RACE: 1. Trainer M. Nolan (Lily Filou and Touch by Pedro) was fined the sum of one hundred dollars for failing to declare the riders by the required time. At the start Dublin Up (Ms L. McCoy) and Lily Filou (H. Akiyama) were hampered between Count Valour (D. Green) which jumped out and Rodway Joy (A. Lane) which jumped in. Near the 850 meters Lily Filou, which was racing greenly, shifted in and made heavy contact with Dublin Up. Leaving the 800 metersCool Magi (G. Geran) which got its head up whilst being eased from the heels of Paddy’s Blues. Cool Magi then hung out for some distance. Leaving the 200meters Lily Filou shifted out under pressure. Willdonna (A Parramore) was held up for clear running in the early stages of the home straight. Dokic returned to scale with lacerations to the off hind from being galloped on. Apprentice N Tomizawa was found guilty of a careless riding charge, the careless riding being that approaching the 750 meters he permitted his mount Dokic to shift in when insufficiently clear of Tillszoff (N Jolly) causing that horse to be taken in crowding the running of Paddy's Blues (S Katsidis), resulting in Paddy's Blues being steadied and Tillszoff striking the heels of Dokic and being severely checked. N Tomizawa was suspended from riding in races for a period of 8 meetings to take affect from mid - night 22/04/01 and to expire at mid- night on 5/05/01. Time off: 12.56 PM.
RACE: 2. At the start Rhythmic Grey (C. Kearney) which jumped out made heavy contact with Renegade Prince (D. Griffin). Marauding Lass (S. Nolen) and Precise Score (N. Evans) were slowly away. Leaving the 800 meters Moritassie (L. Appo) got its head up whilst being eased from the heels of Raw and Racy (N Jolly). Precise Score hung out from the 800 meters to the early stages of the home straight. Time off: 1.30pm.
RACE: 3. Trainer Ian O’Neill (Spicy Affair) was fined the sum of fifty dollars for failing to declare the rider by the required time. Welsh Piper (Ms D Van Bekkum) jumped very awkwardly. Miss Entreveaux (N. Jolly) which jumped awkwardly and out made heavy contact with the gate was forced to make the home turn very wide. Approaching the 700 meters Welsh Piper whilst being eased from the heels of Jacksons Bankroll (A.Lane) as the pace slowed knuckled when it shifted out and struck the heels of Jacksons Bankroll. Jacksons Bankroll, which raced greenly, was inclined to hang out throughout. Time off: 2.07pm.
RACE: 4. Wancha (N. Evans) was slowly away. Devil’s Claw (R. Kerwin) which jumped awkwardly and out made heavy contact with the gate. Near the 400 meters Coolangatta (S. Katsidis) which shifted out to obtain clear running made contact with Devil’s Claw. Approaching the home turn Wancha and Touch by Pedro made contact and continued to race tight for some distance. Time off: 2.42pm.
RACE: 5. Trainers M. Currie (Chamberlain) and W. Baker (Achtung Englander) were each fined the sum of fifty dollars for failing to declare the rider by the required time. Stewards accepted the explanation of trainer M. Guldbransen why the rider of Had a Hunch was not declared by the required time. Chamberlain (S. Nolen), Dazzling Chariot (N Tomizawa) and Roaring Fork (J. Warrington) were slowly away. Peroxide (D. Griffin) jumped in the air as the gates opened. Leaving the 200 meters Son Of Rossi (G Geran) shifted in under pressure. Time off 3.21 PM.
RACE: 6. High Rewards (L McCoy) shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages. Manawatu (NZ) (D Craven) which tailed the field throughout was inspected by the Veterinary surgeon on returning to scale which revealed that the gelding had sustained an injury to both fore tendons. Trainer M Craven was advised that a Veterinary certificate was required for the gelding prior to his next start. When questioned regarding the improved performance of Chantique. Trainer G Small stated that after A Gillett rode the mare 2 starts back he advised him that the mare would be better suited over 1400 meters. Mr. Small also stated that they were very surprised with the performance of the mare and connections had not supported the mare, explanation accepted. When questioned why Kwila's Image got so far back in the early stages. Trainer J Thomas reported that he instructed Apprentice B Carne not to get into a speed battle early and attempt to take up a position close to the fence. B Carne stated that after being trapped wide in the back straight she elected to ease her mount to take up a position on the rail. Stewards advised Mr. Thomas and B Carne that their explanations would be noted. Time off 3.57 PM.
RACE: 7. D. Green (Ole Sundowner) replaced J. Hoopert who failed to arrive on course. J. Hoopert will be interviewed in relation to the matter at a later date. The Woodies (H. Akiyama), Riotchee (G. Geran), Beacon (D. Gay) and Ole Sundowner (D. Green) were slowly away. Leaving the 1000m Flying Feathers (D. Rewald) got its head up whilst being eased from heels. Flying Feathers then hung out for some distance. Approaching 750 meters The Woodies was eased from the heels of Only the Strong (S. Katsidis). N. Evans (Forever Missed) was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift out over the concluding stages causing Pele (A. Gillett) to be steadied when taken out and Beacon which was following had to be eased from the heels of Pele. Time off 4.33 PM.
RACE: 8. D Green (Decimus) replaced R. Goltz who was indisposed. Stewards accepted the explanation of Trainer T. Gollan why the rider of Belle of Sheba was not declared by the required time. Approaching the 800 meters Parlour Games (A Russell) got its head up whilst being eased. Near the 250 meters Stygian (A Parramore) was disappointed for a run between Parlour Games and Mighty Tsar (L McCoy). Leaving the 200 meters and over the concluding stages Mighty Tsar shifted in and made contact with Grand Aspect on 3 occasions. Time off 5.05 PM.
All winners were swabbed.
20/04/01: Jockey J Hoopert advised Stewards that due to transport problems he was unable to fulfill his commitment at Dalby on 19/04/01. He also stated that he had contacted the club and advised of his problem. Stewards accepted his explanation.
