GLASS HALF FULL hung out under pressure in the home straight and proved difficulty to ride.

Race 2: BEAUDESERT HOTEL C,G&E MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M

Connections advised that it is the intention to ride MIGHTY SEQUALO (J. Taylor), which has led at its previous starts, back in the field if possible. MIGHTY SEQUALO raced in a mid to forward position.

GRAND BATTLE (K. Wharton) and ALL BUT (S. Fawke) were slow to begin.

HARSIESE (R. Jamieson), which was slow to begin, was further inconvenienced by MUSTOLA GOLD (T. Bell), which jumped out at the start.

LIFE’S LIKE THAT (C. Schmidt) and MIGHTY SEQUALO overraced in the early stages.

WHITE RAIN (J. Byrne) raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight and shifted ground on two occasions.

Race 3: XXXX F&M MAIDEN PLATE – 1200M

The start of this race was delayed when ZENITH CHARM (K. Wharton) was troublesome to load.

KENTUCKY CHICK (R. Jamieson), CHANCES PLAIN (T. Bell) and RAINY GREY (P. Holmes) were all tightened for room at the start between GOD’S PATIENCE (R. Ride), which shifted out, and ZENITH CHARM, which shifted in.

SHEZA LONHRO (P. Schmidt), which began awkwardly, shifted out making contact with EMPRESS EUGENIE (J. Taylor). A short distance later SHEZA LONHRO lost ground when tightened for room by MORANBON’S A ROCKA (D. Missen), which was taken out by MY LETHAL PONY (S. Drake).

SAYU (L. Williams) overraced in the early and middle stages.

ZENITH CHARM and KADJABI JILL (T. Treichel) raced wide for the majority of the event.

SAYU was held up for clear running in the home straight and went to the line without being fully tested.

Race 4: QTIS 3YO MAIDEN H’CAP – 1050M

LITTLE MOUNTAIN (D. Missen) was tightened for room at the start and lost ground between BARONESS (S. Fawke), which began very awkwardly and shifted in, and STAR AMORE (J. Byrne), which shifted out.

CALL ME A DREAMER (R. McMahon) began awkwardly and lost ground.

HIDDEN ASSASSIN (T. Bell) was slow to begin.

TREATMELIKEALADY (T. Harrison) began awkwardly and shifted out, making contact with DUQUESNE WHISTLE (T. Treichel), and then shifted in, brushing CATAMARAN (G. Geran).

LITTLE MOUNTAIN overraced in the early stages.

DUQUESNE WHISTLE, CALL ME A DREAMER and SLUGSBROTHERTURBO (B. Ainsworth) raced wide throughout.

CALL ME A DREAMER hung out leaving the 500m until entering the home straight.

Race 5: QPS INVESTMENT GROUP CLASS 2 H’CAP - 1300M

Near the 1000m ONE GREY (J. Johnson) shifted in, tightening THOMAS’S TRAIN (T. Bell) in on to LUCK FROM ABOVE (N. Masuda), which in turn shifted in tightening the running of COVER UP (K. Yoshida). As a result of this incident LUCK FROM ABOVE raced further back in the field than anticipated and as a consequence both LUCK FROM ABOVE and THOMAS’S TRAIN were obliged to race wide throughout. Apprentice J. Johnson, the rider of ONE GREY, was reprimanded and advised to show greater care in similar circumstances.

Near the 700m COVER UP raced in restricted room between TOSHINAGA (Michael Palmer) and LUCK FROM ABOVE and when being restrained shifted out forcing LUCK FROM ABOVE wider on the track.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of LUCK FROM ABOVE, apprentice N. Masuda stated that his instructions were to ride the horse in a forward position, however when pressured in the early stages to do so, LUCK FROM ABOVE was unable to improve forward and then raced wide throughout. He added that once placed under pressure leaving the 400m LUCK FROM ABOVE failed to run on and in his view was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination of LUCK FROM ABOVE revealed no abnormalities.

Race 6: BARRIER REEF POOLS CLASS 1 H'CAP – 1050M

CREDITABLE, which became fractious in the tie-up stalls and slipped over, was examined by the veterinary surgeon who advised that the filly had sustained minor injuries in the incident. Acting on veterinary advice, stewards ordered that CREDITABLE be withdrawn at 3.30 pm.

SIR BLAZE (C. Schmidt) and DUKE’S CHARM (S. Fawke) began awkwardly.

BOODLES’N’BOODLES (S. Drake) and MOCKBA (J. Taylor) were slow to begin.

Near the 700m KERRICAIT (L. Williams) had to be momentarily steadied when racing in restricted room between TUX (B. Appo) and ONLINES (B. Ainsworth), both of which shifted ground.

TUX and ONLINES raced wide throughout.

Race 7: BEAUDESERT SOFTDRINKS RATING 62 H'CAP – 1650M

BOARDWALK (D. Missen) was slow to begin.

SIPPIN’BUNDY (C. Schmidt) was tightened for room at the start between SPIRIT OF AMBER (J. Taylor) and SMOKIN’ ELLE (J. Byrne), which shifted out.

BI WINNING (L. Williams), SERIOUSLY READY (B. Stewart) and BOARDWALK all raced wide for the majority of the event.

A post-race veterinary examination of SPIRIT OF AMBER, which compounded leaving the 500 metres, revealed no abnormalities.
