After viewing the film Jockey Sheargold lodged a protest against GHIACCIO the 1st placegetter over the final 150m. After hearing the rider’s submissions and viewing the patrol films it was established GHIACCIO had shifted in slightly and had raced tight with PLAY A TUNE KENNY (S Sheargold) however stewards were of the opinion that this did not materially affect the placings. The objection was dismissed and correct weight was then declared. Approaching the 150m GHIACCIO lay in onto PLAY A TUNE KENNY placing it in restricted room.

When questioned regarding the performance of MANHATTAN DANCER Jockey S McGovern stated that the gelding made the turn wide at the 1300m and from there he placed the gelding under pressure to maintain its position. Foreman G Green stated he believed the gelding had not handled the track and intended to continue with the horse’s preparation.
