RACE 4: LUSKIN STAR H'CAP - 1200M.

Soon after the start, CAPSULE shifted in and made contact with SPORTS DIARY.

After initially being taken in by PERFECTIONIST at the 1100m., SHADIYM, which had made ground quickly to that horse's inside, continued to shift in, resulting in both OUR MOTIVE and YORK RITE being hampered. Both S. Seamer, rider of PERFECTIONIST, and K. Pope, rider of SHADIYM, were cautioned for failing to exercise the requisite degree of care.

ATLANTA FLYER tended to race ungenerously after being steadied off the heels of BROCARD on the first turn.

Near the 800m., WAHOO had to be restrained to avoid the heels of SHADIYM, which shifted in when not quite clear. SPORTS DIARY, which was following, had to be steadied as a consequence. K. Pope, rider of SHADIYM, was reprimanded for failing to provide sufficient clearance to WAHOO.

At the 700m., after being brushed by ATLANTA FLYER, WAHOO shifted out slightly, taking SPORTS DIARY out across the heels of PARDONS. In this incident, SPORTS DIARY struck the heels of PARDONS and blundered badly, losing ground.

Following the event, trainer G. Ryan reported that RORAZINO was found to have been galloped on on the near hind leg.

B. Stewart was reprimanded for weighing in half a kilogram overweight on second placegetter, CAPSULE.

RACE 5: VAIN H'CAP - 1350M.

PEDRO IS DANCING brushed the running rail whilst being steadied off OH CANNY, which crossed to the lead on the first turn.

BUSH BALL continued to race ungenerously throughout the middle stages, which resulted in the bit being pulled through that horse's mouth. A veterinary examination of BUSH BALL subsequent to the event failed to reveal any abnormality. Trainer A. Bailey was advised that a warning was being placed on BUSH BALL

J. Stanley, rider of MIRACLE JAKE, accidentally dropped his whip near the 300m..

After being slow to begin, ZOFFIN was hampered a short distance after the start by BAM, which was taken out by BOKE.

RACE 7: TODMAN H'CAP - 1660M.

ARCHIDAMIA was slow to begin.

When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of MELLIERI, C. Reith stated that when obliged to race without cover in the early and middle stages, MELLIERI tended to overrace, and this he felt had contributed to the horse's failure to run on at its first attempt over the 1600 metre journey.

RACE 8: DOOMBEN H'CAP - 1040M.

OVERFOND blundered as the start was effected.

RAIN MAGIC jumped away awkwardly and struck the side of the stalls, losing ground.

RACE 10: TIME AND TIME H'CAP - 1350M.

LOOK TO SEA and MEGAMOTZA, which were both kicked behind the barriers, were examined by the club's veterinary surgeon and passed fit to start.

S. Seamer, rider of PASHA'S GIRL, was reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in approaching the first turn when not clear of VIENNA BLAZE, resulting in VIENNA BLAZE being taken in on to VICTORY BLEU, which had to be restrained by its rider. DASHING AWAY, which was following, also had to be restrained in consequence.

Apprentice L. Moloney, in company with trainer A. Gibson, were questioned regarding the failure of DASHING AWAY to take up a forward position as advised by Mr Gibson to stewards prior to the race. L. Moloney stated in attempting to ride to instructions he rode DASHING AWAY in an aggressive manner in the early stages, however the mare failed to respond and raced most ungenerously. He further advised that the mare struck some trouble on the first turn when VICTORY BLEU had to be steadied off VIENNA BLAZE. DASHING AWAY was then disappointed for a run between VIENNA BLAZE and LOOK TO SEA at the 50m.. Trainer A. Gibson advised that the mare's racing manners could possibly be explained by her being heavily in season. He further explained that the mare would now be sent to stud. At a subsequent inquiry, L. Moloney was fined the sum of $50 for misconducting himself by his treatment of DASHING AWAY upon return to scale.

SHE'S A NATURAL had difficulty obtaining clear running until after passing the 200m..

ALL WINNERS AND TIROL TAVERN WERE SENT TO BE SWABBED.
