Race 1: COCA COLA AMATIL OPEN QITS 2YO FILLIES H’CAP - 1020m
1st – Optionality 2nd – Write Cheek 3rd – Ring Me Ruby 4th – Sunset Affair

HEART OF JOY (J. Taylor) was slow to begin.

ORDAIN (L. Cassidy) knuckled at the start.

RING ME RUBY (R. Wiggins) shifted out soon after the start resulting in SEASTRA (J. Byrne) being taken out on to UTILISM (S. Galloway).

WRITE CHEEK (C. Munce) and ORDAIN raced three wide throughout.

After passing the 800m SEASTRA hung out and had to be steadied from the heels of ORDAIN. UTILISM, which was following, had to be checked to avoid the heels of SEASTRA.

SUNSET AFFAIR (D. Browne) was held up when unable to secure clear running from the 400m until near the 100m.

Rounding the home turn UTILISM was held up and unable to improve when awkwardly placed at the heels of SEASTRA.

Approaching the 200m FIESTY BELLE (T. Bell) shifted out and brushed ORDAIN.

D. Browne, the rider of SUNSET AFFAIR, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that approaching the 100m he permitted his mount to shift out, making heavy contact with FIESTY BELLE, which in turn was taken out and made heavy contact with ORDAINED, and a short distance later he continued to shift out when insufficiently clear of FIESTY BELLE and as a result FIESTY BELLE had to be checked. D. Browne’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 10 meetings, to commence at midnight on Sunday, 20 November, and expire at midnight on Sunday, 4 December 2011.

S. Galloway, the rider of UTILISM, was was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under AR. 137(a) in that after passing the 100m he permitted his mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of HEART OF JOY, resulting in that runner having to be checked to avoid the heels of UTILISM. S. Galloway’s licence to ride in races was suspended for a period of 7 meetings, to commence at midnight on Sunday, 20 November, and expire following the day meeting at Ipswich on Friday, 2 December 2011.

Race 2: PATH DEVELOPMENT OPEN H’CAP - 2200m
1st – Rundle 2nd – Racing Heart 3rd – Sir Presidente 4th – Patmoss

Approaching the winning post on the first occasion RACING HEART (J. Byrne) shifted in, taking DEACON (B. Stewart) in, resulting in PATMOSS (Matthew Palmer) racing in restricted room. A short distance later DEACON continued to shift in, resulting in PATMOSS having to be steadied to avoid that runner’s heels. Stewards issued B. Stewart with a reprimand and advised him to take greater measures to afford his fellow riders sufficient racing room in the future.

Race 3: PLOUGH INN TAVERN F&M CLASS 6 H’CAP - 1350m
1st – Hidden Kisses 2nd – Mossriver 3rd – Just Destiny 4th – Hull City/Charsui

RAISE UP (R. McMahon) slipped behind at the start and as a result lost considerable ground.

COUNT YOUR FINGERS (T. Bell) jumped awkwardly, shifted out and bumped HULL CITY (D. Browne).

For some distance after passing the 1000m LITTLE BROWN HORSE (J. Taylor), when being restrained, was inclined to overrace and near the 900m had to be eased from the heels of JUST DESTINY (E. Wilkinson).

MOSSRIVER (L. Cassidy) and COUNT YOUR FINGERS raced three wide throughout.

For some distance after passing the 100m HULL CITY was disappointed for clear running.

Approaching the 50m ZIGZAG (T. Treichel) was inconvenienced when tightened for room between COUNT YOUR FINGERS and RAISE UP, which shifted out under pressure.

A post-race veterinary examination of IN A TANGLE (B. Stewart) revealed the mare was exhibiting slight lameness in the off foreleg.

Race 4: PRESTWIDGE FINANCIAL SERVICES 0MW H’CAP - 1200m
1st – Cape Kidnappers 2nd – Magic Tartan 3rd – King Of The Kongo 4th – Slugsbrothernugget

As R. Wiggins was to be overweight, B. Stewart was substituted as the rider of PRIME COGNAC. R. Wiggins was fined $200 under AR. 120(b).

