Race 1 Class 5 Handicap - 800 Metres – 7 Starters
COPPER TOP (O Galea), GUITAR (Darren Rewald) and KEEN MATCH (R Hammond) were all slowly away.
Race 2 Class 2 Handicap - 1050 Metres - 5 Starters
An enquiry was held into incident at about the 950 metres in which MEADOWLARK (P Allen) had to ease. It was found that PIMPALA SQUILLION (G Peacock) had shifted away from the fence slightly and that BOBSCAY (D Rewald) had moved in slightly causing a tightening to MEADOWLARK. An enquiry was conducted into and incident at about the 800 metres in which BOBSCAY (D Rewald) and PIMPALA SQUILLION (G Peacock) were required to ease. It was found that BLONDSAVAL (R McMaster), having its first race start, had lugged in despite the best efforts of it’s rider and caused a momentary tightening. R McMaster was reprimanded over the incident.
Race 3 Class 1 Handicap - 1200 Metres- 7 Starters
An enquiry was conducted into alleged interference to HOAGY (E Camille) shortly after the start. It was found that BOZ’S BOY (G Peacock) had ducked in momentarily causing HOAGY to be checked. G Peacock was issued with a reprimand. An enquiry was conducted into alleged interference to BOZ’S BOY (G Peacock) after leaving the 800 metres and to NOBLE ACHIEVER (T Austin) and COVER (R Hammond) approaching the 600 metres. Apprentice P Allen, the rider of PURITAN MAN, subsequently pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding and was suspended from riding in races up to and including 28/8/99. (AR137(a))
Race 4 Class 4 Handicap – 1300 Metres- 7 Starters
CRANBERRY PARK (O Galea) reared just prior to the gates opening and was slowly away.

Race 5 Open Handicap – 1400 Metres - 8 Starters
BEST OF THE JILLYS withdrawn at 1.20pm acting on veterinary advice. Trainer advised that a veterinary inspection would be required prior to that horse starting again. An enquiry was held into alleged interference to REDFORD (R Hammond) approaching the 1100 metre turn. It was found that a general tightening had occurred when SOLO VERSION (R McMaster) had shifted away from the rail as it approached the course proper and movemnet from the outside had caused a general tightening in which BOLD FICTION (D Rewald) and REDFORD had to be checked. REDFORD continued to race fiercely to the 800 metre turn giving R Hammond a difficult ride restraining the horse off the heels of the other runners.

Routine swab samples taken from all winners.
