Race 1: CEC Group Maiden Plate - 1250 metres
1st - LOOK LEFT 2nd - RUHLMANN 3rd - WHAT’S HIS DANE 4th - PLACID BOY
Stewards considered an objection lodged by D. Philpot, the rider of PLACID BOY which finished fourth, against WHAT’S HIS DANE (Apprentice R. Plumb) being declared third, alleging interference near the 200 metres. After taking evidence from the parties involved and viewing the official video films, stewards found that at about the 200 metres WHAT’S HIS DANE shifted out from behind GUYALLA (I. Toward) to improve and made contact with PLACID BOY, however, in the opinion of the stewards believed that the interference to PLACID BOY was not sufficient to uphold the protest. Accordingly, the protest was dismissed and the placings ordered to stand.
On jumping LADY LATAR (P. Cullen) shifted in and brushed BURMARRAD (G. Kliese).
At the start CASH FLOW POSITIVE (F. Edwards) shifted out and bumped DOSH FOR YOSH (A. Cox).
Making the turn near the 850 metres PLACID BOY (D. Philpot) shifted in and crowded KRISTATOS (A. Merritt), which was hampered and in turn shifted in and inconvenienced BURMARRAD (G. Kliese). D. Philpot was that she would be expected to make a greater effort to keep her mounts straight in similar circumstances.
Approaching the crossing at the 700 metres LADY LATAR (P. Cullen) raced awkwardly.
From the 550 metres to the 450 metres LADY LATAR (P. Cullen) was obliged to race in restricted room to the inside of HIDE IN THE JUNGLE (D. Crossland).
Approaching the 900 metres RUHLMANN (J. Stopps) got its head up and overraced.

Shortly after the winning post PAINTED UP (W. Kenning) raced up onto the heels of SILVER PATRIOT (G. Kliese).
At about the 1200 metres JUNKETS (Apprentice R. Plumb) shifted in sharply and inconvenienced JAR JAR BINKS (G. Cullen). JUNKETS continued to shift in and dictated the running of OVERSEAS (P. Cullen), which was taken inwards and made contact with STONEY PLANET (M. Bennett), which was taken in across heels and had to be checked. Apprentice R. Plumb was given the benefit of a very grave doubt as to whether he should be charged with careless riding. Nevertheless, he was severely reprimanded and advised to take more care of his fellow riders in future.
Race 6: Carlton Draught Amateur Cup Open Handicap - 2100 metres
1st - LEICA FERRARI 2nd - SNIPPETY SNIP 3rd - JAKEO 4th - KITNAT
On three occasions after being placed in the barriers LEICA FERRARI (D. Green) broke through. On each occasion the gelding was quickly restrained, examined by the veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.
The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow jockey S. Katsidis, the rider of KITNAT which finished fourth, and trainer Mr P. Dwyer to view the official video film.
At the start LEICA FERRARI (D. Green) shifted out abruptly and bumped GIVE AND TELL (M. Bennett), which in turn was taken out and made heavy contact with GALICANO (K. Penrose).
Leaving the turn out of the straight for the first time RUSSELL ON (D. Crossland) overraced.
For some distance near the 500 metres SPURIOUS (P. Cullen) was obliged to race in very restricted room between REVOLVE AROUND HIM (A. Merritt), which was giving ground, and INSTITUTION (I. Jockey J. Stopps reported that in the straight KAREEM failed to stretch and in his opinion was sore, therefore he elected not to ride the gelding out.
