RACE ONE Maiden Handicap 1250 Metres 9 Starters
At approximately the 900mtr mark VINDICATED (L.Nelson) steadied when being tightened for racing room by FUME (F.Edwards) who was racing to the outside and TIMELY REMINDER (N.Paine) which shifted outwards marginally. VINDICATED (L.Nelson) laid off the track at both the 900mtr and the home turns.
RACE TWO Class 2 Handicap 1000 Metres 12 Starters
As the gates opened CENTURY SLOT (C.Whiteley) jumped inwards and made contact with GREAT COVET (App D.Crossland). GREAT COVET returned to the enclose with blood in both of its nostrils and under the terms of Ar53A is now banned from racing for a period of three calendar months.
RACE THREE Class 3 Handicap 1250 Metres 12 Starters
ANTARCTIC KNIGHT (I.Toward) was reluctant to load into the barriers and delayed the starting time of the event. Trainer Mr M.McIlwain was advised by the Stewards that the horse must now pass a barrier jumpout prior starting again. MR. JERRY (R.Gallacher) was a late scratching by order of the Stewards when the mount reared over in the barriers and dislodged its rider. Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered deductions be given at a rate of 11cents in the dollar for both the win and the place portions of the bets. Trainer J.McConachy was advised by the Stewards that MR. JERRY must pass a barrier jumpout prior to starting again. Jockey F.Edwards (KENSINGTON PRIDE) was severely admonished for allowing his mount to shift inwards at the 1100mtr mark and tighten the running of SEPARATE (C.Whiteley) in onto ZELDA (N.Paine) which in turn tightened KOSICE (App D.Crossland) which had to be checked.
RACE FOUR Class 4 Handicap 1400 Metres 11 Starters
BLUE REIGNS (B.Corbett) was slow into stride as the start was effected. As the gates opened HAKIM (K.Rockett) jumped inwards and made contact with TRUMPETS (K.Brady). Soon after the start TALE OF TRIOMPHE (A.Cowie) caught the hind quarters of MARTIAL AIR (R.Ryan) and shifted outwards which resulted in PATRAIT MISS (D.Dean) clipping the heels of TALE OF TRIOMPHE (A.Cowie). PORTAIT MISS returned to the enclosure with a laceration to the off-hind coronet.
RACE FIVE Class 6 Handicap 1000 Metres 7 Starters
As the gates opened ALMOST THERE (A.Cowie) jumped away very awkwardly and made contact with WAKAYA (I.Toward). At approximately the 800mtr mark KLARSYNT (N.Paine) was unable to obtain a clear run and over-raced from that point until the home turn.
RACE SIX Open Handicap 1250 Metres 12 Starters
Apprentice N.Homann became indisposed and was replaced as the rider of PA MAGIC by Jockey I.Toward. As the start was effected GOLD TOOTH MALOUF (D.Sewell) jumped inwards and caused a general tightening to the inside runners. PRINCETON BAY (C.Symons) struck the running rail and lost ground at approximately the 450mtr mark of the event.
RACE SEVEN Open Handicap 1400 Metres 14 Starters
As Apprentice N.Homann was indisposed the replacement rider of TRANQUIL DANCER was Jockey J.Stopps. CLONING (D.Philpot) struck the running rail at the 1000mtr mark and then took CANDIDATES (B.Corbett) wide on the track. Jockey B.Corbett was advised to show more care in the future after allowing his mount to shift inwards at the 500mtr mark and hamper the running of BRILLIANT SPY (D.Dean).
