Stewards questioned G. Auckram over the performance of SUNDAE JESTER. G. Auckram stated that he was obliged to race wide from the 600m, and when placed under pressure from the 550m, the gelding failed to respond to his riding and was very disappointing. He was of the opinion that SUNDAE JESTER had a distinct disliking for wet tracks.
Following this race, the track rating was upgraded to dead.

1st – Yickadee 2nd – Roman Ace 3rd – Sclavos 4th - Voltaat
STRELITZIA (S. Bayliss) was slow to begin.

Nearing the 750m, YICKADEE (B. Calkin) laid in and momentarily crowded GRAND TRICK (S. Drake), which had to be steadied. B. Calkin was instructed to exercise more care in future when his mounts shift ground.
SCLAVOS (G. Auckram) hung out rounding the home turn and proved difficult to ride out. Trainer R. Ludwig could offer little excuse for the racing manners of SCLAVOS and was instructed that a warning was being placed on the gelding. Mr Ludwig also advised that SCLAVOS would now be sent for a spell.

A post race veterinary examination of SARGE MCGRATH revealed the gelding to be lame in the off hind leg. Trainer A. Smith was instructed to produce a veterinary clearance for the gelding prior to its next race start.
Stewards questioned trainer Ms F. Braybrook over the improved performance of KELTIC MARK. Ms Braybrook stated that the gelding’s previous start at Toowoomba on 21 October, KELTIC MARK was not at any stage comfortable in the going and was disappointing on the night. She had however expected a more forward showing on its home track.
ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED
