Race 1: Class 3 Plate - 1300 metres
1st –TOP BUTTON 2nd – MUSHATTA 3rd – WARCRUSHER 4th- BIG BERT
WARCRUSHER (R. Kerwin) began awkwardly and raced wide for the majority of the race.
TOP BUTTON (M. Barnham) was a little slow to begin.
MUSHATTA (D. Carrigg) raced wide throughout.
Race 2: Benchmark 55 Handicap- 1200 metres
1st –RED BULL 2nd – KEWAY 3rd – KELCHEZ 4th – ETOILE VITESSE
Stewards permitted Jockey S McGovern to ride KEWAY 2.5kg overweight when no other riders were available. Stewards gave consideration as to the circumstances of this breach and Jockey McGovern was fined $100 (AR 120(b))
When Jockey D Whitmore was injured, and no other rider was available, RYTARGA was a late scratching at 1.15pm. A medical certificate will be required prior to his next riding engagements.
TOP MESSIAH (M. Barnham) and RED BULL (R. Kerwin) were a little slow to begin.
KEWAY (S. McGovern) was slow into stride.
TRACKER (J Babarovich) raced wide throughout.
Race 3: Maiden Plate - 950 metres
1st – CRAIGLEA OPAL 2nd – SEIDE TRACK 3rd – SPECIAL NELL 4th – CHERRY BRANDY
Acting on a confirmed telephone call from Trainer R Thompson, Stewards declared PIECE OF MAGIC a late scratching at 12.53pm when advised that the gelding had been injured when fractious en route to the course and had removed plates in this incident.
SEIDE TRACK (R. Kerwin) was fractious in the barrier, Jockey Kerwin reported that the gelding had raced greenly in the early stages.
Race 4: Open Handicap – 950 metres
1st –FRAHA 2nd – NEDIYM’S QUEST 3rd –REV THE CHEV 4th – OTANGO
TONK (S McCullum) blundered on jumping. It was observed that the gelding had a small cut to its off fore pastern and lacerations to its off fore heel bulb.
NEDIYM’S QUEST (D Carrigg) began awkwardly.
OTANGO (M. Barnham) and KAMBOJA (S McGovern) raced wide throughout.
Jockey R Kerwin reported that HAYIL METRO failed to stretch out on the dirt surface.
Jockey M Barnham reported that OTANGO may have got its tongue back in running.
Race 5: QTIS Added Stakes Class 2 Handicap- 950 metres
1st –2nd –3rd –4th –
Due to no available riders, INDY’S BULLION and FOREBODING were declared late scratchings at 3.45pm.
Stewards permitted Jockey M Barnham to ride BAR QUEEN JOJO one kilogram overweight due to no other available rider.
REAL DREAMS (D. Carrigg) blundered on jumping.
CRAIGLEA SEAL (App K Aho) and BYNAZAR (S. McCullum) made contact at the start.
CRAIGLEA SEAL, BYNAZAR and MILWAUKEE BELLE (J Babarovich) all raced wide throughout.
Jockey S McCullum reported that BYNAZAR failed to handle the dirt track surface.
