SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT:

FROM GOLD COAST – SATURDAY, 5 MAY 2007: Trainer S. Dwyer was fined $500 under AR. 140A for failing to notify a gear change for SWEET AS by the prescribed time.

Race 1: FLIGHT CENTRE 1MW LY H’CAP - 1200m
1st – Single Rose 2nd – Craiglea Emma 3rd – Atapi 4th - Lombardy

SUUBIRD (B. Pengelly) and ZIP ZIP ARAY (S. King) were slow to begin.

SPINARDO (M. Dorrington) jumped away awkwardly.

TROPIQUALO (R. Plumb) and PREND (Z. Purton) raced wide throughout.

LOMBARDY (G. Colless) was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight and from the 150m until passing the 100m.

SUUBIRD lost its near front plate in running.

Race 2: EARLEE PRODUCTS LORD MAYOR’S CUP - 1615m
1st – Headturner 2nd – Beauty Watch 3rd – Mr Ubiquitous 4th – Rash Promise

HURRAH (L. Innes) and HELLO POSSUMS (J. Holder) were tightened on jumping away between DIAMONDSONDINSIDE (Z. Purton), which shifted out, and GAWNE (C. Brown), which shifted in after being initially taken in by BEAUTY WATCH (N. Rawiller).

DE BEERS (M. Rodd) blundered on jumping away.

ARENACEOUS (J. Taylor) jumped away awkwardly.

Jockey N. Rawiller, the rider of BEAUTY WATCH, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a), the careless riding being that near the 1400m he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of GAWNE, which was taken in on to DIAMONDSONDINSIDE, which was also taken in on to HEADTURNER (D. Beadman), which in turn shifted in and tightened the running of DEBEERS (M. Rodd), which had to be checked. In the incident RASH PROMISE (S. Scriven), HURRAH, SKYLEDA (C. Newitt) and UPSTAGED (S. Arnold), which were following, were all hampered to varying degrees as a consequence. N. Rawiller’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 meetings, with the term of suspension to commence immediately and expire at midnight on Wednesday, 6 June 2007. In addition N. Rawiller was fined $1,000.

HURRAH, which was inclined to overrace in the early stages, improved to the inside of DIAMONDSONDINSIDE approaching the 1000m and in doing so momentarily tightened HEADTURNER (D. Beadman). HURRAH then continued to overrace for some distance.

POINT MADE (S. King) was caught wide throughout.

Passing the 300m HEADTURNER shifted out to improve and in doing so brushed DIAMONDSONDINSIDE.

Race 3: GLENLOGAN PARK STAKES - 1350m
1st – Storm Signal 2nd – Jazzella 3rd – Reverenza 4th – Villa Bled

ACCELERATION (C. Spry) was slow to begin.

IMAGINING (D. Oliver) and REVERENZA (D. Beadman) came together on jumping away.

Near the 1200m ROSETTI BAY and LOVE AND MONEY (J. Holder) were tightened for room between NOVA STAR (M. Rodd) and MY HANGOVER (L. Innes) which shifted in. In this incident LOVE AND MONEY had to be steadied to avoid the heels of MY HANGOVER. VILLA BLED (B. Pengelly), which was following, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of LOVE AND MONEY. L. Innes was severely reprimanded under AR. 137(a) for allowing his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear.

Approaching the 800m ROSETTI BAY (M. Du Plessis) shifted out. A short distance later ROSETTI BAY shifted in and tightened IMANA (G. Boss). As a result, IMANA had to be steadied. M. Du Plessis was cautioned and advised to be clear when shifting ground.

Approaching the 600m when the pace eased, MY HANGOVER had to be steadied to avoid the heels of COUNTESS BATHORY (S. Scriven). NOVA STAR, VILLA BLED, ROSETTI BAY, IMAGINING, IMANA and POIYM (R. Plumb) all had to be steadied as a consequence.

O’TONDA (S. King) and LOVE AND MONEY raced wide throughout.

FRITZ’S PRINCESS (J. Cassidy) raced wide in the middle stages.

Near the 300m VILLA BLED was obliged to alter course to avoid the heels of MY HANGOVER which shifted out. L. Innes, the rider of MY HANGOVER, was cautioned and advised that he was obliged to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

IMANA had difficulty obtaining clear running for the majority of the straight.

COOLROOM CANDIDATE (Z. Purton) was held up for clear running in the early stages of the straight until near the 150m.

A post-race veterinary examination of MY HANGOVER revealed that the mare had been galloped on.

A post-race veterinary examination of FRITZ’S PRINCESS failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 4: XXXX GOLD CHAMPAGNE CLASSIC - 1200m
1st –Keiki 2nd – Key Bar Nights 3rd – Diamond Deck 4th – Pride Of Power

CENT PER CENT (Z. Purton) and MFUWE (J. Cassidy) were tightened on jumping away between FALVALEA (M. Cahill) and KEY BAR NIGHTS (G. Boss) which shifted out.

Rounding the first turn PRIDE OF POWER (B. Pengelly) and PEPPERWOOD (S. Scriven) raced in restricted room between DIAMOND DECK (M. Rodd) and ROYAL ASSCHER (C. Brown) which was taken in slightly by FALVALEA.

ROYAL ASSCHER (C. Brown) and FALVALEA raced wide throughout.

Passing the 300m DIAMOND DECK shifted out to improve around the heels of KEIKI (D. Oliver) and in doing so took PRIDE OF POWER out which in turn made contact with the hind quarters of MFUWE.

