Race 1: Derby Day 1st Nov F&M Maiden Plate – 1400m
The start of this race was delayed due to INTERIM APPROVAL having to be replated at the barriers.
QUEEN GEE – Slow into stride. Twisted its near hind plate in running. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
CZEBRAY – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
EL JADIDA – Bumped near 150m and became unbalanced momentarily.
JUST MISPLACED – Raced wide throughout.
Race 2: XXXX CG&E Maiden Plate – 1400m
VEGAS CLUB - Connections advised it would be ridden further back in the field if circumstances permit. The horse raced accordingly. Raced wide in the early and middle stages of the race.
MYSTICAL HAIL – Declared a late scratching at 1.40 pm on veterinary advice after being kicked in the enclosure. Subsequent to the event, stewards ordered that all monies invested on the horse be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers placed prior to scratching time:
0 cents in the dollar for the Win #3
5 cents in the dollar for place of winner #3
7 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #1
2 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #10
HAPPY ROOM – Raced wide throughout.
MISS YOU JOHNNY – Bled from both nostrils during the event. Connections were advised that the gelding would be barred from racing for a period of 3 months.
Race 3: Beaudesert Times Class 2 Handicap – 1650m
CLANGORANDA – Pulled hard in the early and middle stages of the race. Lost its near fore plate in running.
ONLY AMOTHER COULD – Had to be steadied near the 1100m.
MY MASERATI – Improved onto the heels and had to be steadied near the 1100m.
AKBAR – Commenced to weaken near the 600m and shifted in inconveniencing another runner.
SIR SQUIGGLE – Had to be steadied when momentarily tightened for room near the 600m.
Race 4: Barrier Reef Pools F&M Class 1 Handicap – 1100m
PARAFIRE – Slow into stride. Raced wide for the majority of the race.
BLACK CHERRY BLUE – Had to be steadied momentarily near the 100m when tightened for room.
MARLEE’S LUCK – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
STORMY ARRIVAL – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
COCKTAIL THONG – Lost its off fore plate in running.
Race 5: QPS Investment Group CG&E Class 1 Handicap – 1100m
DOUBLE DAN – Slow into stride. Jockey L. Cassidy was questioned regarding the poor performance. He stated that he could offer no explanation other than the gelding was making an abnormal respiratory noise. A post race veterinary examination reveal cardiac arrhythmia. Trainer N. Coy was advised that DOUBLE DAN must perform satisfactorily in an official trial, and also provide stewards with the results of an ECG prior to its next race start.
PUNK STAR – Slow into stride.
GALLIC WONDER – Overraced in the middle stages for some distance. Raced ungenerously near the 300m and became awkward for a number of strides.
BEYOND THE STORM – Raced wide throughout.
LIFTING EASY – A. Spinks reported he could offer no tangible explanation for the poor performance, adding that the gelding never travelled at any stage throughout and was reluctant to stretch out. A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had bled from one nostril. Trainer B. Ahrens was advised that the horse must perform satisfactorily in a 1000 metre gallop before stewards, and also must trial competitively in an official trial prior to racing again.
COME BY OFTEN – Trainer B. Currie was questioned regarding the improved performance of the gelding. He stated its most recent starts had been on dirt surfaces which it had failed to handle, and that subsequently he jumped COME BY OFTEN out on a grass track and the gelding had performed well, and as such he was expecting forward showing in today’s race.
Race 6: Schweppes Class 3 Plate – 1200m
ROL’N ROB – Declared a late scratching at 8 am on veterinary advice.
MIDNIGHT ACE – Slow into stride.
LOCK’S LEGEND – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted in abruptly at the start.
DIAMOND PEARL – Bumped heavily on jumping away. Raced wide throughout.
TAKE A JACKET – Began awkwardly.
STYLISH DRAGON – Bumped on jumping away.
ESTEVEZ – Hung out from rounding the 700m turn. Held up for clear running from the 400m to a point near the 300m.
CHILLI BEACH – Raced wide throughout.
Race 7: Beaudesert Hotel Ratings Band 0-62 Handicap – 1300m
WAY OF BEING – Declared a late scratching at 4.15 pm due to transport difficulties.
ALL FIVES – Slow into stride.
SIR BLAZE – Raced wide from the 700m.
CHEATIN’ CHARLIE – Had to be steadied rounding the home turn.
RAINY GREY – Raced wide for the majority of the race.
OLLIE RUNS RIOT – Raced wide throughout.
