Race 1: HAPPY BIRHTDAY CLARKE MAIDEN PLATE 1250M
1st – DIAMOND PROPHET 2nd – JESSE GIRL 3rd – SOLIDXAAR 4th – CRESTAR

MONSOON MIST (I. Toward) was declared a late withdrawal at 1.15pm by order of the Stewards acting on Veterinary advice after the gelding was injured in the Raceday stalls. As betting had not commenced there were no betting deductions.

LIGHTNING LAD (J. Murphy) was slow to begin.

Near the 1000m, JESSE GIRL (F. Edwards) was momentarily tightened for room by SOLIDXAAR (D. Crossland) which shifted in. D. Crossland was advised to exercise more care in future circumstances.

Near the 900m, PUDZIANOWSKI (J. Stopps) hung out forcing JESSE GIRL (F. Edwards) wider on the track.

PUDZIANOWSKI (J. Stopps) raced ungenerously throughout the event.

Race 2: JACK WILSON MEMORIAL CLASS 2 HANDICAP 1250M
1st – WHISKY SISTER 2nd – WHAT’S YOUR ANGLE 3rd – GAYLORD 4th – KONINGIN STAR

There was a substantial delay to the running of this event due a power outage in the district. As a result this race was run without electrical equipment.

At the start, KONINGIN STAR (M. Atkinson) began awkwardly shifted in and made contact with SHOCKIE (I. Toward).

Approaching the 200m, GAYLORD (F. Edwards) had to be steadied and alter course when KONINGIN STAR (M. Atkinson) shifted in. M. Atkinson was advised to exercise more care in future circumstances.

Race 3: PICCONES XMAS PARTY CLASS 4 HANDICAP 960M
1st – CYCLONE LARRY 2nd – RUBIN JANE 3rd – GENERAL VANDAL 4th – NINETY DEGRESS

At the start, LUCKY RULER (J. Stopps) was tightened for room between BIKKIE BARREL (S. Kaya) and CYCLONE LARRY (J. Murphy) which was taken out by INDIERE (G. Kliese).

Near the 500m, GENERAL VANDAL (D. Crossland) was steadied when tightened for room between RUBIN JANE (M. Atkinson) and LANGFURY (F. Edwards) which shifted in. At a subsequent inquiry F. Edwards was severely reprimanded and advised that he must be sufficiently clear when shifting ground in the future.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of LANGFURY, F. Edwards stated that after beginning well LANGFURY travelled well during the early and middle stages of the event. F. Edwards further added that when placed under pressure leaving the 500m LANGFURY failed to respond to his riding and in his opinion may have come to the end of its preparation. A post race veterinary examination of LANGFURY failed to reveal any obvious abnormalities.

Race 4: HPW ACCOUNTANTS CLASS B HANDICAP
1st – SURPASSER 2nd – RASH REGENT 3rd – CAPE HULA HULA 4th – PRECOCIOUS BELLE

DON’T BOW MATE was declared a late withdrawal at 8.22am due to no rider being available.

Stewards permitted D. Crossland to ride CROCODILE LASS 1/2kg overweight as no other rider was available.

Approaching the 800m, SURPASSER (F. Edwards) became unbalanced and had to be steadied when racing in restricted room between PRECOCIOUS BELLE (J. Murphy) and RASH REGENT (I. Toward) which shifted in. I. Toward was reprimanded.

Approaching the 700m, PRECOCIOUS BELLE (J. Murphy) improved up onto the heels of RASH REGENT (I. Toward) and had to be steadied.

When questioned regarding the tactics adopted on CROCODILE LASS, D. Crossland stated that the gelding which was dropping back in distance for today’s event failed to show any early speed and as a result lost contact with the main body of the field. D. Crossland further added that when placed under heavy pressure from leaving the 500m, CROCODILE LASS finished the race of strongly and in his opinion will be much better suited over further distances then today’s event. Stewards noted D. Crossland’s explanation.

Race 5: HPW ACCOUNTANTS OPEN HANDICAP 1400M
1st – OUR PRIVATE JET 2ND – CUPBEARER 3rd – SNEAK ‘N’ OUT 4th – GREAT PORTENT

When questioned as to the reason for OUR PRIVATE JET racing back in the field, I. Toward stated that he had been instructed to race in a forward position, however after beginning only fairly he was caught racing 4 wide in the early stages. I. Toward further added that due to being caught wide in his opinion the best option was to restrain OUR PRIVATE JET and obtain a position closer to the fence. Stewards noted the explanation.

ALL WINNERS WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED
