The track was upgraded to a Good 2 at 11:00am

RACE 1: WATER DYNAMICS CLASS 1 H’CAP 1200M-
1st-Governor Royal 2nd-Go Dan Go 3rd-Curraghmore 4th-Spartaneous

GO DAN GO (B Richardson) and GOVERNOR ROYAL (A Smith) made contact on jumping away.

GOVERNOR ROYAL which blundered near the 400m, shifted out rounding the home turn forcing DEVIL’S DASH (K Ashton) and CURRAGHMORE (C Bryen) wider on the track.

Approaching the 250m, GO DAN GO and KUMALI (P Wolfgram) made heavy contact when both runners attempted to obtain a run between FLASH JESTER (S Bogenhuber) and SPARTANEOUS (S Apthorpe) which shifted in marginally. As a result KUMALI which was unable to obtain this run was forced to ease. A short distance later GO DAN GO, KUMALI and SPARTANEOUS were all severely tightened for room between FLASH JESTER and GOVERNOR ROYAL which shifted in abruptly when struck with the whip. As a result GO DAN GO and KUMALI were both forced to check.

CURRAGHMORE shifted in during the early stages of the home straight when placed under pressure.

RACE 2: MARY’S COMMERCIAL HOTEL MAIDEN PLATE 1200M-
1ST-Stay Put 2nd-Equal Arch 3rd-Miss Elanora 4th-Set the Bar

SET THE BAR (S Bogenhuber) began awkwardly.

REALEE (N Nishio) raced keenly at the heels of KARASUMI KING (K Ashton) for some distance near the 900m and near the 800m was forced to ease.

SET THE BAR and CORNESS (B Richardson) bumped near the 500m.

MISS ELANORA (S Wiseman) struck the running rail and became awkward near the 400m when attempting a narrow run.

ISADORA GOLD (A Smith) which raced wide throughout shifted in when placed under pressure in the early stages of the home straight.

AERIAL ACTION (J Warrington) made the home turn very wide.

MISS ELANORA shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages of the event.

EQUAL ARCH (K Banks) and STAY PUT (P Wolfgram) brushed near the finish line when both horses shifted ground marginally.

A post race Veterinary Inspection of AERIAL ACTION revealed the filly to have a small amount of blood in one nostril. It was determined by the Veterinary Surgeon that the presence of blood was as a result of a small laceration inside the nostril and therefore no action was taken.

App. S Wiseman was reminded of her obligations in relation to raising her whip arm above shoulder height.

RACE 3: WARWICK CREDIT UNION OPEN H’CAP 1100M-
1ST-Frisco Lights 2nd-Red Ferments 3rd-Missy Windy Weepu 4th-Ima Joker

MORCOMBE (S Bogenhuber) began awkwardly.

HELLO CHRISTMAS (N Nishio) which hung in during the middle stages of the event raced wide throughout.

Near the 200m, MISSY WINDY WEEPU (S Drake) was disappointed for a run between MORCOMBE and FRISCO LIGHTS (R Goltz) which was taken out marginally by HELLO CHRISTMAS which shifted out under pressure. MISSY WINDY WEEPU was then forced to alter course and shift inwards to obtain clear running.

RACE 4: USQ OPEN H’CAP 1400M-
1st-Kneel and Raise 2nd-Uncle Jan 3rd-Stop Lying 4th-Heza Flashman

UNCLE JAN (A Smith) jumped with its head in the air.

DIGGING DEEP (S Apthorpe) blundered on jumping away.

KNEEL AND RAISE (R Goltz) over raced in the early and middle stages of the event.

HEZA FLASHMAN (B Richardson) raced wide for the majority of the event.

UNCLE JAN made the home turn wide.

J Warrington the rider of HE’S SOME EAGLE was reminded of his obligation to ride his mount out until the end of the race.

RACE 5:QLD COTTON CLASS B H’CAP 1400M-
1st-Lady Agulhas 2nd-Elusivity 3rd-That’swhatyouget 4th-Stephen Got Even

LADY AGULHAS (K Banks) was hampered at the start by ELUSIVITY (P Wolfgram) which was taken out by STEPHEN GOT EVEN (J Warrington).

Near the 400m, STEPHEN GOT EVEN was tightened for room and lost ground when racing to the inside of THAT’SWHATYOUGET (B Richardson) which shifted in despite the efforts of its rider.

Stewards questioned jockey S Richardson and Trainer T Gollan in relation to the disappointing performance of BY CHOICE. Jockey Richardson advised Stewards that the gelding travelled well throughout the run however when placed under pressure BY CHOICE failed to respond to his urgings and in his opinion proved very disappointing. Mr Gollan agreed with jockey Richardson’s view that the gelding was disappointing and could offer no tangible explanation for the performance other then to advise that the gelding may not have been suited by the quick back up from its last run at Toowoomba on the 23rd of April. Mr Gollan undertook to advise Stewards in the days subsequent to the event anything which may have contributed to the poor performance of BY CHOICE. Stewards noted both explanations.

RACE 6:KOMATSU AUSTRALIA CLASS 2 H’CAP 2000M-
1ST-I Love Tobouggie 2nd-Testa Renaya 3rd-Zi Music 4th-Seattle Dane

I LOVE TOBOUGGIE (K Ashton) was slow to begin.

RIP OFF (B Richardson), SEATTLE DANE (S Drake), ZI MUSIC (S Apthorpe) and TOP IT OFF (J Warrington) were all tightened for room shortly after the start between EAT MORE DUST and WILD WILD ROSE (W Abbey) which shifted in.

After being hampered at the start RIP OFF failed to muster early speed despite the urgings of its rider.

WILD WILD ROSE raced wide throughout.

SEATTLE DANE shifted out under pressure rounding the home turn.

A warning was issued against WYNNUM WEST (S Bogenhuber) which hung out for the majority of the event and proved difficult to ride out over the concluding stages of the event.
