Race 1: Clermont Pharmacy Maiden Plate- 1000 metres
1st – BOSSY BOOTS 2nd – FOREBODING 3rd – VICTORY JACK 4th – HUGGING
Trainer K McGovern (VICTORY JACK) was fined $50 for late declaration of rider.
SKYDECK (S. Sheargold) was slow to begin.
Near the 300 metres, VICTORY JACK (S. McGovern) and HUGGING made contact and HUGGING become unbalanced.
Race 2: Clermont News Class 2 Handicap- 1000 metres
1st - MONASHEE STAR 2nd – MAGIC PEARL 3rd – CHARMINGLY 4th – CLEAR CONSCIENCE
FLYER BELLE was declared a late scratching at 12.40pm due to no available rider.
Stewards permitted S. McGovern to ride MONASHEE STAR 2.5kg overweight due to no other rider being available.
Jockey M. Cant reported BILLKAY hung out throughout the race.
Stewards questioned Jockey S. Sheargold in relation to EVENING MISS.
Jockey Sheargold stated the filly felt awkward in its action throughout and when placed under pressure near the 400m commenced to yield ground and was eased down. Trainer R. Vagg stated the filly would now be removed from his stable. A post race veterinary inspection did not reveal any significant abnormality. In light of its recent performances, Stewards advised the filly would be required to satisfactorily compete in an official barrier trial over at least 800m prior to its next race start.
Race 3: Clermont Concrete & Constructions Open Handicap- 1000 metres
1st – BEAU DE LAGO 2nd – REGAL MOUNTAIN 3rd – DESERT HAYIL 4th – DIGGING DEEP
Stewards permitted Jockey W. Bell (BEAU DE LAGO) to ride 1.5kg overweight and Jockey S. McGovern (BILLY THE MOUTAIN) 2kg overweight.
DESERT HAYIL (S. Watkin) began awkwardly and was steadied away from the heels of REGAL MOUNTAIN (T. O’Hara)
Race 4: Bennett Contracting Class 4 Handicap- 1200 metres
1st – DODGE THE THORNS 2nd – HOWATCH 3rd – JOE KWILA 4th – TOKYO TANGO
Stewards permitted Jockey S. McGovern to ride HOWATCH 1/2kg overweight due to no other available rider at or closer to the allotted weight.
TOKYO TANGO (M. Cant) was difficult to load.
Race 5: Clermont Crane Hire Class B Handicap - 1400 metres
1st - JEDILAD 2nd - SPARTANEOUS 3rd - UPUPAWAY 4th – SAVVY DONNA
SARBI and COCO LOCO were declared late scratchings at 12.40pm due to no available riders.
Stewards permitted Jockey W. Bell (SPARTANEOUS) to ride 1.5kg overweight and Jockey S. McGovern (JEDILAD) 2kg overweight.
Near the 300 metres, JEDILAD lay in and made contact with the hindquarters of UPUPAWAY (M. Cant) which become unbalanced.