KING OF THE KONGO (M. Wood) hung in under pressure in the early stages of the straight.

Near the 200m MASTER FIBBA (Matthew Palmer) had to be steadied when tightened for room between PEGUNNY CAT (R. McMahon) and MAGIC TARTAN (T. Bell), which was taken in by HUSS (C. Pye). Apprentice Pye was advised to make greater effort to keep her mounts straight when tiring in the future.

Stewards sought an explanation from jockey L. Cassidy regarding the riding tactics he adopted on DUX BELLORUM, in particular in the early and middle stages where, when racing in a three wide position, he made the decision to ride forward and cross HUSS and race outside of the leader CAPE KIDNAPPERS (J. Byrne). L. Cassidy stated that approaching the 800m, when racing in a three wide position, DUX BELLORUM was travelling strongly and rather than sit three wide he elected to attempt to clear HUSS and settle outside of the leader. L. Cassidy further added that near the 700m he was forced to work harder on DUX BELLORUM when HUSS was also ridden forward at that stage. After settling outside the leader, jockey Cassidy explained that DUX BELLORUM travelled comfortably and upon straightening, in his opinion, he was travelling better than the eventual winner and he was disappointed in the finishing effort of DUX BELLORUM. Trainer R. Heathcote, after viewing the stewards’ patrol footage, agreed with the explanation regarding the tactics adopted by jockey Cassidy in the early stages.

R. McMahon was asked to explain the riding tactics adopted on PEGUNNY CAT, particularly whether he could have improved his position approaching the home turn wider on the track. R. McMahon explained that he was reluctant to shift wider at that point as he would have been trailing EXPLORE THE WORLD (B. Looker), which in his view would not have taken him into the race, so he elected to stay to the inside rounding the home turn to save ground and after racing in restricted room, when attempting a narrow run to the inside of MASTER FIBBA for some distance near the 350m, PEGUNNY CAT worked to the line strongly. Stewards noted his explanation.

Apprentice T. Bell, the rider of MAGIC TARTAN, was reprimanded under AR. 137A(5)(a)(i)for using his whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m.

Race 5: BRISBANE INTERNATIONAL 2010 OPEN F&M H’CAP - 1020m
1st – Alltherightmoves 2nd – Liesele 3rd – Miss Imagica 4th – Norocos

Trainer L. Richardson was fined $100 under LR. 67 for failing to declare D. Browne as the rider of INANNA by the prescribed time.

MISS IMAGICA (T. Bell), INANNA (D. Browne) and LIESELE (L. Cassidy) raced three wide throughout.

After passing the 200m POINTE DANCER (R. Wiggins) was tightened for room between FALVELINA (R. McMahon) and MISS IMAGICA, which shifted in under pressure before being straightened by its rider. In this incident R. Wiggins became unbalanced in the saddle for a short distance. T. Bell, ther rider of MISS IMAGICA, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.

Race 6: HOMESTEAD TAVERN QTIS 3YO H’CAP - 1110m
1st – Saraji 2nd – Royal Shout 3rd – High On Believing 4th – Ticket To Dream

TUDOR GLEN (L. Rolls), which was kicked by another runner behind the barriers, underwent a veterinary examination and was cleared to start.

TICKET TO DREAM (R. McMahon) was slow to begin.

EMDEE (E. Wilkinson) jumped away awkwardly and lost ground.

SPINHRO (J. Taylor) was tightened for room soon after the start between MILITARY GRACE (B. Stewart) and TUDOR GLEN, which shifted out.

Near the 900m TUDOR GLEN hung out resulting in BLACK CASH (Matthew Palmer), WITCHES WONDER (L. Cheshire) and SOCARADA (B. Looker) being taken wider on the track. TUDOR GLEN continued to hang out for the remainder of the race which resulted in WITCHES WONDER being taken extremely wide. Stable representative Mr P. O’Sullivan was advised that TUDOR GLEN must compete in an official barrier trial before being permitted to race again.

