections of the second placegetter to view the photo finish for first. After viewing the photo finish connections were satisfied with the judges placings, and stewards declared correct weight.
SEQUALO ROSE (R. Faehr) began awkwardly and lost ground as a result.
STAINCROSS (S. Bayliss) shifted out at the start making contact with WISH I WAS NELLY (B. Derbyshire)
AWESOME SMILE (I. Coombes) and SEQUALO ROSE both raced wide throughout.
Jockey Bayliss reported at scale that his mount STAINCROSS resented the sand kick back.
Race 3: BUNDY JUICE OPEN HCP 1090m
PROSPECTOR BOB (C. Pye) was slow to begin.
REGAL PRINCE (B. Derbyshire) began awkwardly and shifted in making heavy contact with UNIQUE FUSE (F. Elliott).
PROSPECTOR BOB and TELLKANE (D. Hayse) both raced wide for the majority.
Apprentice F. Elliott was afforded the opportunity to comment on the disappointing performance of UNIQUE FUSE. App F. Elliott stated that after being bumped at the start by another runner the gelding failed to muster any speed when placed under pressure and raced at the tail of the field, and proved very disappointing in it's finishing effort. Trainer B. Gill could offer no tangible explanation for the disappointing performance. Stewards noted their explanations.
Race 4: MASTERFOODS CLASS B HCP 850m
FLYING RYAN (I. Coombes) was slow to begin.
WILD MAX (B. Derbyshire) began awkwardly and then raced wide throughout the event.
UKOK LASS (A. Badger) was tightened for room at the start between RHINO (S. Bayliss) and DANGEROUS EDITION (C. Pye) which shifted in.
Approaching the 300m, UKOK LASS had to be steadied when tightened for room between RHINO and DANGEROUS EDITION which shifted in.
Leaving the 300m, DANGEROUS EDITION had to be steadied away from the heels of UKOK LASS which shifted out abruptly.
Apprentice K. Gates rider of ZIP ZIP GIRL dropped her whip over the concluding stages.
Race 5: RUM CITY FOODS CLASS 2 HCP 1212m
Correct weight was delayed to allow jockey Coombes the rider of PRESIDENTIAL placed fourth by the judge, to view the photo print for third. Subsequent Jockey Coombes was satisfied with the judges placings, stewards then declared correct weight.
WICKENBY (K. Gates) was slow to begin.
WILDWOOD OAKS (R. Faehr) was checked at the start when tightened for room between PRESIDENTIAL (I. Coombes) and SANSIRA (C. Pye) which began awkwardly and shifted out.
SNIP ‘N’ AWAY (J. Hoopert) raced wide throughout.
WICKED FRAAR (F. Elliott) raced wide from the 700m onwards.
A post race veterinary examination of WILDWOOD OAKS revealed no abnormalities at time of examination. Trainer C. Kilshaw undertook to report to stewards any abnormalities that may come forward in days following the event.