A post-race veterinary examination of ROYAL ASSCHER revealed no abnormality and a swab sample was taken.

A post-race veterinary examination of CENT PER CENT failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 5: HIDDEN DRAGON DOOMBEN ROSES - 2020m
1st – Lasoron 2nd – My Lady’s Chamber 3rd – Eskimo Queen 4th – Santagostino

VERY GRAND (S. Arnold) was a little slow to begin.

SHIRA (M. Du Plessis) jumped away awkwardly and shifted in, making contact with the hind quarters of MY LADY’S CHAMBER (Z. Purton).

Approaching the winning post on the first occasion DELORAINE (C. Brown) had to be steadied when placed in restricted room between MY LADY’S CHAMBER and LASORON (D. Beadman) which shifted in. D. Beadman (LASORON) then endeavoured to relieve the pressure, however LASORON then laid in despite the efforts of its rider, further inconveniencing DELORAINE. Nevertheless, D. Beadman was reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

SWEET AS (J. Cassidy) was forced to race wide in the early and middle stages.

Near the 1600m DOUG’S MATE (S. King) had to be steadied to avoid the heels of THE BLACK ROD (C. Newitt) which was taken in by ESKIMO QUEEN (M. Zahra). M. Zahra was reprimanded under AR. 137(a). A short distance later THE BLACK ROD overraced at the heels of GLOGIRL and shifted out making heavy contact with ESKIMO QUEEN, momentarily forcing that horse wider.

Passing the 1600m SHIRA improved up on to the heels of MY LADY’S CHAMBER and had to be checked. SHIRA then shifted out hampering TAYRHIANA (B. Stewart).

Approaching the 1200m TAYRHIANA improved up on to the heels of DELORAINE (C. Brown) and had to be steadied.

Passing the 800m DELORAINE improved up on to the heels of LASORON (D. Beadman) and had to be steadied. TAYRHIANA, which was following, was obliged to shift three wide to avoid the heels of DELORAINE. TAYRHIANA was then obliged to race wide for the remainder of the event.

When questioned regarding the poor performance of DELORAINE, jockey C. Brown stated that the filly failed to settle throughout the event and when placed under pressure after turning for home failed to respond to his riding. He added that in his opinion the filly may not have run out the distance of today’s event. A post-race veterinary examination of DELORAINE failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 6: DARLEY BTC SPRINT - 1350m
1st – Friday Creek 2nd – Mr Hornblower 3rd – Son Of Dane 4th - Tellem

AMYJAYE POWER (C. Newitt) was slow to begin.

MASAI PRIDE (C. Williams), MY SON DAY (S. Seamer) and FRIDAY CREEK (T. Clark) all raced wide throughout.

Shortly after straightening ENRIQUE (J. Holder) shifted out to improve and made contact with STORMHILL (J. Cassidy).

Approaching the 200m ANWAAR (N. Rawiller) shifted out and made heavy contact with VOCALIC (C. Spry).

Approaching the 100m MASAI PRIDE was momentarily tightened for room between THE JACKAL (S. King), which shifted out slightly, and DOUBLE DARE (D. Oliver), which shifted in slightly.


Near the 50m TELLEM (S. Scriven) shifted out and bumped ANWAAR.

Post-race veterinary examinations of ANWAAR and MASAI PRIDE failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 7: XXXX GOLD DOOMBEN CUP - 2020m
1st – Cinque Cento 2nd – Gaze 3rd – Pentathon 4th – Grand Zulu

COALESCE (D. Beadman) jumped away awkwardly.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of REIGNING TO WIN, jockey G. Boss stated that in his opinion the horse was unable to run the distance of today’s event given the tempo of the race. Trainer J. O’Shea stated that in his opinion REIGNING TO WIN failed to run out the distance of today’s event. Mr O’Shea informed stewards that he intends to freshen the horse up and keep it to races of shorter distance in its current campaign. A post-race veterinary examination of REIGNING TO WIN failed to reveal any abnormalities.

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of DESERT WAR, jockey D. Oliver stated that the horse travelled well, however when placed under pressure rounding the home turn failed to respond to his riding. He added that in his opinion the gelding may have come to the end of its preparation. Trainer G. Waterhouse advised stewards that DESERT WAR would be sent for an immediate spell. A post-race veterinary examination of DESERT WAR failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Race 8: LYNDHURST STUD BTC CLASSIC - 1350m
1st – Gold Edition 2nd – Grand Reve 3rd – J’Adane 4th – Sequential Charm

ALBERTO (Z. Purton), SNORT (D. Oliver) and MUSAYTIR (G. Boss) were all tightened on jumping away between J’ADANE (C. Brown), which shifted in slightly, and BIANCA (S. Seamer), which shifted out. In this incident SNORT lost its position.

DANLEIGH (K. O’Hara) raced wide throughout.

Near the 800m MUSAYTIR (G. Boss) raced in restricted room and had to be steadied when tightened between BIANCA (S. Seamer) and GRAND REVE (C. Williams), which shifted in. C. Williams was severely reprimanded and advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

SATSANG (M. Cahill) was inclined to hang out in the middle stages.

SEQUENTIAL CHARM (J. Holder) was inclined to lay in under pressure from after passing the 200m.

A post-race veterinary examination revealed that GRAND REVE was lame in the off fore tendon.