Approaching the 600m TOP OF THE ROCK (C. Munce) had to be eased when tightened for room between TICKET TO DREAM and EMDEE, which shifted in slightly.

Approaching the 400m TUDOR GLEN, when hanging out, shifted out across the heels of WITCHES WONDER, which also shifted in. SOCARADA, which was following, was hampered in this incident.

Near the 150m SPINHRO, when weakening, was inconvenienced between HIGH ON BELIEVING (L. Cassidy), which shifted in slightly, and SEIYO (J. Byrne), which shifted out under pressure. J. Byrne was advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground in similar circumstances.

Stewards sought an explanation from R. Wiggins regarding the disappointing performance of AMBER'S CROWN. R. Wiggins explained that the filly was abnormally fractious in the mounting yard and did sweat up significantly prior to entering the barriers. He added that AMBER'S CROWN failed to respond to his riding after entering the home straight and he was disappointed in the filly’s finishing effort. Trainer S. O’dea indicated that the filly would now be freshened up. A post-race veterinary examination of AMBER'S CROWN revealed the filly to have a poor post-race recovery rate.

MILITARY GRACE (B. Stewart) lost its off fore plate in running.

Race 7: SPIRO’S BOTTLESHOPS BRISBANE H’CAP - 1630m
1st – Fillydelphia 2nd – Humma 3rd – Rockdale 4th – Royal Reign

In the early stages of the home straight WRITER (B. Stewart) was held up and unable to improve.

Near the 200m ROYAL REIGN (C. Munce) shifted out and brushed TOPPING (S. Galloway).

After passing the 100m SECRETS UNTOLD (L. Cassidy) was inconvenienced when tightened for room by CORNWALL PARK (J. Taylor), which shifted in and away from WRITER.

Apprentice T. Bell was asked to explain the performance of WONDERFUL LASS, particularly when the mare lost contact with the main body of the field when pace quickened approaching the 600m. T. Bell stated that he rode WONDERFUL LASS vigorously at that stage of the race and the mare failed to respond to his riding until after passing the 200m when WONDERFUL LASS did make up considerable ground. Apprentice Bell added that in his opinion WONDERFUL LASS may not have been suited to today’s firm surface and may be be better suited in races of a further distance than today’s event.

The veterinary surgeon reported that FILLYDELPHIA (J. Byrne) had a small laceration in the offside nostril.

Race 8: MOTHER ENERGY C,G&E CLASS 6 H’CAP - 1350m
1st – Carry Me Bluey 2nd – Prost 3rd – Dusty Gold 4th – Rock Home Late

Approaching the 1200m DANAGAZE (B. Looker) had to be steadied from DUSTY GOLD (R. Wiggins), when that runner shifted out.

From after passing the 600m until the early stage of the home straight PROST wa held up and when unable to obtain clear running.

BOOTOOLOO (R. McMahon) was held up when unable to improve rounding the home turn.

Near the 200m SANTO DE LAGO (E. Wilkinson) was inconvenienced when THEFT (P. Hammersley) shifted out slightly under pressure.

Stewards sought an explanation from P. Hammersley regarding the riding tactics he adopted on THEFT, which settled outside of the leader HANGOVER HENRY (J. Byrne) in the early stages, resulting in a fast tempo. P. Hammersley explained that he would have liked to have surrendered the position outside of the leader when challenged by ROCK HOME LATE (B. Stewart) approaching the 1000m but he was unable to restrain THEFT as the gelding was inclined to race fiercely. P. Hammersley added that he attempted after passing the 800m to again restrain THEFT to come back from a position pressuring HANGOVER HENRY, but THEFT continued to overrace and in his opinion this affected THEFT’s capacity to finish the race off. P. Hammersley further added that THEFT has been competing in races over shorter distances and this may have had a bearing on the gelding overracing.

A post-race veterinary examination of G’DAY OLD MATE (J. Taylor), which weakened badly over the final 300m, revealed no abnormality.
